  • 2:35 The rats. Oh my God, I lost my shit.

  • Oh Claire was/is MUCH better than Sarah.

  • Comment removed

  • WOW...she sounds very much like Sarah...not as squeaky though.

  • I think my favorite part is when the Phantom and Christine are in the bpoat and they start singing "In all your fantasies..." and it goes on. That part always hits my core for some reason i don't know why. MC and SB did am amazing job, I don't care what anyone says

  • @xPhoenixoftheOperax You know.. I actually agree with you. I, for some reason or other, somehow feel uplifted when I hear that part.. especially when the Phantom commands Christine to sing for him. You get an immense sense of power from the Phantom as he does this and its always incredible to listen to.. Would you agree?

  • @jakeblues875 Yes I totally agree with your statement. This musical is just wonderful and uplifting anyways. This musical is what actually inspired me to want a degree in music and be part of musicals and plays. I never would have done if I hadn't seen The Phantom of the Opera. Bravssima to Mr. Webber!!

  • @xPhoenixoftheOperax i was upset that verse wasnt in the 2004 movie

  • I love the ballerinas throwing shade on Sarah Brightman. They're awesome.

  • @jarvisel yeah....the one on the far left is my mum :P

  • since when could they say fucking rats on TV?

  • @amc556

Hmmm... first time I ever heard a knight swear on TV.

But then again, it's British TV so I guess anything goes there.

  • wow! I didnt know they were think about having ceasar the horse.... it would have been one of the only version of the story with a WHITE horse...

  • Those women at 07.57 are extremely rude, and really awful. Making fun of Sarah Brightman for recovering? That's just horrible.

  • "that was my idea!" LOL

  • Claire Moore is the most underrated Christine ever!

  • @DanMonsterGPig Yes! Claire Moore certainly saved the day!!!!!

  • Claire was the practical example of a Christine taking the role of Carlotta in a exceptional way.

  • Lol....I think it was a very wise choice that they didn't use a real elephant like what Jonathan Allen said, because I was at the zoo one time and I got to see the elephants being bathed up close (and pardon my language) they have craps the size of a cinder block! Believe me! A very nervous/excited elephant would not last long onstage.....plus with all their massive bulk there would be a huge hole in the stage!!!!!

  • @71crm I know I saw a local High School production of The Phantom of the Opera last year and I loved it except the fact that I saw a cut out image of the elephant for the Hannibal scene in the opening of act one and eventhough the elephant was not real,I still enjoyed the production wich I saw with my mother and my best friend I should know I've seen The Phantom of the Opera 5 times!

  • @phantomhippie I hope these productions are put on YT for all to enjoy. I just hope the Phantoms can sing and not growl like the movie guy.

  • To me seeing the "Journey to the Lair" scene with the gondola coming in was the stage equalivant of E.T. and Eliot fly over the moon in E.T.!!!!

  • Claire Moore sounds amazing!

  • @outdamnwench She was also the original "Ellen" in Miss Saigon in London as well!

  • That white horse just cracked me up. You could tell on the last floor of the balcony that the thing is super fake. The rats aren't much better but at least they're SEMI-creepy.

  • @jazzandmint Yeah I know what you mean about the horse.....it reminded me of this toy horse I played with as a kid!!!

  • "FUCKING RATS BACKWARDS AND FOREWARDS" hillarious!

  • @LoveShouldDie You sound utterly ridiculous. You need to get over being so precious about Phantom - if you were a true fan, like me, you'd be excited by the sequel. I saw it and it was wonderful.

  • Am I the only one who thinks Crawford literally looks like a corpse at 7:25?

  • @TheLightningmikester It's amazing what stage makeup can do to someone's appearance ;)

  • I think the understudy is better than sarah!

  • I love how the white horse got put in the movie! Tribute to the great Maria Bjornson!

  • im guessing the two ladies that were in the corp de ballet didnt like sarah lol

  • cameron mackintosh cursing about rats.

  • Claire Moore looks like sarah!!!! creepy. her voice is wierd...but nice =)

  • God I love Claire. I wish she was the original ! It's so funny that after Claire's reviws came back, all strongly posative Sarah suddendly recovered! She really thought no one but her could sing it!

  • lol @ CR saying it was his idea to kiss Sarah :P

claire is good sure...but come on....she fails in comparison to Sarah Brightman...its Sarah Brightman, once you hear that Angelic voice, she ruins you for any other singer...atleast for me...

  • Thank God they didnt ask him to be the new James Bond!lol

  • Thumbs up for FUCKING Rats with red eyes

  • Why bis it that they love that Wilkinson/Caine video so much? Do they not have any other clip of thatsequence? It's a great clip, and excellent cast, but not the one they're focusing on...

  • @MadameChristie It's now- stock footage that they're able to use repeatedly that was filmed from multi-angles in a way that the original london production wasn't

  • @yonyue True...it's sooo much better than the Harley/Brightman video XD

  • Why do they stick the Wilkinson/Caine music video in there so many times (it;s like once every section here)? XP

  • the rats kill me xD

  • Wait a second, how come I never saw that original cast Masquerade scene? Now I feel like they're hiding something, damn it.

  • The Phantom that sings "The Phantom of the Opera" at the end is not Michael Crawford, but Colm Wilkinson. In my opinion, he would have been a good choice as well.

  • Think there's another version of POTO that's meant for Hal's rat fixation. XD

Man, I wish they would have taken Daniel's advice. Takes one to know one, eh, Erik?

  • Sarah really gets lovelier with age. Nice lady. ;)

  • i think claire is much better then sarah

  • i agree on some levels, i thought claire's 'angel of music' is absolutely divine, but i love sarah singing 'phantom of the opera'

  • Poor Claire! She does sing very, very good!

I would have been SO angry if I were her.

  • poor Claire! it must have been awful! And wow..how'd Sarah get well so soon

  • Claire sounds like Sarah a little bit

  • "These FUCKING rats!"

    XD

It's so funny when directors come up with bad ideas =P

  • Omg that music video. No. Just...No.

  • isn't that colm wilkinson towards the end??

  • I love how watching this, you can see everyone starting to get stressed and worked up remembering how stressful of a show it was!!! lol

  • love claire moore!

  • Clairs voice its ok but not for the role of Christine.....Sarah is the best choice....

  • Wow-Claire is amazing. I actually kind've perfer her to Sarah-though they're both great. But for someone who had to fill in at the very last minute with no rehersals, Claire sounds amazing! God knows I couldn't do that xD

  • Interesting that there are Canadian clips of Colm and Rebecca in this at around 9:03.

  • I'm not sure if I heard Emmy Rossums' voice....... I really don't like her CHristine. Her voice is very juvenile. I think Sarah's is the best.

Claire's is wonderful! I've never heard it before.

  • I prefer claire's voice than sarah's, i've always found her a little weak and warbly.

  • On the contrary, I prefer Sarah's voice, I find her voice more pure and beautiful, but Claire's voice is breathtaking too; I'd love to have recordings of her Phantom songs.

  • They exist, she did a Studio recording with Ethan Freeman and John Barrowman.

  • Loving those ballerinas. Sniggering about Sarah Brightman, tee hee.

  • "he dragged theses fucking rats across the stage" LOL that cracked me up so much!!!!

god i love phantom its the most amazing show ever!!!!!!

  • God I love to death Michael Crawford is my idol I love him ...

  • Wow! Never noticed the dummies!

  • Thats stupid...They interview Michael but they don't use MICHAELS ASEWOME VOICE and version of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA song in this segment! They use his singing in every other segment of this documentary but not this one. By the way Michael Crawford is freaking awesome! Plus hes sooooooooooo damn cute and sexy!

  • wait, isn't colm wilkonson sing POTO?

  • yeah, that clip is from the Canadian production (That I never saw).

  • Do you know what I would like? I would like to see the Phantom without all the corrections, like, um,... the full mask... the first why so silent thing, ect. that would be awesome

  • :) claire moore is god! i hope one day to be on as christine in london, and bring back her strength! many people say we have sim iliar voices, that makes my day <3

  • LOL Chandelier OF DOOM! I love it.

  • Michael Crawford and Steve Barton are awesome. I like Sarahs and Claires voices. There both pretty. Michaels voice just floors me and I love how beautiful and smooth it is. It's like velvet. I loved MCs Phantom. He wsn't just a great actor but sang the part fantastically well to and his body language was incredible. Thank you Michael for helping to create a new take on the Phantom that everybody else has tried to imitate in there performance since then.

  • Hahahaha, I bet they got sick and tired of the "art imitating life" jokes backstage after the first preview.

  • Sarah Brightman is freaking awesome! :D
