  • I'm from his hometown, Springfield, Ohio, and I never heard of him. He's going to be performing here and I looked him up. I really like his songs and sound. He should have been big back in the day! Anyone know what this tuning is? Kinda sounds like open g but he's talking about weird tunings so maybe it's something a little different. I would really like to learn this song, if anyone knows the tuning it would save some work , thanks

  • John's voice has gotten better with time. Great to hear this and to have the recent B&rR cd Still Burning.

  • This used to play on FM back in 72. Memories. Love it.

  • have they ever reunited?Does anyone know what Mark Rodney is doing?

  • They did a CD together recently. Check Pat Batdorf's website.

  • @triviaguyde It's johnbatdorfmusic web site

  • @nowhereman2007 John is going STRONG today! Super brief reunite for an XM radio show that they turned into a CD. But listen to John's solo music now - it's amazing! johnbatdorfmusic on the web. Hold a house concert and have him come play in YOUR living room!

  • wow i just did a search on batdorf...what a surprise...got Batdorf and Rodney on Vinyl...many nights listening to their amazing guitars and harmonies in the 70's .Still have those records!

  • The amazing thing about youtube is the stream of conscious access one has to music...I listen to this and can remember where I was back in '73. I know it's a kind of obvious thing to observe, but still...

Now if only I could see some Pavlov's Dog on here...!

  • Kinda like the movie "Harold and Maude" Many of the songs by Cat Stevens take me back to the early 70's and growing up on the coast of Northern Calif. Thanks for your post! :) Steve

  • Wow! Nice! I caught the studio version on XM Radio's "Deep Tracks," and have been hoping someone would post a live version ever since. It's a shame commercial radio never gives guys like him, Jesse Colin Young, and Kenny Rankin airplay. Much better than what gets passed off as music today...

  • Thanks for the nice comment about John Batdorf. I've been a B&R fan since 1971 when their first album came out. John is currently doing concert dates with Mark Rodney and also James Lee Stanley.

You also mentioned Jesse Colin Young. Wonderful artist and music. Also Seals and Crofts have a new CD out and they sound better than ever with both Jim's and Dash's daughter's appearing on a few tracks. Thanks! Steve

  • I too own B&R on vinyl and am pleased to see John still sounding great.

  • @hobnailrose Me too! John is sounding better now then ever!

  • @FFMCPres That XM program ended up as a live CD for sale now. check out johnbatdorfmusic on the web.
