@eastsidesigns1 To do what you want is really easy. Buy a 7805 (from digikey, sparkfun, or even radioshack) google "7805 datasheet" and find where it tells you the pinout. Connect the 7v to the input, the negative from your solar the the ground on the 7805, and on the output pin there will be 5 volts with respect to the ground of your solar cell. For a 500ma load you should put a heat sink on the 7805 but that's it. I could make a short video if you would like.
so... I want to make a solar charger for my phone. I need a circuit to take 7v. dc and put out the 5v. 500 ma current. can you show me how?
