Retired military here, get name for a town. What in the UCMJ could the major use in this case. I, myself, was told that I would never be able to reenlist. Thank goodness for multiple assignments. I'm a member. I'm hoping to contribute after I've recovered financially. Keep up the good work. Thanks for your service.
I am an Atheist Patriot. Unlike any religious person, their is nothing I love more than the republic and constitution of the United States of America. Not god, friends, nor family. I am willing to give my life for my nation, for freedom, for liberty, and for equality.
I just hope that I don't run into any religious zeolat when I join the Army this month. You're really luck to have other atheist in your unit. I'm wishing like hell that I'm as fortunate as you were.
I am an athiest in the Marine Corps and have never really had any problems thus far. Believe it or not, theres quite a few of us in our unit, some of which have only come out to me because they fear being ridiculed. I have a great unit, and when the topic of religion comes up its fairly open to all sides of the coin.
That's awesome to hear! It's always great when some of our guys are in units that are more open and understanding. It's unfortunate that not every unit is as open as the one you are in. Thanks for sharing!
Apparently not. If you've seen Major Welborn's MySpace page you'll immediately notice that he thinks he's a "soldier for Christ" serving in the Army with other good Christian men and women. Anything that does not fit his definition of a "Christian American" is not on his side. The twisted irony is the theocrats like him see non-Christians and "liberals" as "domestic enemies." A cryin' shame for sure...
By the way... they found Major Welborn. Just go to MySpace and type in user "freddywelborn." The Major is a bit scary. He needs to by discharged for psychiatric reasons.
Lol. His profile is definitely Christian fundamentalist, and that is his right, although he should give the same right to people without his views. His headliner is
Was "SPC Hall" threatened with UCMJ because he was an atheist, or because he was off doing some stupid pow wow instead of being at his regular duty station.
He was threatened with the UCMJ because he was attempting to organize an atheist meeting, just like the Christians that meet at church, the Jews that meet at Synagogue and the Muslims that meet at Mosque. You know... freedom of religion.
You have no guarantee of freedom of religion in the army. If you have KP on a Sunday, and you want to go to church, guess what...Tough shit! Atheism doesn't count as a religion anyway.
All soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen have freedom of religion. You are mistaken. You may have to pull a watch on Sunday if you're a Christian or Saturday if you're Jewish, but that does not prevent you from practicing your freedom of religion. You are right that atheism is not a religion, but it protected as a freedom under the same guidelines that establish freedom of religion.
Actually it is. As a communications watch officer in the United States Navy I was familiar with the OPREP-3 PINNACLE "Broken Arrow" protocol for the FLASH notification to COMSUBLANT, CINCUSNAVEUR, COMSIXTHFLT, CINCLANTFLT, COMSUBGRUEIGHT, and COMSUBRON22.
However, I did mis-state what it meant. It does not mean a "stolen weapon" as the movie you referred to indicated, but a nuclear "incident" that does not create a risk of nuclear war. It's standard OPREP-3 protocol for the Strategic Air Defense.
What's funny is that I realized I said it wrong the first time, and when I went to correct myself, I said the wrong thing again! D'oh! After almost ten years in the Navy you'd think I'd have that memorized. LOL
Wow...it amazes me that they would get their panties in such a wad over something so simple. It amazes me more that on the heels of the Pat Tillman scandal that the Army wouldn't take such "friendly fire" threats more seriously.

Where did you hear that stupid shit? From a movie? Christian Slater and John Travolta.

From PFC Hall, Mr. Weinstein, the Pentagon, the Multinational force spokesman, MSNBC, CNN, the Associated Press, etc.

I was talking about your "Broken Arrow" comment. That is not a real military term.
