Hey maybe this hamster isn't a victim of overeating; sometimes animals have a disorder which makes them have a bad thyroid or no thyroid at all, and the thyroid system regulates metabolism. Maybe he was born without one and he gains weight.
I'm not saying it's the most likely cause, but it could be a possibility...

i've had hamster's for over 10 yr plus nd never has any of them been like this nd they lived top's 5 nd half year nearly all of them ... did he have a wheel nd hamster ball..it a fact hamster's are usualy very active nd need exercise everday...hamster's dont gain weight because they are old..it either they arnt having the exercise they are supposed to be getting,feeding it things u shouln't or over feeding by lot's

My hamster is like really big and she's only 8 months she's still very active but she just loves to eat I've given her less food but nothing stops her from eating x
