  • I know someone who lived in Hawaii at the time and saw this flash.

  • Check out frame 40:13

And we thought communists were the threat.

    WE were our own threat.

    We should ALL SUE.

  • Good upload

  • Starfish. Prime. The fucking nuke is called "Starfish Prime."

The entire team must have been doing large amounts of acid when they dreamed up this nuke test.

  • Looks like a Nebula.

  • DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!

  • This was in the early 1960s. Just imagine what was done in addition to this, and what is still being done, that they will never declassify.

  • 1 hours?? O.o

  • Shit like this is why i could never trust our government.

  • @Longhornzrock96 Well at least they were trustowrthy enough to know to never use them in anger. Give them some credit for that.

  • I got it! Lets blow up the atmosphere!

    - yes sir, sounds like a great idea sir.

    Lord help us all..

  • ha ha ha, they named it "StarFish", that is too funny.

  • love the narrator.

  • I dunno about UFOs or stuff, but from 21:14 till 21:18 you can see a skull emerging and then disappearing in the middle of the circle, and from 21:09 till 21:11 and 21:13 it kinda looks like a burnt face and then it morphs in a skull, is this just me or others also see it, i am not saying anything just that it is freaky...

  • @VikingNightmare Gosh, I could swear that cloud over there looks just like a whale. And that one there like a rabbit. It's the human mind at work.

  • Now we really know what happened to our protective ozone and why our govs has always been hush, hush about all of their "missions".

  • at 21:25 u can see jesus with open arms on the left

  • @h4X0r99221 are you high?

  • @h4X0r99221 no i see a nuclear explosion

  • Fucking Beautiful, that was fucking beautiful.

  • @lee8264 i make a pause- play between 21m20s and 21m35s and the last light going fast is simply an UFO " Like the other..." , you CAN exactly see the UFO if you pause at the good moment , i know its little bit psycho to do this things but the results is one proof That this technologie is between hands of some fcking people of our planet....or not, and govrnmt keep this secret since 50 years so for me a French guy it makes me sad for all the earth to be intellectually slave of This kind of think

  • it was 50 years ago?? what this the supersonics object on 21m24s, 21m34s and 22m25s , for old flying object its very fast?? not a missille for sure....

  • @motieny These tests were conducted mainly to measure the of E.M.Ps created from detonation. It was conducted by the D.O.E.The test results detected three different kinds of E.M.Ps E1,E2, E3.Each one has different effect ranging from gamma radiation burst to mass coronal ejection and electromagnetic burst. They conducted 36 tests under the code name operation dominic. This was just one of many operations carried out by the United States.Over 1000 at the Neveda proving grounds alone. This is Area 51.

  • this is from like 50 years ago!!!

  • Watching the part at 7:38 is demonic

  • @Vettejocke: the films used to be Classified, but have been Declassified. Hence the word "Declassified" in the title.

  • If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?

    --Albert Einstein

  • who put this classified shit on youtube?

  • This really proves that the Apollo 11 missions were staged

  • @DarkMedievalTimes1 - derrrrrrrrr!!!! (also, just #11? lol)

  • @DarkMedievalTimes1 Really? How so?

  • all these test and blast data all came up with the same conclusion,..their fucking dangerous! duh!

  • A critical test in its day that yielded very important data for high energy electrons trapped in the earth's magnetic field. It provided the basis for existing space and anti-satellite weapons in the current stockpile.

  • Many of the tests during this enitre test series were reportedly watched very close from launch to detonation by objects of undetermined origin.

  • That's the way the Americans destroyed our protection against the "hard" UV-radiation-the Thermosphere!!

And that's why now we have so many problems with the UV-radiation (skin-cancer and so on)

Since these terrible "experiments" have been made, the Termosphere is became much thinner than ever in the world's history!!

And that's why the military are the dangerest "people" on the Earth. They had to be vorbidden by the constitution!

  • starfish prime, so that's where they got the name for that title on mw2

  • i live in australia, and i would as Hell as prefer America to be in power rather than any other country.

  • @Hunkyfish20 That's only cause you speak english and are out of reach. For the rest of the world, americas in power is like China in power for you. You never know who's gonna be the next non-english speaking country going to be invaded. Thank god I'm latin and american's have plenty of asians and arabs to kills. =s

But when they're done... We're next.

  • the USA is the land of dumb sheep, owned and run by lunatics.

  • @TheHorsenation You can say that about every country in the world.

  • @TheHorsenation Actually, you can say that about every country.

  • This experiment caused more problems than expected. 1/3 of all satellites were disabled after the blast. Honestly, this experiment is pointless. However, the nation's mindset on nuclear annihilation was understandable.

  • @xTRICKYxx: so you're saying it was pointless, yet had a good point?

  • Remember kids, don't do this at home.

  • @ECiriachi I already did

  • Get ready for a "blast" of views, as NPR airs a radio program about this.......

  • Starfish Prime!!, awesome name. i wonder how much they spent to come up with that name.

  • THATS SHOWIN THE MAGNETIC FEILD WHOSE BOSS

  • I was on the island during some of these tests. I was the thor blow up on the pad. My job was to put the igniters in the Nike, cajun sounding rockets. An eerie time during the cold war.

  • if i buy one, do i get one free ???

  • ok for the people who dont know...

Starfish Prime was an experiment to test the effects of a nuclear bomb detonating in the atmosphere. The effects of the detonation caused power outages in Hawaii and created what Modern Warfare 2 players know as the EMP (Electro-magnetic Pulse). It is a commonly known fact that if a powerful enough bomb (such as the Russian Tzar Bomba) were detonated high enough, it would cause power outages everywhere throughout the world, making this the ultimate weapon.

  • why do people have such a objection to nuclear weapons?, I was at nuclear test divider, the last weapon busrt the the US have used, they are the ultimate us weapon, this is what stopped russia from taking our country, the MAD theory, look it up.

  • Destruction is alot easier then construction.

  • @TeunisD Wrong, destruction done right is a lot easier then construction.

  • @TeunisD *than

  • longest video on youtube i ever saw

  • Actually, my grandfather flew that and a few other bombs to johnston island and watched it and others explode with scientists and such

  • @Kalikani1 i hope hes proud of himself he might have helped in the destruction of our race one day

  • @danophile07 Like he's such a terrible person for flying a plane. Get over yourself, nuclear weapons exist and there's no stopping it.

  • @danophile07 You think nuclear weapons are bad? Just imagine what countries have in secrecy today. Things that will make the hydrogen bomb look like a cherry bomb.

  • thanks for posting these

  • I was in the US Coast Guard and one Chief I knew was stationed at Johnston LORAN C station when all this was going on/ He didn't actually see all this because as I found out later all the USCG personel were evacuated during the tests. Turned out that was good because there were at least 2 launch malfunctions. I believe one of the Thor missiles blew up on the launch pad spreading plutonium all over the area. I also heard that this was an ABM test, but the EMP effects were so bad they had to quit.

  • The narrator sounds like Ray Walston of "My Favorite Martian."

  • Lab coat dispassion meets armageddon. The cold war was serious business, obviously. I think the hair trigger justified paranoia of the times is looked at as trivial today, because it's not salient to popular political agendas of the Pollyana sort. Should we be vigilant towards threats, or is the monstrosity of the consequences just too much to handle realistically/politically?

  • what would have made these better if the filmers had put a regular video camera with like a lead door infront of the lense and a skilled cameraman controlling the exposure setting getting a shot right before detonation and resumed once the brightness of the fire ball was within range for the camera to capture. have the camera with the filter nearby and the itd be so big that if you sliced the films it could be made like it was captured from all one continuous roll from one camera.

  • will not play like all the similar declassified documents.

  • check again. noone else complains but you. youtube has some problems with their traffic ""provider", depending on your location and daytime this could be a reason..

  • You're dumb. Fix your internet.

  • Although they are beautiful, they are deadlier than the Death Cap Amanita mushroom. The safest distance I could watch oneof those is from a video recording. I hope that I never get to see a nuclear explosion in my lifetime. The effects are damaging to the DNA and to the environment. The Russians in Kazahstan and near Novoya Zemlya are still suffering from radiation effects.

  • Cette bêtise atomique, lancée en banlieue de la Terre, pour tenter de... perturber la ceinture de radiations de Van Allen ?

    Ben voyons...

  • USA SOLDIER TERRORISTAS DE MIERDA

    no people from usa

  • si, putas!

  • People don't do these things governments do.

  • @tifosiman68 Well... governments are made of people; sociopathic, rent-seeking, power-hungry people, but people nonetheless.

  • @tifosiman68 That's silly, governments are people.

  • @thekkl Governments are people, are they all human, who knows? The people(civilians) are different, they not crazy, mad, psyhco power freaks. Governments changed people. It's like moneys changed a person's behavior. For some people, the more moneys you got, the more you look down at people. So basically what I means is when the governments people got more control over something, it's changed them. So they are not people(civilians) anymore, they are governments.

  • @thekkl In a democracy Governments represent people. The people representing people often turn out to be greedy with vested interests. Anyone in the 21st century who honestly believes that they live in a democracy needs to open their eyes. They live in a Corporatocracy which gives people the belief that the system is for the benefit of the people, when in reality it is for the benefit of a handful of selfish people who are interested only in acquiring more of what they really yearn for.

  • @tifosiman68 governments are the people. lol

  • @TheMustangfan101

no........just because you work for the government. Does not mean Governments are people. They are the carefully designed chains to bind and restrict people. Not to advance them in any way. History shows us this. Wake up you sleeping people!!!!!

  • We need this shit for when the Klingons attack

  • It would be a glorious battle.. worthy of song and bloodwine....

  • lol well said.

  • Yeah - who needs photon torpedoes when you got H-bombs

  • @guadagnolo Yes, the explosion of a 25-megaton neutron bomb will slowly kill the Aliens under destruction of the circuits of the UFO by an EMP.

  • Whar would a 50 MT burst at 500 KM altitude do over the central US or central Russia?

  • 500 km altitude? lol, not much but some nice fireworks and some radioactive fallout!

  • There is almost no fallout from high atmospheric bursts. Ground bursts are much worse as they tear up lots of solid and dust to which the fission products attach themselves.

  • @mkarnerfors

High-altitude nuclear detonations can destroy electronics for thousands of miles. If the goal is widespread chaos, it is far better than ground-level detonation.

  • emp?

  • Many deaths, technology destroyed due to the huge emp burst, not to mention the shock wave. The fall out kills the remaining survivors.

  • well, im sure by now we can jump start a small solar system from scratch. Hents BIG BANG

  • no ,

  • The most powerful one tested was 8.4 megatons!

    Just..... BOOM!!

  • Nope.

It was supposed to be, but the Crossroads Able test was plagued by a miscalculation when scientists did not realize that material in the tamper would fission too, increasing the yield to almost double what it was supposed to do.

  • Wrong and wrong. Crossroads Able (1946) was a Fat Man mk 3A design which was essentially exactly what they used in the war. The yield of 23 kT was not unexpected.

The Castle Bravo shot however, in 1954, was a huge "Oops!" when the bomb exceeded yield with about 200%, turning out at 15 MT instead of intended 4-6. This was not because of the tamper but the Lithium-7 contamination of the secondary, which was expected to inert but was instead highly reactive.

  • Ok, so the reactivity caused the tamper to go fast fission... but that wouldnt' have happened if it wasn't for the Li-7.

  • You never hear anybody point to these atmospheric nuclear test as a contributing factor to "global warming" or to the high cancer rates these days. No, they'd rather you not know - that filthy bastards.

  • "You never hear anybody point to these atmospheric nuclear test as a contributing factor to "global warming""

That's because they aren't a contributing factor to global warming. They do not produce greenhouse gases and they have far too little energy to do anything but heat a tiny portion of the atmosphere for a short period of time.

  • are you high?

  • also cancer is in peoples genetic material anyway. All cancer is cells that refuse to go through programmed cell death and continue to mutate and spread. Also cancer causing radiation is only there while its in the atmosphere 1-14 days. the only cancer risk are to those in the fall out.

  • They didn't know they were going to win the cold war, so obviously they were lobbing nukes like lunatics. You can laugh at it now and just outsource that stuff to Iran, China, India, Syria, N. Korea, Libya, Russia, & Pakistan.

  • It's amazing how people still today cares about megatons instead of think how stupid and dangerous this kind of tests were (are?). Let's make an experiment with our world!! The worst think could happen is to blow Hawaii!!!... and it's ours!!!. Shame on you bastards.

  • how about a gigaton that would look nice from 600mi from earth

  • *Everyone* knows this is a macabre display of mankind toying with dangerous forces. They shouldn't have.

...but they did. Done is done. So let's just enjoy the show and remember the lessons: "let's not go there again".

  • One Big HANE (High Altitude Nuclear Explosion)...

And modern Missile Defence (THAAD, PATRIOT) is dead...

    ...next nuclear warheads kill you

  • They'd be shot down and destroyed before getting anywhere near

  • thought it was 1.4 megatons....

  • The explosion at 15:30 is just spectacular!

  • Looks just like a planetary nebula.

  • 1.5 MEGAtons - not kilotons.

  • This was the first test of the Little Johnnie Rocket, it was fired from an aircraft and exploded with the force of 1.5 kilotons.

  • They forgot the real reason for this test: So that people could enjoy the world's biggest fireworks show.
