this song truly solidifies their songwriting ability. I mean, cmon, writing a song about a new twin sized bed and provoking so many emotions at the same time. excellent.
@carbonquiznoz1 I'd hate to start some stupid youtube argument but I'm pretty sure it is. His hand is right in time with the guitar slides he's doing.
i didn't like this song at first when i got narrow stairs, it was originally my least i really only liked bixby canyon bridge at the beginning but then i started listening to a new song every couple of days and eventually i started to like every single one, just like plans.
This is amazing, i've only just got used to narrow stairs and this is from someone who basically lives for this band. one of the best songs on the record.
Haha, Are you serious guys? This song is not about eating bread. Its about a middle-aged man who replaces his queen size bed with a twin-sized bed because he has given up on finding love. Its really sad. According to Ben Gibbard this is one of the two saddest things he's ever seen. The other being an old lady eating her own birthday cake by herself in the grocery store. Sad stuff, haha.
Haha, I just realized this video was shot by a friend two seats down from me. Amazing show!
wow...Red Rocks!! thats amazing I so want to move out to CO when im out of college.!! I love death cab and this is a good video of the show..loll Thanks for POsting!!
The song kinda has a '90s feel to it in my opinion. Most of their songs have a feeling in some way of either a certain timeline, season, time of day, or place. It's really beautiful how the lyrics and music blend into something of a perfect summer evening.
I'm not quite sure why but it made me cry. Beautiful. :')

I was watching one of my performances the other day. I move exactly like Ben, I don't do it on purpose, either. :/

Is it just me... Or does Ben's swaying never go along with the music haha?
Henryjksl 2 years ago 3
It isn't just you, but that is all part of the magic of their concerts. It wouldn't be the same if he didn't sway like that ;})

It's seriously one of the saddest songs I've ever heard. It's right up there with Motion City Soundtrack's "Hold Me Down".
