  • gluten free & non GMO organic brown rice triumphs the militant paleo nut heads.

  • Oatmeal's not processed? I suggest you harvest some oats and tell me how that works out.

Grains are animal feed and medieval peasant food, if you ask me.

  • @supercell42 That's what I thought.

  • For those concerned about carboyhydrates... healthy sources are OK in moderate amounts in people that are "healthy". If you are "metabolically challenged", diabetic, etc. lowering carboyhydrate is probably a good idea. For those who are "healthy" though, carbohydrates shouldn't be a problem when they are kept within 20-30% of your total calories, as opposed to the 50% the average American gets from very poor sources. Sorry for the triple post, just happen to have an interest in this stuff.

  • For anyone doubting this guy, you should reconsider. This is exactly who you want to have telling you what you should be eating. First, he is in no way biased... he doesn't come from a certain corner (vegan, low carb, paleo, etc.) and he isn't swayed by the flawed science of todays schools of nutrition. Second, the guy has a Ph.D. in Physics and was an astrophysicist at Harvard, so it's safe to say he is an unbelievable researcher. EXACTLY who you want to take advice from nutritionally.

  • There seems to be a lot of confusion/ignorance in the comments. Yes, all foods do contain "toxins", but specific foods contain certain toxins that effect us humans far more negatively than other foods (grains). This is the plants way of defending itself, since it doesn't have teeth or claws, it defends itself through toxins. We are not capable of correctly digesting grains. However, if you remove the bran in white rice, you effectively remove the problem portion that is harmful to humans.

  • What about the gluten in rice???

  • @MarcusSco11 rice has no gluten

  • Some of this seems hokey. Pretty much any food you buy in America these days that's non-organic is going to have toxins in it. However, if the aim is to eat food that is not too expensive yet has a lower toxic load, then one should avoid meat/dairy/flour/added sugar/fatty/processed food (meat: unless it is grass-fed) almost completely and stick with safer grains like groats/oats/buckwheat/quinoa/wild rice and load up on whole foods like fruits/veggies/beans/potatoes with some nuts/seeds for fat

  • GET LOREN CORDAIN ON THE SHOW!!!

    AND JASON FERRUGGIA!

  • One of my objections to The Primal Blueprint was all the food restrictions. Studies have shown that when people try to stop eating certain foods it becomes an obsession. What I got from the Primal Blueprint was eating less grains makes more room for vegetables. I will never give up oatmeal and the odd bit of rice. I'm just finding that a lot of experts are saying even natural foods are off limits and it's starting to annoy me. I just stay away from stuff that is processed and sugars.

  • @trevormac77 grains=agriculture and thats us not nature. eat those oats without altering them and then tell me how natural they are.

  • @roottruthseeker I don't have a problem with agriculture, if you want a hunter gatherer population you can knock the world population down to 50 million people.

  • @trevormac77 it's not so much the concern of eating "natural" foods. Plutonium is "natural", but no one suggests you eat it.

The main concern with foods such as grains, legumes, and dairy, is that they can cause a number of digestive issues, which eventually lead to many autoimmune diseases.

I suggest you read "the paleo solution" by Robb Wolf, as he puts a lot of science behind everything he says (while remaining understandable), instead of just saying. Cavemen did it, so I should too.

  • @trevormac77 I thought I would find it hard to give up oatmeal at first, I used to eat it twice everyday. However I thought I would give the whole real food thing a go, and now I feel so good. I didn't know how healthy really felt until I cut out grains and started eating real food. When you think about it there are a lot of natural foods that humans don't eat. Poisonous fruits etc, and you won't find any sane person outside chewing up some grass.

  • @trevormac77 i agree, only grain i eat is rice and maybe some sprouted bread and there but for the most part i pulled from that book which seems to be the underlying theme in most is eat clean organic food ad meats, exercise and stay as stress free as possible. i stopped eating oatmeal though for my teeth and cavities. i would always get them until i cut almost all grains from the diet

  • OMG! Sean, posting content like this is going make you lose subscribers and call your competence as a nutritionist into question. Where does this guy get this information from?

  • @hip2dadip I think the point is that sean is simply the guy who interviews people, if he only chose to interview the right people then I'd find that a bit biased.

  • I eat no rice except for sushi, so I don't care. Nothing will convince me rice is worth eating. If you want a "safe starch" eat a sweet potato, it's that simple.

  • "fructose" is functionally a toxin..... what happened to common sense? an apple is a toxin, huh. but butter and meat r pure as spring water. way to go! human beings have just turned into sad lost creatures completely disconnected from nature and simplicity.

  • Look at the Asian countries with the longest life spans and watch how white rice is one of their main foods.. Also you want a great respected alternative Doctors name that approves of this? DR. MERCOLA.

  • @00GameReviews i heard they lived longer before rice was brought along.

  • @roottruthseeker Rice goes back thousands of years and maybe even longer. Its part of their culture still to this day. Research Japan and their diet

  • White rice healthier than brown rice? So rice fiber is toxic? Even though it slows digestion of carbohydrates and acts to stabilize blood sugar and cleanse the body? So the more processed a food is, the better it is for you? So you're saying that many of the foods God provided for us on this planet are indeed bad for us and need to be run through an industrialized processing plant and altered by the hands of man before they are fit for consumption? How ridiculously arrogant!

  • @Strangebright i did hear about something about rice and cyanide. Last time i checked rice was never naturally abundant for our consumption. We did that not the invisble man.

  • first time I heard that brown rise is toxic

and the white is less toxic

can I find I source of info that con fence me about that

  • So I can eat white rice, home fries and oven baked french fries on a regular basis ? EXCELLENT ! Who would have thought that all this time brown rice was less healthy than white rice ?

  • fructose is a toxin? Yes it is. Just eat bacon, eggs, and milk all day that is what cleanses you from all the toxic fruits your eating. This is the fountain of youth, you become immortal and you ll never be sick again.

  • i heard rob wolff say that white rice was ok too? hmmmmm??

  • and potatoes are a nightshade which are all neurotoxic btw

  • @MastGKlah lol tomatos too. You appear very retarded while justifying your bad habits. But you re probably a great regurgitator. Thats of course valueable to society.

  • or soak your brown rice in a sourdough culture....

  • Just eat quinoa people

  • white rice is better than brown rice and less toxic.. According to DR Mercola.

  • @TrueGreatness73 wow hows that?

  • He is talking too slow

  • Really? Like Really?? White rice? I could be convinced because I have an intolerant reaction to brown rice. Not easily though, because I would have been eating white rice if it didn't cause me problems. So idk?? What about fructose? Is juicing fruits every other day bad?

  • @CassieAnnaCary fresh raw ripe organic fruit juice is like the fountain of youth, cleansing, gives great energy level, health and longevity. Not having a large fruit juice per day is bad. If you re a diabetic eat unprocessed fruit.

  • some of his info is just a little bit off though...

  • Wow this is the worst load of bullshit I've ever heard. No one on this planet is going to convince me that white rice is healthier than brown rice. It sounds to me like he is saying toxins when he means nutrients. What sick reality is this guy living in. I suppose next you'll tell me white bread is a "safe starch" to haha

  • @srogers88 look up phytic acid on wikipedia.

  • @boob72 so it starts by saying that it can cause a mineral deficiencies, which is something that not im not worried about because I have plenty of whole foods to take care of that, then it goes on to say it provides an antioxidant effect and cancer prevention. So like most anything and nutrition included there will always be some side effects that will try to outweigh the benefits. I still say in this case the good outweighs the bad. Thanks for the info.

  • @srogers88 What you just wrote is the worst load of bullshit I've ever heard...

  • @jazzplayer9 you'll have to be more specific

  • @srogers88 First of all you state what you believe.. then you go on to say that nothing can convince you otherwise. So you are or believe you are above science or research. This makes your comment irrelevant for such a topic as this. Biology and nutrition both rely on experimentation and studies, none of which will "convince" you. Even if said studies are non-debatable. It's bullshit to call something bullshit then reject any future inquiries towards changing. This topic is definitely debatable.

  • @jazzplayer9 I'm not saying that what I believe isn't or can't be proven wrong and I'm defiantly not against science research and progress in any field in general. But if you believe something then shouldn't you be biased to the fact that your opinion can't and wont be changed? Beliefs change all the time, which is awesome and a sign of progress, but while you believe something you should stand behind it 100% right or wrong.

  • @srogers88 I wouldn't think it would be good for anyone to hold their beliefs in a biased manner. That's why most studies are labeled "un-biased." It's a crucial step in over-coming held myths or dogma.

  • interesting

  • HOORAY FOR WHITE RICE =D! YES! Now THIS is good news!!!

  • no shit man, look at japan, that is one of their main stable. lol
