If the largest bengal was 857 (which is pretty close to 900) then the MUCH larger siberian tiger must be able to weigh 900. The only reason they have not found one is because it would be hard for people to go into Siberia and catch a tiger.... bear grylls, a wildlife survival expert was dumped in siberia and he had trouble staying alive, imagine how hard it would be to find an EXTREMELY scarce species, then kill or capture it.
I've seen lions & tigers in zoo's at similar sizes but I have also seen one white siberian tiger a lot bigger,paws about a foot or more in diameter and stood about 4ft at the shoulder ,it was hugh I didn't believe they could get that big,this thing picked up nearly a full tree trunk which was about 3ft wide & 15ft long at one end with one paw.

Well we are talking wild cats but in captivity they reach 900Lbs even 1000lb. The heaviest ever bengal tiger (857) was a abnormally large cat. Siberians are known to be larger, the only problem is finding one isolsted, abnormally large and gorged enough. When these cats have enough large prey ie gaur then i think they can reach 900lb wherever this tiger paradise exists. As every fisherman knows, the monsters are the ones that get away

I would say they hunt them as much as any similar sized predator hunts similar sized prey. And hunting a young cow or calf is still hunting gaur. If you use that blanket statement, then you are wrong. If you say, "tigers rarely hunt and kill adult male gaurs", yes, that's a bit more accurate.

Here are weight averages of tigers and lions sub spiecies
African lion- 398- 435 lbs
Bengal tiger- 420-441 lbs
Siberian- 487-510 lbs
Barbary lion- 480-500 ( extinct in WILD)
American lion- ( it pretty much was like a siberian tiger, but for lions) they averaged 725 pounds
*Fact* All other 7 sub-speices of tiger not listed here ( 2 are extinct) are smaller than the african lion ( i belive one of them get as small as 200 pounds)

They are much more athletic as they live in rainforests and even hunt small monkeys while Siberians live in places that few trees can grow and few trees do grow so they climb very little.
I can see why, a wild tiger is fighting fit, he burns off more calories searching for food, in a zoo they just get fed regularly.

I agree with you that any Bengal tiger would be killed by an African Lion, but I still have trouble believing that any Lion could even challenge a Siberian, purely becuse of the size difference, 900lbs or not. Tah, J

Even if a siberian tiger was 900 lbs, that only is because of his invirement it lives in.
It's a huge mass of fat to survive the cold and harsh winters..

Here are weight averages of tigers and lions sub spiecies
African lion- 398- 435 lbs
Bengal tiger- 420-441 lbs
Siberian- 487-510 lbs
Barbary lion- 480-500 ( extinct in WILD)
American lion- ( it pretty much was like a siberian tiger, but for lions) they averaged 725 pounds
*Fact* All other 7 sub-speices of tiger not listed here ( 2 are extinct) are smaller than the african lion ( i belive one of them get as small as 200 pounds)

Even if they weighed 900 pounds most of their weight is made up of fat that is supposed to protect them against the harsh Russian winter. The Bengal will win 54/100 fights against the Siberian, even though Siberians is slightly longer and very slightly taller. Bengals are slim and quick. They are much more athletic as they live in rainforests and even hunt small monkeys while Siberians live in places that few trees can grow and few trees do grow so they climb very little.

not really , all modern studies indicate that tigers sleep aboput 19-20 hours a day , they don´t walk 20 miles a day and also don`t hunt that much, like some biased people here say . By the way the tiger which I mentioned in the video was gorged , and weighed probably about 700 pounds.

Actually schamah, wild siberian tigers do get up to 900lbs, but it is uncommon. If you disagree with thats fine, I know you are still caught up in the debate. But the truth is that they do. Btw, that report of the tiger that was 800lbs was from like 1910-1930, the largest found now was about 983lbs.

Well, a lot of different foods can do different things, we feed our lions and tigers chicken and horse meat, but we dont give them a lot of the fat. I have watched some of their videos and they give the meat with the fat.

Its been stated in recent sources that the siberian tigers weight has often been exaggerated. And scientist now confirm that the Norther Bengal Tiger is now the bigger.
