  • Good lord this was uploaded 7 years ago. I'm scared to think what they look like now!

  • 8 people don't know what being classy is.

  • Keep doing what you're doing

  • lovely

  • Amazing work. Your Lindy is super smooth. Very creative as well. I especially love that slide move at 1:06

  • It's a version of Bei Mir Bist du Schon. The Andrews Sisters did a version, but I'm not sure who this is.

  • @laura0181 It's from the Swing Kids (1993) soundtrack... oh just looked it up. I didn't know it was Janis Siegel of Manhattan Transfer! =D

  • HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY

does any body know the name of this song and whom its from?

  • That was awesome! Loved it!

  • does anyone know the name of the song or the singer?

  • @blauhelmchen88 The song is Bei Mir Bis Du Shein by Andrews Sisters (also done by Ella Fitzgerald)

  • Comment removed

  • @blauhelmchen88 Actually, it's the version of Bie Mir Bist Du Shoen performed by Janis Siegel

  • Just magnificent, they certainly have talent, wish I could dance like that :-((

  • I don't dance lindy hop but I can tell they are technique and fluidity masters... I'm inspired ;)

  • How does one actually learn how to do this?!

  • Just spent 30 straight minutes trying to find this video! So glad I did! I watched it for the first time 2 years ago and every few months it'll pop into my head again. I love everything about it!

  • really nice performance, it's a pity the bad quality of the video. Great swing dancers!

  • Beautiful. I've been watching this video since it was first posted here, and still amazes me.

  • They did the most beautiful demos... which means their performances were even better. Carla is so whispy. She just floats. I love it.

  • Ow wow, I love Lindy Hop!

  • People whining about shoes? Give me a break!

I noticed the shoes, and am not fond of them personally, but if they are comfortable, and work well, that is fine for me. And to those who say fast Lindy cannot be done well in heels; Watch Nina dance in high heels and get back to me.

I wish the video quality was a bit better in this clip, but I really like the performance and the dancing!

  • Bella, Bella, esta maximo!

  • there is something sexy about a woman dancing like that!

  • Awesome.

    Very nice performance

  • One day, I'll Lindy like that.

  • beautiful interpretation of the music i love the ay they play with the beats in the song.Lovely x

  • could someone tell me the name of the song? thxs!!

  • it's "bei mir bist du shoen," although i'm not sure who's singing this particular version.

  • I think it's Swing Kids Orchestra and Janis Siegel - Bei Mir Bist Du Schön from Swing Kids CD

  • Originally written in Yiddish by Jacob Jacobs (lyrics) and Sholem Secunda (music), for the Yiddish musical "I Would If I Could" in 1933. English lyrics written for the Andrews Sisters by Sammy Cahn and Vic Schoen within a couple of days of the Nov 24, 1937 recording. "Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen" means "By Me, You Are Beautiful" - a triple entendre which could mean either "To me, you are beautiful", "Standing with me, you are beautiful" or "Compared to me, you are beautiful."

  • Yes ...shake them cakes....

  • Fantastic! Bravissimo! Beautiful dancing, original choice of music, just absolutely the best lindi I've ever seen.

    Fell in love! Great couple!

  • Although I totally agree with you, I gotta say that nowadays people tend to lindy in sueded sneakers. For instance, I prefer doing lindyhop in my little white canvas sneakers to my balboa heels. That being said, those are the ugliest ones she probably could have picked.

  • Please do not compare a LIVE performance to an edited movie clip.

  • ... I wasn't.

  • Yes, you did. The audience is not entitled to anything other than a badass improvised dance. We're not ballroomers. We use and wear what works. Why should Carla sacrifice comfort and danceability for your personal preference?

  • Her shoes can be ugly, but they're the best one to dance, because they minimize the impact when she makes aerials and this kind of stuff. Make aerials with high heels is very dangerous, because you can break your ankle, knee, hurt your leg, your back...

And in my opinion, lindy hop with high heels is horrible! You don't have bounce, you get tired fast, and you can't make some movements that you could do in a low heel shoe. Confort and danceability are everything

  • @hyperion30000 Wow. Who freakin' cares? Especially in Lindy Hop, I don't know many people who give a flying crap about what shoes you wear, what clothes you wear or what hairstyle you have as long as you can dance. What do you want her to wear, ruby slipper stilettos? This isn't dancing wtih the stars and the audience didn't miss a single thing because of her shoes.

  • @dmower397 Because its PERFORMANCE douchebag. It's not dancing for their own pleasure, which if it was, fine let them where whatever crap they want. But they sell themselves on performance and ought to look the part. And no, ruby slippers aren't required, smartass. But shoes can be dancable and aesthetically pleasing, witness numerous dancers in the 40's who did so with grace and ease. And why the hell did you take this critique so damn personally in the first place? Get a life!

  • @hyperion30000 Haha! You're kidding, right? It's obvious that you took it WAAAAAY more personally than I did, since now you're resorted to name-calling and profanity. I was just making a comment on how totally unimportant the subject of her shoes are, and yes, poking fun at you for taking it soooo seriously, which apparently you still do. Sorry if I made you cry. But as a lindy dancer, I stand by my point: who cares what shoes she's wearing?

  • it is amazing dance (inlove)

  • It is a very wonderful step!

  • They are pretty nice, really ...

    I like this style

  • this dance is absolutely the best one I have ever seen. Thank you so much for this, it inspires in such a perfect way

  • does anyone know what the name of the song is?

  • The Song is Bei Mir Bist du Schön - Cahn, Sammy

  • Warning! Untrained eye!

Really, Pro's can do it fast but doing it fast isn't necessarily where the skill lies. Anyone can do it fast because people are expected to do it sloppy and many times it's much to fast to even notice error, this couple is (I would dare say) near flawless in their technique slow, the spins, slides, lifts, turns, all of it! I'm (personaly) really impressed, even when the get going fast it's still squeaky clean.

  • i thought it was quite entertaining

  • Beautiful...awesome!!!

  • boring because you couldn't do it?

I think it's awesome watching their feet. No one dances like that anymore. These days no one has actual physical contact with a partner unless it's to bump-and-grind. Now THAT's boring!

  • fast is strictly a formula, Slow and medium pace lindy gives the dancers, Lead and follow, the freedom to have much more musicality and freedom with their style. Its a much more personal kind of dancing, and therefore much harder for a connection between partners. Anyone can dance with anyone fast if they have worked at it, but personality of slow dances can't be practiced or taught. Its natural ability and creativity.

  • if you want really good slow lindy, watch skye and frida. they have amazing connection and personality

  • @TeamKilday

Boring and tacky. Butt-to-groin dancing is lame. But I think lindy is probably more common than you think.

  • Your opinion, but it's fantastically exciting.

If you were a dancer (which I assume you're not) you'd appreciate Lindy whether there's aerials or not.

You should watch the Skye and Frida ULHS performance to 24 Robbers from last year. No glitz and glam, all connection and magic.

It's more difficult to dance fast and slow, but Kevin and Carla pull off some beautiful medium tempo magic in this performance.

I love it. The slow pancake is great. :)

  • 123ranger123 the song is by manattan transfer

  • 123ranger123 the song is by manattan transfer

  • please tell me whos the performer of this song (Bei mir bist du schoen)? i really like this version.

    and the dance is fantastic!

  • The artist is Benny Goodman. My lindy group preformed to this song, and I was really excited to see it here!

  • It sounds like the Janis Siegel version from the soundtrack of Swing Kids.

  • fabuloosooo. en su pagina tienen unas clases filete
