i cant remember if this actually happened in the manga but im pretty sure mixing the fox's chakra and sage mode wont work. Sage mode is natural chakra and naruto has to stay in total control, if he doesnt he turns into a frog. but the ffox's chakra (before he learned to control it) is all rage and unstable. the two just dont mix

remember when Ichigo was only able to be in his hollow mask for only 11 seconds, well he's able to hold it for much longer now. naruto will also increase his duration in sage mode.

in manga he used his sage-foxed mode when he was talking with nagato if anyone could remember, but nagato ended up telling a story so he didn't even attack BTW naruto's eyes was shaped like this (+) <- sage fox mode  (-) sage mode ..... (|) fox mode
