  • Great video and very important, one little hiccup tho. He says “most of the new monkeys didn’t know why they were stopping other monkeys from climbing the stairs” I would say none of them knew why because none of them has seen the water.

  • monkey see monkey do... :D

  • wow, that was heavy. l gotta watch it again a few times. Brainwashing is an interesting science...

  • This should explain to people about traffic lights. They are not needed now, as they were not needed many decades ago. Traffic lights are not used in all countries. In cities around Europe where this is being tested, again, they have found there are less than 2 car crashes in a 12 month span.

  • Ron Paul 2012 !!!

  • @Payka92 since he got beaten and he has accepted that that is the way society works

  • this isnt that bruce willis film

  • @Hershizzle that is called 12 monkeys, and no, it is not even indirectly related.

  • If a 1 monkey has more 'bannana's' than another monkey what will he do?

  • @MomSavingSon SHare?

  • Made with Blender

  • Was this study done and could you refrence it for me if so?

  • @thenofxer - Stephenson, G. R. (1967). Cultural acquisition of a specific learned response among rhesus monkeys. In: Starek, D., Schneider, R., and Kuhn, H. J. (eds.), Progress in Primatology, Stuttgart: Fischer, pp. 279-288.

  • @Soseloshvili Thank you.

  • I used to go for the bannana.... then i took an arrow to the knee

  • And then the monkey who shakes it up and goes against established best practices (don't climb the ladder) screws over al lthe other monkeys and gets them hosed down (what happens when you climb the ladder). Be careful what parrallels you draw from these types of things. Sometimes things "are done that way around here" for a reason. Did your mother just say you wear a seatbelt in a car around here or explain that you would get in a crash a die a horrible death? And did you go against it?

  • it is cheap and sensationalistic, when the bruises and blood on the guys face are makeup and photoshop. the part of the 5 monkeys is fine on it's own. adding a pic of a guy getting beaten by a fake cop with his face all bloody, seems cheap to me. but be that as it may...

  • haha, i had to do an assignment today for this video as extra credit. easy 100% XD

  • so sad

  • ALSO DONT FORGET RELIGION!

  • you forfot where the original 5 also beat each other

  • In the beginning I thought this was going to take a different path. Like the first new Monkey climbs the stairs and grabs the banana because he paid off the Government and it's agency heads, and becomes a tycoon. LOL.

  • This little morality tale can work both ways.

For example: use *hand grenades* instead of bananas.

  • Screw the collective...

  • please actually try this experiment because i guarantee you this would not be the result.

  • This actually explains religion.

  • @fegu It explains everything! ... our whole messy up society!

  • @fegu - 110% correct.

  • @fegu Not only religion. It explains the state of intelligence we're living in right now. Everybody just believes what the "most believeable thing" called culture tells us. We're still bunch fuckin' monkeys because we still don't think with our own brain..

  • but there's always a group of humans critical to the stablishment. and that is the difference between monkeys and humans.

  • This is excellent I am a monkey. bloody zionist jews

  • PERFECT :) Great work !

  • I think that the second new monkey will team up with the other new monkeys to fight off the old monkeys and go get the banana, especially when they're starving!

  • This result is not so surprising, if you take a look on the topic "cognitive bias" in wikipedia. Due to the short amount of time to make important decisions in the past (like escaping a predator) , primates had to develop a faster way to acquire knowledge from the environment. This had to a price: decisions are not optimal ones, are just good enough. Also, in the channel of philosophyfreak there is a nice explanation about this.

  • YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS

  • This is all assuming that monkeys are completely incapable of communicating the water danger to each other...but, as proved from recent experiments on crows, this may not be the case. Animals are, atleast to some extent, capable of passing on past information to future genrations.

  • i found 10 monkeys but i couldn't find suits

  • What isn't mentioned is that monkeys don't have history books, the internet or anything else to reference the banana with. Humans do. This example is flawed in that it doesn't represent the environment we live in.

  • is this from blender because i had to work with blender a lot in school, and the monkey heads look very familiar

  • Very true!

  • Great video! I wonder if monkeys really are that stupid though, or if it's only humans. This explains how police men and soldiers can make themselves do what they do.

I wonder what would happen if someone somehow hit the reset button on our planet. I'm pretty sure we'd live together in peace and harmony forever..

  • @selvmordspilot yep, exactly ... police I'd drop the men bit though I don't see too many acting like really men lately, they seem to be getting more cowardly, kicking skinny protesters off bikes, shooting crouching women with rubber bullets, piling 7-8 a time on top of someone they need to arrest to bump their statistics, I'm surprised we haven't seen some nutter go on a rampage & turn cop killer before now ... But back to your other point no I don't believe monkeys are that stupid. ...

  • Brilliant!

  • Great communique and application of the saying "When a well-packaged web of lies has been gradually sold to the masses over generations, the Truth will seem utterly preposterous..."

  • @Xpozethcorupt that's a good saying!

  • Was this experiment done by Harry Harlow ?

Any info who first experiment that.

  • No banana is worth a single drop of blood.

  • @PaulGiffs

If it's my banana and you try to steal it you'll find out differently...

Don't understand? Follow my links. Read the quotes page first.

  • @PaulGiffs If you honestly thought that then America would have never existed. People fight and die for what they believe in, if they don't then their spineless worthless scum.

  • very good man... respect

  • @Gunslinger2071 THE LIGHT HATH ORDERED ME TO PROTECT THE WEAK FROM THE CYNICAL.

  • @zypherax Ahaha! Now who will protect the cynical from the caps lock?

  • @Gunslinger2071 NOONE

  • lol this describes religion and the opposite which is freedom and liberty, religion punishes you as soon as you try to be free!

  • Orwell was concerned with the power of totalitarian systems to instill beliefs firmly held, widely accepted despite having no foundation, at variance with obvious facts about the world around.

=^.^= Trouble is, there's a "foundation" for the established "belief" (taboo) because YOU (Godforce analogy) are still there to spray climbing apes. Aanalogous to mice having a taboo against approaching mousetraps, though they know not why.

Kill the master, monkeys eat but for a day. So apes get caged.

  • This is also a very good story for management to teach people not the thing you are doing everyday is right.

  • should have sprayed them with beer

  • 47 government zombies have seen this clip.

  • Who cares about getting wet? I want some damn bananas!

  • Please someone explain, why is the new monkey assaulted? because the other monkeys don't want the new monkey to be wet too? If it is that way, then the original monkeys cares about the new monkey?

  • @jhakhohbhy Because the original monkeys don't want to get wet. You should really try watching and listening to the video :P

  • @voidlam thanks, all of them are sprayed with water, I thought the monkey that tries to get the banana is the only monkey sprayed :) thanks

  • @jhakhohbhy All of the monkeys are sprayed with cold water. Thus if a newcomer approaches the banana all the monkeys will be sprayed.

  • @jhakhohbhy

The vid was not clear. It meant the monkeys not climbing the stairs were sprayed with painfully cold water.

  • Interesting stuff, but the main difference between humans and monkeys is that humans have more ability to use reasoning and logic than most monkeys. This is why it is extremely important to always be critical and think about what you're doing. If not, you might never ever get the banana that's waiting at the top of the stairs, no matter how easy it may be.

  • THOSE ARE NOT MONKIES THOSE ARE PEOPLE WITH A POORLY DESIGNED MONKEY MASK ON

  • What's PETA have to say about that?

  • I would say that we are about at the time when the monkees choose to go rogue !!!, by "climing out of the cage" !!!, Screw that one banana, we want them all !!!

  • Short, sweet, effective and to the point. Thanks for this :)

  • @seiya1337 Thank you for your kind words.

  • Put the Jungle VIP in there !

OOObeee Dooooo I don't think like YOU HOO HOO

  • @philosopher3000 "behavioral training only works on animals.", you having a laugh?!

  • @Mr14G

The difference between animals and human beings is that humans have the ability to reason. Through the power of self-reflection, this gives us the 'free-will' to choose either follow our instinctual animal nature, or ignore it and act rationally. The fact that many, if not most, human beings lazily choose to follow their instinct and thus to act as animals, does not disrupt my premise. Stated another way, 'those human beings upon which behavioral training works, are animals'.

  • @philosopher3000 Here we see an animal that has been convinced through its experiences that it is not an animal.

  • @vidz4funz never claimed not to be an animal, just the ability to reason, monkey.

  • That's right people, don't be like the monkeys in this video, by acting like sheep!

  • @justinrunes: It may explain ANY kind of unreflected tradition, among which religion is the most prominent one... ;-)

  • It explains why jews vote for Obama who is no friend to Israel, Why some gay groups support islamic terrorist organizations that would have them hanged, and why the black community continues to support the Democrats that wish to keep them dependent on the gov.

  • @Eddiefry What gay groups support support Islamic terrorist ? I've read some pretty stupid shit but that got to takes first prize. Yup, your a moron.

  • @gvg1970 Oh Really, Im a moron? or are you just uninformed, did you even take a single minute to look it up before ranting there is no such thing? no you did not or you would have found several examples, Here is just one for you since you do not seem capable of looking it up for yourself homosexualsforhamas.blogspot (dotkom)

  • It would be the maximum trolling of that banana was fake too

  • This is why marijuana is not yet legal

  • this is why marijuana is illegal. also, wizards.

  • This is why marijuana is not yet legal

  • This is why marijuana is not yet legal

  • that picture at the end made my blood boil

  • Is this the same as Stephenson's 1967 paper? I am interested in further discussion.

Reference: Stephenson, G. R. (1967). Cultural acquisition of a specific learned response among rhesus monkeys. In: Starek, D., Schneider, R., and Kuhn, H. J. (eds.), Progress in Primatology, Stuttgart: Fischer, pp. 279-288.

  • Was this an actual study with real monkeys and bananas or is this just something you pulled out of the air?

  • @nothatsaknife thin air!!!!!!

  • That banana has to be rotten by now!

  • group culture that you see in any workplace can be hereditary

  • Is that Suzanne? Belnder's monkey?

  • Water represents "the law". Banana represents God-given rights to pursue happiness, or your natural rights if you're atheist. These are rights you're born with, not "granted by government". We instituted our government (the constitution) to PROTECT our INDIVIDUAL rights - not "democratic rights" (majority rule). We're the monkeys. Evil men & women have turned it upside down and we've allowed it. Now, like the monkeys, we have been trained to think government is our master. Protest & get hosed.

  • @kevjay777 EXACTLY

  • @kevjay777 I've always thought like that!

  • @kevjay777 Protest & get beat***

  • True ... However, every once in a while a new monkey comes into the cage and breaks free ... fights back ... and GETS the banana

  • this is called evolution....if anyone would try .....would get sprayed....but this video is pointless.....it's like saying ....we should all do things ....even if others say that we should do it....

  • this is how government works in uneducated 3rd class countries, and I'm not proud to live in one of these..

  • and THAT is how you explain the republican party.

  • @Winonasalibi hahaha exact opposite dumbass

  • "the new monkeys were never sprayed with cold water" - that's the whole point, the new monkeys by following old rules never had to suffer the cold water punishment.

that's thumbs up for society i think

  • THANK YOU!!! I've always tried to explain this without being able to because I always took the longer "ask why" approach which always cause frustration... Now I have the 5 monkeys! THANKS!!!

  • Important quote from vid "Everyone has the right to create and share"

  • i just don't know why the monkeys are wearing suits.

  • @justin; good point, it kinda does.

  • Good video, except the end.

  • this is sometimes true...but not always.

  • WOULDN'T THIS EXPLAIN RELIGION?

  • @justinrunes: YES!

  • @justinrunes it would explain society and culture in general.

  • @justinrunes I'll assume yours is a sincere question - not in the case of Christianity, because all true believers have personal experience of Jesus Christ and know that he dwells with them.

  • @justinrunes better than it explains government!

  • @justinrunes

i guess this explains almost everything, from religion to racism, from wearing a certain kind of clothes to feeling the need to own a car even if you live in a place where you can't walk a meter without seeing a subway station.

The only thing that can't be explained is Justin Bieber.

  • @justinrunes yes it would :)

  • @justinrunes Well said. This is called 'learned helplessness' which is the hallmark of religious cultures. This is why Pakistan, Afghanistan and Arabian nations live in intellectual poverty and misery. Nobody dares to rise.

  • @justinrunes wouldnt it explain everything?

    society as a whole?

why we fight, why we hate, why we fear, why we work our asses off for money, useless shreds of paper. we do it because its what everyone else has told us its what were supposed to do, thats life, you work your ass off, you get money, you save it up so you dont HAVE to work, when your old. you cant enjoy your money all that much then can you? but isnt that how life is supposed to be?

not by a long shot, im sure.

  • @justinrunes if this is reliegion who were the ones spraying the monkeys with cold water?

  • @ConsumedByDrums WHY IS GOD PEEING ON MONKEYS IS WHUT I WANTA KNOW.

  • @ConsumedByDrums It would be the other church goers

  • @justinrunes DON'T FORGET SCIENCE. Capslockoff.

  • @justinrunes and racism

  • @justinrunes Not exactly. :-) But it may explain what we call CONSCIENCE

C = condit. obedience through vicarious learning & is a part of all ideological systems secular & religious

Observing reactions of others, we learn behaviors leading to social disapproval. Only later do some of us develop critical thinking skills needed to question tradition.

Phenom. of religion is still disputed. Psychology recognizes Evolutionary(Terror Management) & Social theories of R., both not without flaws.

  • Very accurate analogy. Seen this scenario in action first hand here in Turkey.

  • Pretty cool!

  • That's amazing!

  • introduce a nigger...

    all the monkeys are shot.

    nigger takes the banana.

  • well aren't you the most ignorant person...

  • have they ever really done this experiment before?

  • stumbled from georgia

  • Comment removed

  • nobody cares when people stumbleupon from somewhere...just stop

  • stop being a fag

  • lol, Have you taken anything beyond psych 101?

  • took the words out of my mouth. lol.

  • freaky ass monkeys

  • I have many Bananas and you can have them and some water too because thats the way it is done around here.

  • Haahahaha. Zero to hero, just like that!

  • dude. Stumble from OR.

  • @flamingponypro no one gives a shit

  • i really like this but it would be cool if you got a little more creative at the end and said what would happen next in society or, if not that, then made the metaphor more obvious

  • @tamale27 the metaphor was pretty fucking obvious.

  • stumbled upon from ct

  • stumbled from auckland new zealand

  • @dtslayer123321123321

    same here bro

  • what part? i live in central auckland do you by any chane live in glen eden

  • Stumbled from Bloomington

  • Stumbled from Los Angeles California!

  • "...and that is how government policy is maintained."

    WHAT?

  • @lightmobile often the government maintains what has been done for the past ___(insert number) years, even if the current government itself does not know exactly why they are maintaining it, or have not carefully understood why it is to be maintained in such an order

  • stumbled from MN

  • Yep - this is the same method that has been used against the American public for the last 100 years or so by progressives / the extreme left. They have been training us via law suits, school indoctrination, global warming lies etc. They didn't think the monkeys would ever wake up. But they DID - and now the progressives / the left are scrambling to keep the cage doors shut. Oops! It's not going to work! Change IS coming - just not the kind you THOUGHT you were going to get PROGRESSIVES!

  • I'm not sure that's the point he was trying to make... I don't think think he is targeting a single group, I think this is meant for everyone.

  • @flint1138: it is targeting all stupid beliefs we currently think (well most of humans at least) are definite and final without knowing why. Can you tell me why it is OK for a child to see someone being murdered on TV but it is NOT OK for it to see a boob or, wow, a penis? And before you answer, please find any scientific studies confirming your claim. And keep in mind that I am NOT claiming that this must or should be changed, I am simply asking a question which I do not know the answer to.

  • global warming lies?

    hahaha you're very ignorant.

  • I'm ignorant? You had best pull ur head out of -the sand- and investigate the FACTS like lies exposed in East Anglia emails, Al Gore's "hockey stick" is mis-leading bcuz rising temperatures cause rising CO2 (not the opposite), notable global warming scientists are exposing that data has been manipulated etc etc. In FACT there is a mountain of evidence (and more each day) that the whole thing is nothing but a socialist power grab and money grab.

  • how does one manipulate rising temperatures? are you one of those people who think because its snowing a lot more that there is no global warming?

  • @88stratocaster "rising temperatures cause rising CO2 (not the opposite)"

For fuck's sake, they're called greenhouse gasses for a reason.

  • I guess I touched a nerve! heheh

  • @88stratocaster Uh no, try again. You just said something that made you sound extraordinarily misinformed, go take a 9th grade Earth Systems class and come back here and say that with a straight face.

  • What on earth has that got to do with the left? Seems to me an attempt to describe democratic law making practices regardless of their political orientation

  • What I said above is just a realistic example of how the principle has been / is being used.

  • stumble

  • Greatly illustrated point!

  • Stumbled from UK

  • Stumbled from Roseto, PA

  • So wait a minute. Society is kept from its potential to accumulate bananas by a series of monkeys in orange suits who live in a cage floating in the middle of infinite space? I don't get it

  • wow.

  • damn

  • That is so true. o-o

  • dang.

  • i also see some classical and operant conditioning at its finest.

  • is there any video/research on this 5 monkey experiment? I would love to see that instead of the cartoon monkeys.

  • The monkeys represent our government!

  • this...is amazing!
