The only way they are able to do so is through government regulation such as licensing laws, corporate protections and the tax system. @MrFreeCookie I'm currently undergoing treatment for a rare cancer in Australia. Let me tell you that you're wrong. Socialised healthcare has saved my life. I have received care from top doctors and surgeons, my medication is subsidised by the government and have extra services such as counselling and dietary advice available. I also have private health care. My private healthcare provider does not pay for my medication and have refused to admit me to hospitals in the past.

The average private sector teacher makes half what a public union teacher makes. @MastermindX Insurance companies are able to raise prices because they are protected by the government. Nobody needs to be making billions in profits. The only way they are able to do so is through government regulation such as licensing laws, corporate protections and the tax system. If the free market would be aloud to function, competition would immediately undercut the existing insurers and they'd be forced to lower their rates.

A large corporation that becomes "greedy" and attempts to raise their prices will simply be undercut by a new entrepreneur. In a free market system there is always a downward pressure on prices driven by consumer demand for lower prices. The only way a monopoly can form is when the Gov't imposes barriers to entry (Taxes, laws regulation ect.) I would suggest not basing your arguments on blind assertions in the future.

I have received care from top doctors and surgeons, my medication is subsidised by the government and have extra services such as counselling and dietary advice available. I also have private health care. My private healthcare provider does not pay for my medication and have refused to admit me to hospitals in the past.

@algi80 @Patience1138 The fact is socialist policies have rendered Canada a crumbling shit hole. Just try going to the doctors hear. Good luck because 40% of people in Quebec don't even have a family doctor! I don't have one. So everyone is forced to wait LITERALLY days in the emergency room for ANY medical care. THAT is socialism. And it's a fucking disaster.

@algi80 @Patience1138 Not to mention the wait times, I had to wait 17 hours in the waiting room for tendon surgery. 17 FUCKING HOURS. Everything is so disorganized and underfunded. Many people have literally DIED waiting, especially cancer patients because there is a shortage of oncologists in Canada. BTW: I live in the Capital city (ottawa), not some little town. Socialism is an utter disaster.

Here in Sweden, the healthcare is payed by taxes and the healthcare is awesome.
And there's 7 or 8 different parties that are semi-big, all with different political views.
The party that is most looked down upon (or mayeb the only one looked down upon?) is the strongly nationalistic party, since well, they're strongly nationaltistic and blame many things on the immirgrants it feels like.
