I have a similar crack - I was sat down on a concrete slab with some friends, it fell out of my school trousers pocket about ankle hight, and i didn't notice the crack until later on, i didnt suspect it would shatter from that atall.

P.S the reason they dont make unbreakable glass is because they make thousands of dollers every week replacing them (cracks arent on warranty)

ok to answer your question Apple does not waste their time on a simple issue of unbreakable glass because they want you to pay extra per month on phone protection. Most of us say screw it I don't need cell phone insurance I won't lose it. That may be true but it also entails damage, so we are forced to pay big bucks to fix it because we do not have phone insurance. Easy profit gained by Apple.

i dropped my htc touch diamond onto a steel countertop then onto the concrete floor... not a scratch, then into a saucepan full of hot beans, a little dirty but ok. onto concrete floor outside, tarmac loads of times, nothing, my htc hero, onto carpeted floor granted, but fine, i lean on it, sit on it, have it in the same pocket as keys, nothing... its fine...

look at an iphone wrong and it cracks. i get it, super sensetive screen, its a tradeoff but comeone, my hero is mega sensetive and strong

There is no such thing as unbreakable anything, you can break any solid into smaller solids. I guess... Why don't they put stronger glass, maybe bullet RESISTANT glass in the iPhone?  And the answer to that is - it's expensive. In order for Apple to make money off of the phone, they would have to charge even MORE than the already outrageous prices. That glass is expensive. It's bullet resistant because it's THICK, nothing more... I don't want an iPhone that thick...

i agree with you totally 100% its so sexy but again its slippery and you wont have it as long as you desire. i would rather have a decent looking cell[not as good looking as iphone] and have it for my desired time. Right now im under sprint i dont have the most popular cell but it makes my calls and sends my texts. it dosent have a fancy touch screen but a phone is a phone, its not a pc, ipod etc its a phone! even though majority of cells include those features i want a simple non delicate cell.

Hey Graham!You do some great Videos!That is a real bummer!I know two people here in the uk who have broke their Iphones,I think the most Important think with any phone is a good High Quality case,If your friend gets his screen repaired I would buy a good leather Flip Front case,another friend has got a Piel Frama Flip front case and hes dropped it loads of times and very highly recommends them.Silicone Skin cases are useless because they do not cover the screen.

Want a phone with a fragile screen ? Try the original Nokia N95. The screen on this is just the LCD glass itself, NO protective cover. I had a N95 screen shatter from just been in my pocket.

BTW the 8gig black N95 has protection on the screen. Guess Nokia done things right with this one.

Man, my Sony Ericson can do better. A good rubber back, nice and compact, and though I doubt I'll experiment this, it can probably take falling at hip height fairly well.
