This absolutely does not solve a problem if the child is hurting others or deliberately disobeying after being given a warning. Putting books in a corner to provide a "happy place" is just breeding a spoiled child who has no comprehension of consequences. Experiencing parenthood firsthand on a daily basis is much harder than standing in front of an audience of adults and lecturing about parenthood. The ideas presented here are silly and delusional.
@rawforthesoul You know Jane has successfully raised 7 children right? So I think she has that experiencing parenthood firsthand thing covered. Her teachings are great and work well!
Finally! Someone gives parents specific and clear steps to take when time out doesn't work. Thanks Jane. By the way, my wife and I love the positive discipline guidelines you gave us at your site. Steve D.
This did not work for my kid. He is too smart, he put the book in time out and walked away
