Oh my god, what an intro! It gives me the chills everytime. Perfect piece of music this is, where Phil's voice is the keypart what keeps his song perfectly together. Art.
To jibjub80: who wrote about a year ago saying the fathe was vicious and he hoped this didn't really happen. It's happening as I write these words. May the wrong be redeemed and the innocent be saved. No religion involved as I write that...or...yours..... . Just a wishful thought.
the singer is the song, and allmost songs are the singers world, and i think they soul makes the melodies to the real life to tell, that's it what people feel.
A powerful song which can only truely be understood by those who went throught it, it is what defines us, no matter how life progresses, even when great success, it is this that we feel the most, it is this that we are, we can never be more, it is our foundation made of hurt, of betrayal, incomprehensible, a sin against nature, forever wounded, we can never allow anyone too close, "things were never easy for me, peace of mind was hard to find", a work of genius by genesis
to my brothers and sisters, have a look at the website zetatalk.com it may save your life keep an open mind i came here to find you who are like me so i could warn you watch for the strange weather and the earthquakes it will get worse end times
My dad's mom told the same thing to his sister when she ran away as a teen to her other side of the family for help because of constant abuse from her mother...her other side of the family began using her so she ran back to her mother for forgivness...her response was "I forgive but don't forget"...she never talked to her again...and when she died her last words were "never let her come to my grave"..my dad told me that if I ever ran, I would be a traitor, and he would reject me as his daughter
What a nasty son of a bitch pussypumper this father is. What he said to the son was VICIOUS. I'm hoping that this song is fictitious and Phil isn't writing about somebody who actually spoke those words to his son.
You Spoke true words from every child that has suffered, been in that kind of life & emerged from broken homes. I happened to of been one of those children who had a violent old man like many who unfortunately it happens all over the world to sadly many lives.
@too0pathetic You know what the sad part about it is? Hardly anything is done to solve the problem, usually out of fear of repercussions or political correctness or invasion of privacy... but I believe the line has to be drawn somewhere.
@SPeacock Banning smacking as some countries have done is no good either. I live in New Zelanad and a law was passed against smacking...yet kids are still killed from Domestic Violence.
@Jibjub80 mate there are lots of "fathers" who say those words to their sons, i'm an example, i'm 18 and have been living on my own for a year now, i grew up with my father calling me a "piece of shit", an "accident" "worthless piece of crap" being hit for stupid things, i remember being only 10 and my brother broke a clock in the kitchen and i said it was me to save my brother, i got the living shit beat out of me for a fucking clock... trust me this kind of stuff if very REAL AND very WRONG
@sblopez08 those words are make me cry and angry! I'm thinking that Children are our Life and they should be loved and take all our care....pls forgive me my bad english
@MrsCaptainChili your english is ok, and yes i agree, it makes me angry to know that just what i had wasn't as bad as some other kids get, i had a hard early life (can't call it a childhood) but to think about what some kids in the world have, i just don't get why people like that even have kids, my dad always told me i was a mistake and he wish i wasn't born to ruin his life, well for a while so did i, but now i'm 19 and sucssesful, i have accomplished more than he could ever, money and life
This song is the story of my life. Can't count how many times I cried at night while listening to this song sleeping under bridges and on sidewalks while hitchhiking around on the streets with not a soul in the world to care. Another Day In Paradise is another good one. I wanna know how knows exactly how people in those situations feel. Amazing guy, Phil Collins.
@ragnaroksangel I'm sorry about your Story! I can`t believe, that Parents, not only Fathers, can do this to their Childs...let me take you in my arms. hoping youre a better Father to your sons oder daughter
Such an intense lyrics and especially DRUMS !!! Beats any fucking Metallica or Megadeth drummers by a million. Long Live PHIL !!!!!!!!!!!
