The Bush administration recently urged congress to push forward a $700 billion dollar mortgage bail out to unfreeze the nation's credit market (not including Fannie, Freddie, AIG, etc); the war in Iraq coast $10 billion dollars a week; we are about to send more reinforcements into Afghanistan; we want strong national security; border protection; and our infastruction not to collapse...How do we pay for it???

with the bailout of the mortgage co's and AIG a modest tax increase will no doubt be needed but I reject Obama's plan as bad for small business, bad for all. AIG had to be helped or millions would have lost their insurance. I guess in this instance there has to be some tax increase.

that will include a lot of small businesses because they are taxed at the individual rate; this is bad, small business accounts for 80% of our work force. We don't need all these failing businesses with our economy the way it is.
Depending on where you live $250,000 could be a middle class family with 2 working spouses in professional fields
with kids in high school or college and tons of expenses.

Joe came from a working class family, and he worked his arse off to get to where he is...he is also rated as one of the "poorest" Senators, although Senators make around $160,000 a year so that's not really a good argument. But the Supreme Court ruling in June says that these thugs have the right to be tried in Federal court. That means in US cities. I think they should be tried on military bases with top security. These guys and their friends on the outside are capable of horrible acts if some nutjob judge lets them go. They could car bomb our hotels like the one in Pakistan, or put bombs or infectious agents in the subway or infrastructure. It was a bad day in for our country. I agree with McCain.

Lets look at Nov: the major media has built Obama into the Country's saviour (which he can't live up to) and McCain as satan (which he's not).
Most voters do not pay attention until a few weeks prior to election day.

You also have to admit that choosing Palin was a brilliant move, and not because she's female. What it did was draw a comparision and parallel between Obama & Palin. Putting them on the a level playing field (the VP level)... and where does that leave McCain?...he's above them, all by himself, looking Presidential. I'm not a huge McCain supporter but you have to admit that during the Dem primaries Obama only had to get the approval of fellow Democrats and even then he could never break 50%. Now, in the general election, he has to gain favor of the rest of America and he isn't fairing too well. we know all about McCain but there are a slew of questions yet to be asked to, and answered by, Obama.

I heard, right now, Palin is getting a crash course in all Foreign Affairs, Iraq/Pakistan/Iran, Constitutional Law,etc. The only thing I worry about is that Biden will be too much of a Gentleman to smack her down hard enough. You're right marzner, Biden will probably win the debate if for the only reason that he has a proven record of simply making things up when asked questions. A good politician needs to be glib and, like a used car salesman, say what ever needs to be said to "close" the deal. He has much more experience at spin, empty promises and rhetoric than Palin. It will only be in the days after the debate that we will find out how many times he mis-spoke or told an untruth (because politicians NEVER "lie")

He's there to make Life in America a better place for us all-which he has done many times.But you would only know that if you Checked out his record. Putting all of his proven past plagarisms aside, there are countless examples from his personal life: first in his family in college; his academic record and achievements etc.
But most recently he stated he was against taxpayer-funded abortions, yet voted for such on different occasions/amendmants in 5/03, 7/03, 4/05 & as recently as 2/08.
I know "abortion" is a buzz word (I'm not saying I'm for or against) so lets not get sidetracked.

But I'm not here to bash Biden, I'm fairly cynical of politics in general. I'd rather look behind the scenes at the undeniable truths of politics and what will happen regardless of what names are on the ballot.
I'm not talking conspiracy theories (Illuminati) or any of that garbage but simply our limited media-driven attention spans and willingness to believe what we want to hear and simultaneously ignore facts that contradict our viewpoint.
Which is why the republicans will win in November.

As for the McC-Ob debates: only McCain has "walked his talk."
McCain is campaigning on issues that he has fought for his entire career: military strength, lower taxes (smaller gov't), bipartisanship & absolutely NO earmarks. He has walked his talk.
Obama, on the other hand, states things he has never addressed or attempted in his limited career. He has never sought consensus with the other side, always voting the extreme left. He has done a 180 on most every issue leading into the convention

Marner1, No, it's not the most important issue. It is however the biggest separator of the voting public. It defines the idiology of the parties. Without sounding too coarse, you're "privileged" to say the things you do because of Soldiers! They are the keepers of the peace, they walk the fence at night while you sleep and since you are writing you should thank a teacher and since you're writing in English, Thank a soldier. My chances are better if I vote for experience in McCain and Palin

McCain and Palin say they're going to bring change. What exactly are they going to change? They didn't give us any economic plan, only attacks on Obama and using the phrase "angry left" to stir up their own anger. They act tough and talk tough, but now Palin won't subject herself to any tough questions from reporters "until the point in time when she'll be treated with respect and deference." If she's so tough, why can't she handle the media?

This whole Liberal/Conservative talk is irrelevant. How is Bush conservative? What has he conserved? Lives in an inexcusable mess of a war? Our tax money? The environment? Old growth forests? Endangered species? I'd say he's very liberally thrown away our constitutional rights along with our jobs, our economy and our livelihood. He's conserved nothing. He's like an irresponsible, rich 18 year old with a credit card; max it out and let someone else deal with it.

Yes, it was a lot of huey. The way that Mitt went on calling for a conservative SCOTUS ( when everyone knows it's 4-3 in favor of conservatives) or talked about the the Dems going the same direction as the EU ("it leads to moribund growth and double-digit unemployment"); having studied the EU's economy recently, I'll take some that so-called "moribund growth" he's talking about: their trade deficit is balanced.

I think it is wierd that people keep bbashing bush for signing bills that the the dems put on his desk and spending so much money on things, he has given them most of the spending bills they want and they still hate him. Financially Bush might as well be a Dem.
i like the little bubble that pops on the screen saying that all Reps are rich and don't shop at walmart, yet every person you see bashing Republicans is a rich and/or a movie star.

The Republicans are going to drill oil and dig us out of this fabled oil crisis imposed on our economy. To the contrary which the Democrats having been denying OUR own companies here at home those rights to drill by voting down every legislative bill that would enable them to drill.
You have to ask yourself what country do the Democrats swear alligience too.
This is what happens when ideals and free thinking(aka being unrealistic) take priority over common sense and sworn duty.

I don't know about you Mr.Biden but I heard the testimony of two people who sincerely love America and have given much for it. Yet you sir seem to have done here the most hurtful thing one American can do to another and that is to undermine their love for their own country. Maybe you need to open some American history books and find out that true love for this country is sacrifice and honor and not about ideologies and idealisms that have the power to damage liberty for us all.
