Sal Masakela is a fucking idiot..its from 1997 and they are called 'Murphy Flips' named for Jason Murphy. Duh! go rent the movie 'destroyer' by whitey
Agreed Travis should have won last year, Torstein should have won this year though or maybe it would have been Mikkel Bang if it had not been the peoples vote.
Torstein is dope! Possibly the best switch rider ever, clean as hell. Stomps just about anything and the signature style. Also, his jacket is fucking dope in this video.
he lands everything soo damn smooth, it's unreal. i'd agree on the switch back 12 being harder, cept horgmo tweaked this jump with the late cork, and made it look original. style points, i like this trick better. it wasn't a normal bs 900 corked, what he did to it made it that much harder and that much better.
I agree 100% with switch airs bein way fuckin hard but thats not to say its the hardest, im going to have to say switch back 12 is just a tiny bit harder. And switch backside is definitely the hardest way to spin, front and backside are regular so theres no arguing there not easier than switch, cab is easier cause you can spot the takeoff easy but switch back is fuckin hard... switch and blind off your wrong toe edge, its crazy to think he did a switch back 12 and a switch back late corked 9
yeah, i would say that a switch straight grab is the hardest snowboarding trick when going big. I'm not trying to say that it insane on a small jump though....still a little weird. I saw some skier hit chad's gap backwards with no spin and land backwards....thats gotta be a crazy feeling.....peace.
first of all sw bs spin, thats the worst spin there is.
second. ive seen about 50 different double rodeos, and double corks. but ive never ever seen a switch backside 1260 been done before torstein came along.
in real life you dont even spin 1080 on a double rodeo, its just that the two flips counts as a 360 each. the 1260 may look easier, but it sure aint.
sw bs is actually reallllly easy once you start doing it pretty often... its my best way to spin personally
and you might have seen some FRONTSIDE double corks/rodeos but there was only one BACKSIDE double rodeo ever done before TR and it wasn't in competition
ooh there is alot more people than eero and travis who have pulled that of. get a norwegian snow film called notes and youll see about 3-4 of double backside rodeos in pow, and theyre all ams... and frankly if i had to try one of them, i would easily go for the double rodeo, cos its a much more easy spin, and you dont need all that air to do it either, compared to the 50m 1260s torstein does, and he spins like crazy to.
i don't think you understand how easy it is to just throw your shoulders while going fast to do a flat 1260 as compared to actually doing one backside rodeo and then having the mindset to change your grab so that you pull the second one around, and all the while trying to spot your landing which is easy for torstein seeing as he does see it every 180
every one here who says that any sw bs spin is easy should just stop snowboarding period and torstein threw it down so clean that hal called it a 9 at first. don't get me wrong TR rocks but torstein had the better trick
he did do one 9 and thats the one i think sal was referring to, im just saying there are soo many more people that can do a switch bs 5 than a backside rodeo 5, and while another flat 180 added to a spin is relatively new, a DOUBLE rodeo is basically unheard of
Switch doesn't matter hitting jumps unless you do a straight air. I prefer to spin counterclock wise, i'm goofy footed, so i prefer spinning frontside switch stance....and the trick was a switch backside 360 to late corky b-rode 5. He did it cause when he hucked himself, he put too much weight on his front foot. you see a lot of beginners get in that position when they are learning b-3's. peace.
"Switch doesn't matter hitting jumps unless you do a straight air." so is a switch straight air the hardest trick in snowboarding? By the way everyone is more comfortable spinning cab goofball
it was a cork 9, its just that he corked it on the second rotation. Also, about switch backside spins: most riders do switch backside spins just to add an extra 180 to their spin and make it seem harder, even though it really isn't. For example: if i do a fs double cork 9, and i want to do a double cork 10, its easier just to go in cab, do a quick bs 1, and it sets you up perfectly for the next 900 degrees of the rotation and its basically just the double cork 9 u've been practicing all along
Yea, he's definitely right, but it's not that much easier, that extra little cab makes it harder that the regular rotation, plus comfort level switch is generally lower except in veteran riders.
because the teamriders get all their stuff in like december or even earlier.. So they got their stuff in December 2007, and theyre getting their 2010 stuff soon..
it's a cork, definitely. exactly that happens if you spin backside and grab the indy in the rotation. your weight is the on the back foot (here on his left foot). it looks like a rodeo, but it's a cork, because you don't jump on the backside edge off (jump off? sorry if i^t's wrong grammatic. I'm not american and not brittish)
nananahh look at wiig's bs rodeo 9. He jumps off the toe edge as well.. cork 9 you dip the shoulder in the other direction. I think this was something between a normal switch bs 9 and switch bs rodeo 9.
I mean i can do cork 9s but not that crazy thing he did.
In an interview btw, torstein said he has no idea what he's thrown down here. He wanted to do sw bs 12, but was kinda slow and it just kinda ended up in this crazy jump
anyone know what kind of jacket Todd Richards was wearing while co-hosting this event? you can kinda see it in the vid with the green blue and grey jacket in the background.

its not a double cork, its a double bs rodeo
torstein didn't go corked on his 12, and had a stock grab
Travis did two different rodeos, two different grabs, and only did a 180 less than torstein?
