..and then i went to see it from the beginning. thanks for hooking me in!<3

  • LOL when you were like in Portland I was like OMG!!!! and then you said maine.....,. :(

    I llive in Portland OR

  • Ok. But are they each put up separately? I mean, at the end of the school year will she have to take them down one at a time or are they on some sort of backing to facilitate reuse?

  • Your walls are so awesome!!! What are all the pictures and how do you get them up like that?

  • She put a call out to viewers at the beginning of her semester to send in postcards to decorate her walls :)

  • Legislation is passed or blocked by the offshore banks in accordance with their agendas. The old idea that the body-politic has any say is long gone. The Social Contract is in ruins

Bills are generated in think tanks by policy wonks who serve hidden agendas. They are hired by global corporations like Goldman Sachs, DynCorp, Cargill, Blackwater, Bank of London, Monsanto, Agenda 21 foundation, etc.

Your peaceful demonstrations mean nothing. Nothing short of armed revolution will save us

  • I can't believe prop. 1 passed!!!!!! How the hell are people okay with taking away peoples rights?!

  • Dang i missed it!!

  • me too

    ~Nat

  • FINALLY SOMETHING HAPPENING IN MY TOWN AND I MISSED IT.

    *whimpersigh*

  • start drinking that hand sanitizer! you cant miss Wrockstock.

  • i was so sad i missed all the shows today, but i saw Lauren announce the points, it made my day ^^ Wish i could go to wrockstock!!! stupid exams and different contenents tend to get in the way though :(

  • if you over use hand sanitizer you grow immune to it

  • I went to the Wrock for Equality event this morning and went door to door. I was really happy after two hours of walking around to strangers' doors in the pouring rain, every single person that I talked to was in support of No on 1.

The morning concert (i had to leave in the afternoon) was also awesome. Paul jumped off the stage, knocked over the video camera, fell onto the ground, got back up, and then fell forward over our table, all while rockin out.

    Seriously. Great times.

  • Ahhhhhh.

    You said "Portland"

and I was thinking "Oregon?" with such hope in me.

This lasted for the millisecond between Portland and Maine.

    Arggghh.

    Sounds cool though.

  • Hand sanitizer kills ringworm...and possibly other fungal infections

  • Wow, this sounds awesome! I hope you manage to get this, marriage should be an option for everyone no matter what their sexuality is...

  • Wrock 4 Equality sounds awesome! I hope Maine doesn't have to go through the same disappointment we Californians did.

  • I don't mean to sound harsh hear but California voted for Proposition 8 so a majority of Californians were not disapointed.

  • I've banished those people from ever being included in a collective pronoun with myself?

  • Unfortunately, Prop 8 doesn't affect the people who were not disappointed. Nice of them to take away other people's rights and be happy about it getting passed.

  • But isn't that the whole point? Whether gay marriage is a right or not? And legalized gay marriage affects everyone no matter what their stance is. Have you ever heard of the butterfly effect? It is the same thing. Legalizing or not legalizing gay marriage affects our society which does affect me no matter what my beliefs are.

  • I find it funny that on the HP alliance website, they show you wearing your Ravenclaw tie instead of Hufflepuff... ;)

  • Yeah, they're just contributing to the confusion. People don't seem to understand that when I'm dressed as Myrtle, it doesn't make me a Ravenclaw. It makes Myrtle a Ravenclaw.

  • I love your coat! Where did you get it?

  • YES! for gay marriage :) i have a lot of gay friends and i totally think it should be legal. love is love right?

  • The HP Alliance is amazing.

I live nowhere near Maine, but I'm going to try to catch the live stream, most definitely :D

  • No on 1!

I was so upset when Prop 8 passed here in California... :(

  • I love the sheep. And the cause seems worthy.

  • I am so jealous that you got to talk to Evanna Lynch!

This whole thing sounds so cool!

  • See I would love to make calls but no one would listen to a fifteen year old.

  • Says who? There's no age limit.

  • Really? Cool I might try to help. It all depends if I can find the time.

  • I live in portland, Maine <3333333 I'll be there

  • aah I wish I was in Maine. But maybe I'll do the calling thing. :)

and I am SO JEALOUS of you getting to talk to Evanna Lynch.

  • I am definitely a Hufflepuff...and I am definitely helping out!

  • It's official. I love you. I just liked you before, now I love you. :) I will join you online, since I can not be there.. But my room mate is from Main! :D

  • What podcast does she talk on?

  • your hand sanitizer might be the reason your sick. If you use it too much it is supposedly lowering your immune system. i don't know for sure though.

  • ... same thing is happening in Washington State.

  • Thanks to HPA for bringing this to everyone's attention. I didn't know about it, this can't happen. Why would the US go backwards in another state? Wrock 4 Equality FTW.

I really want to be in the livestream but I have work all day Saturday so I'll try my bestest.

  • People have started calling already... if Saturday doesn't work for you, you can make calls this week!

  • Lauren, why won't they give people that are gay the rights through the civil unions???

You get FIVE stars for CVS hand sanitizer.

  • "i love portland!"

sorry for the wheezy waiter reference...

  • I was in the chat when you guys talked, it was awesome!

  • I LOVE Evanna Lynch. Luna is definitely one of my favorite characters if not the absolute favorite :)

  • I hate the new channel designs. Let's have a communal mope.

Sorry I'm not actually commenting on the video, but at least I read the details section.

  • I want to see Wrockstock, I want to see Wrock 4 Equality concert, I want to see Evanna Lynch. AND I WANT IT NOW !! :D

  • Nooooo! Finally people are coming to where I live and I have to work. Okay, I just checked and I can go to the concert, but I would have to leave soon after for work ^__^

  • is it PotterCast that you talked to Her?

    it didn't download... weird...

anyway, if i could go back to Maine i would, but, sadly, i'm Florida stricken..

    amazing, yay!!!!!!!!!!

  • No, it was the HPA call on Sunday. It was on Pottercast's livestream channel though!

  • ...OH

    okay, oops... i fail...-_-

  • I want to favorite this twice!

  • YOU TALKED TO LUNA LOVEGOOD? That's one of my life's ambitions. *unsubscribes*

  • And that is a fantastic reason to unsubscribe.

  • ,zdlksdgkdg Wrockstock couldn't be sooner. I cant believe it's been since MAY. <333

  • I wish I could go, but I'm going to see the Harry Potter exbit at that Museum of Science... :( I already bought my tickets.

  • Evanna Lynch? awesome!

  • OMG I really hope everything works out in Maine. This is absolutely rediculous that they are even questioning equal rights. Absolutely insane crap. YOU GO GIRL!

  • GO GO LAUREN! I'm Canadian and we've had legal same-sex marriages for a long time now. Even though I'm straight, I appreciate that. I don't understand legislation that takes away choice. Just because gay marriage is legal here doesn't mean that every Canadian citizen has to have one; it's been far less detrimental to families than the concept of divorce (and I don't see anyone fighting to take our right to divorce away), and it's certainly not "turning people gay." Good luck!

  • You remind me so much of Charlotte from Sex & the City.

  • Nyuu!

The Green Hand Sanitizer of Doom is Failing! What is the world coming to!!!

That is an amazing coat design! I want one!

  • Oh wow, that sounds like such an amazing venture!

    I hope you succeed!

  • Prop 8 made sure the will of the people was met. Prop 1 will pass probably.

  • That's nice. Unfortunately, the "will of the people" is stopping many other people from being happy and that's not okay with me.

  • Liberals are fun aren't they?

  • Where'd you get that coat? The thumb holes are very cool!

Go Hufflepuff! I just signed up. That's very cool that Evanna Lynch is head of Ravenclaw.

  • ugh!

    prop h8(hate) was so dumb!

    i can't believe it passed..

    who bans love?!

i hope you have great success with all the awesome public awareness!

  • Lauren, buy vitamin C tablets!

  • Did you know that hand sanitizer also kills the good germs that prevent bacteria from getting to your body?

  • Wrock 4 Equality sounds awesome!!

I'll try to see the live stream :D

    And I love Evanna Lynch!!!!!

  • I was just thinking:

"I wonder who Ravenclaw head is..."

    And you answered.

    And...I just gasped.

While on Cam with a friend.

Friend is now laughing at me for being excited about this. xD

  • let's get it a trending topic on Twitter Lauren? :) It may work! #wrock4equality lets get it going.

  • i FIND this very exciting, sadly i live in Indiana, but I hope everyone else has fun!

  • if you need a time filler for a video or if you just want to...a tour of your walls and of the pictures you got would be pretty cool.

    Online teams ftw!

  • Oh, and I'm mad about the stupid youtube layout too. I think it sucks.

  • Fluffy sheep and marriage equality for the win!! That's so awesome about Wrock 4 Equality...I hadn't heard anything about it, so thank you! Also - you got to talk to Evanna Lynch?!? WOW. I'd give a limb to be able to do that! Ok, maybe not. Good for you, Lauren!

  • Ahh! The awesome things HP fans do is the reason why I'm still involved in this fandom!

  • Lauren, you're so awesome and I'm sooooo excited for the online team of Wrock 4 Equality :D

  • Never been more proud to be a Ravenclaw!! Yay Lauren, I am definitely gonna be part of the online team :DDD

  • whoop whoop! Huff Huff Hufflepuff! :)

  • It's happening in Washington State too, actually. VOTE YES ON REF 71; KEEP DOMESTIC PARTNERSHIPS LEGAL!

  • You know how a while back you made a video about going to class and having to write a song (I think) and someone turning and saying "what are you gonna write about? Harry Potter (insert nasally jerk laugh here)"? Well I finally thought of a comeback "Yeah I am, and I'm gonna put it up on my channel and over 25,000 people are gonna watch it. What are you gonna write about?"

    ..........better late then never?

  • Oh my gosh, I love Evanna Lynch! :) It's awesome that you are a part of such a great cause! Yay!

Random side note: As a fellow FOTC fan, did you know their newest CD came out today? It comes with a poster and I know you like posters! <3

  • You should hang the mocking jay right in the middle and surround it with pictures.

  • I wanna know how people can be granted rights... rights they should have as human beings then be told UP nope can't have that. It is so awesome you are doing this I am way in the south but if I was anywhere near close I would so be there helping out.

  • You can help from anywhere in the world! People are already making phone calls for it. :D

  • the thumb holes are for mittens...

  • I'm a Catholic for human rights. NO to prop 1!

  • I'm the same, TheHumanApple

  • that's such a worthy cause! great job lauren. good luck.

  • Dumbledore, well fight for your right to be gay tonight!

  • Voldemort Can't Stop the... wait it's not Voldemort? Well that should make this a lot easier. Wish I could go but everything happens in the US and I'm in Canada.

  • my dad is working on the campaign against proposition 1! he edited all of those really awesome maine equality commercials! love the cause.

  • You know the proper stance on Proposition 1 isn't as obvious and clean cut as some people think.

  • Yeah, someone on our channel comments is already verbally abusing me for opposing marriage equality when I thought it was pretty clear that I'm all for it, and that's why we're pushing the whole NO on prop 1 thing.

The scripts for this Saturday's event are pretty much to explain to people that they should vote NO if they want to keep marriage equality, and to remind them to vote in the first place.

  • Comment removed

  • I was referring to my vehemence towards the fact that there are probably many who are afraid of voicing their opinions about possibly being for this proposition because of the hatred and maliciousness often displayed by those who are against it.

It just seems like a double standard to me. Of course, I'm not accusing you of doing this specifically.

  • They don't have to voice any opinions. Nobody needs to know what they voted. Again, we're encouraging them to do it anyway, and maybe that will help.

  • Wrock on! Evanna is amazing, I wish I could help out because this sounds so cool!

  • ive been getting tweets and emails for wrock4 equality for ages now, and im soooo sad i cant be involved (ill be at a swim meet) but i wish everyone the best of luck/fun time

    :D

  • You can call earlier than Saturday if you won't be around that day... points are already being counted! :D

  • Hufflepuff represent!

OMG! You got to talk to Evanna Lynch! That's so cool =)

  • This is barely relevant, but I'm thinking that someone who knows will see this and answer me...

Who's playing guitar for The Parselmouths at wrockstock?

  • The Parselmouths aren't playing at Wrockstock, unfortunately. :(

  • I love the HP fandom so much. Being in California, I can't get to Maine, but I will definitely help in any way I can.

  • D: I would but I have State [The final Marching band competition of the season] on saturday and i leave at 5 am and lasts til 2am xD

  • I've just been told that all calls this week will count... if you're busy Saturday, you can totally sign up and start making calls early! :D

  • :O Evanna is our Head of House?! *dies a happy, happy death*

You're so cute. I'm very excited for this!

  • Oh, HELL YEAH, Evanna Lynch is the head of Ravenclaw! REPRESENT.

  • YEAH

  • I wish Maryland and Maine were closer together.

I am very excited that as a Ravenclaw, Evanna Lynch is my HOH. My brother's birthday is this weekend, so I doubt I'll have time to participate fully, but maybe I'll get the chance to pop in & do something...

  • You can start making calls now... the points are being counted and lots of people have already started!

  • for some reason Youtube has it in for me today and the sound is loading faster than the video :( poop

  • yes. wrockstock. its gonna be AMAZING!

  • Yay! and btw Lauren, I got my buttons in the mail today, thanks a lot! (This is Carrie Boyser) ^__^

  • Aw, you're welcome! Thank YOU! :D

  • I have a sheep just like that! xD

  • Lauren you are so cute. Ravenclaw wrocks!

  • Yey! Good luck. Competition is fun, but Slytherin'll win because we're the awesomest!!! (Kidding, seriously though Good luck to all the houses) I can't wait for Saturday. The phone thing is pretty cool. I put in some time this morning, and everyone was at least polite, which was better than I expected. (I was pretty nervous) Anyhow, good luck!

  • I WANNA BE WITH YOU.

You should put up Lauren/Kayley pictures. Everywhere. Just saying.

  • I miss youuu. If I can find higher-than-facebook quality pictures of us together, they will be up there.

  • If you never change you will be the most desirable woman when you hit your late 20's early 30's. Not that you aren't the most desirable now, however this state will be exponentially developed as you age. Also, I am stoked that Luna is my head of house.

  • u shouldnt really use hand sanitizer too much... it makes ur immune system weaker

  • HUFFLEPUFF!!! Yay!

  • YAY FOR THUMBHOLES!

  • HAND SANITIZER MAKES SUPER GERMS!

    just saying

  • kills the good bacteria!

  • exactly!

  • I<3u

  • On Saturday I will be at a Whomping Willows, Remus Lupins, and JFF concert. YAY for wizard rock!

  • Yeah, but we can do it in the morning, right?

  • true dat

  • It's fo sho

  • eep I cant wait for the concert I am soo excited.

I also cant wait to watch this

  • Usually I'm up for doing anything you help out with, but I just don't believe in equality in marriage. I think it's wrong...

But I am glad that you are putting yourself behind something you believe in.

  • Hey, no need to jump all over PolkadottedCam. At least she was being nice and polite about not believing in my right to marry someone I love someday.

  • Yeah, of all the comments for you to see and comment on, that was a more embarassing one, I am however getting really fed up with people who are more than glad to deprive people of basic human rights merely because they don't "believe" in it... Beliefs should be reserved for friends and family, not ruling other peoples freedoms.

  • I see all of the comments people leave me!

I agree though. It's sad thinking about how I might not be able to marry someone I love someday because of people who don't "believe" in it.

  • I wasn't aware you had an interest in women. Yes, I think it kind of hurts human rights when we limit ourselves to those that affect us personally, hence why I am a straight male who takes interest in homosexual rights and consider myself a feminist, it lends credence and solidarity.

  • Calling people idiots and telling people to stop breathing doesn't necessarily help either. All you need is love! :D

  • Point taken, I quit smoking today, I am a little grouchy. It got your attention though and we have had this wonderful little chat, so maybe you see the creation that can arise from destruction? Besides, this is the interwebs, when we say "stop breathing" we are saying nothing more harmful than "whatever buddy!" at least thats how I have always seen it.

  • Congrats! Good luck with the not smoking. :)

I just don't think we need to be the people destructing anything, is all. If anything, other people are destructing our potential happiness because of their "beliefs". I'm not saying we should be doing them any favors or anything, just that this particular example was rather nice and polite about presenting her views. We're probably not going to change them by insulting her, is all.

  • P.S. I admire you and it was in fact an honour to even speak with you, it really however is a pity that a rare flash of my occasional piss-poor behaviour was the catalyst to that. Really, imagine a person you admire most and imagine meeting them at the mall and the first thing they do is point out your fly is down... BOOOOOO! I agree with you on all the comments above, you are right, but alas there are times when out of frustration even the obviously articulate resort to WTFPWN measures...

  • Hahaha aw. Don't worry, I don't really judge people on things like that. Nobody's in a good mood all the time. I enjoyed talking to you. :)

  • Aw, yer rilly sweet, I knew there was a reason I adore you. <3

Sorry about bein a jerk in video comments :(

This really isn't the place for it, but that kind of attitude really ticks me off... Not believing that people should have equal rights? Where do these people get off? Enough about that though, DFTBA as usual I know you of all people won't.

  • Oh, don't worry, it confuses me too. The idea that some people don't believe in equal rights is just beyond my scope of understanding at this point. I'm not saying that people have to be pro-same sex marriage, just be pro-humanity.

  • Agreed, it's called secular humanism, and I personally like to think that I live by these tenants (despite the occasional negative outburst).

  • Radical, beliefs are ALL that define law. We as a society choose to believe something is or is not acceptable and those who disagree with us, be they in the minority, must abide by those laws. That is the foundation of any civilization from now back unto Ancient Mesopotamia and Hammurabi "receiving" his code of laws.

If we did not allow beliefs to rule other people we would have no rule of law. That you disagree with what is or is not acceptable is fine, but he law is defined by belief.

  • Maybe you saw my name? Maybe you see the difference between these two following statements: 1. We as a people think that it isn't right for you to kill puppies in your backyard.

    2. We as a select minority think that it isn't right for you to experience the bliss of matrimony because we don't think it's right.

I hope you see the subtle differences there.

There is a point where belief crosses over into something greater and that is when it becomes law, it is not inherently so...

  • Firstly, these laws do not pass because a "minority" votes for them.

Secondly, and more importantly, your analogy is flawed. A more appropriate situation would be that we as a society do not allow a 17 year old and an 18 year old to have consensual sex. They feel it is unfair and they are infringed upon, but the law is the law and a line was drawn that cannot be crossed.

If you wish to oppose the law, that's fine, but then your "beliefs" are overriding the beliefs of others, aren't they?

  • Oh, I wasn't disagreeing with you per se, however there are more than 2 options in selecting your stance on a particular law, people feel that particularly in the case of same sex marriage that they are either "for" or "against" it, however there is a third and vastly more important option that should be observed. One may not "believe" that it is right, yet must recognize it as harmless to them and a happiness to many, many others, would it not be pertinent to then elect to NOT HAVE AN OPINION?

  • Ah, but if a person believes it is wrong, do they not have a right, if not an obligation, to act on those beliefs?

Those you disagree with are as much a member of this society as you or I (and yes, I know you're Canadian, but you know what I mean) and to them it does hurt them as it is the government choosing to recognize as legitimate something they believe is wrong.

I'm not, you'll note, giving my position on the issue. I'm merely trying to help you see that both views have legitimacy.

  • I'm not trying to troll, nor am I giving my (or assuming your) position on the issue. However, regardless of whether or not people in a society think it is wrong, they do not have the right to impose their beliefs on others. Allowing marriage equality will in no way affect them or the way they live. They do not need to agree with it. Nothing is being forced on them. If, however, they try to stop gay marriage, they are forcing their beliefs on others.

  • And allowing gay marriage is forcing 'your" beliefs on them. They are members of our society, as well, and for us to recognize gay marriage as legitimate means that their society has rejected their beliefs. To them, that is very personal.

After all, how do you feel when society rejects your beliefs as wrong? They have as much right to their beliefs as you do yours, and regardless of how this falls, either you or they will have their beliefs trampled on by the other's.

  • You are saying that making gay marriage legal s unfairly forcing one set of values onto another group. If this proposition passes, then the same thing will happen in the opposite direction, invalidating your argument. For the sake of argument, I assume that you are correct in asserting that allowing gay marriage is unfairly forcing values on a group, then the inverse still has more limitations to freedom. Also, the law is for the government to recognize gay marriage, not for anyone else.

  • There is never legitimacy to limiting peoples rights without at least being objective. We are talking about consenting adults. There is absolutely no excuse for outsiders to limit the rights of two consenting adults to be married. This is a situation where people need to grow up. Stay out of one anothers business and move on, we only move as quickly as our slowest members even as a society.

  • There is legitimacy to their views, as they stem from a moral compass, just as yours do. What makes yours more legitimate? You can provide no tangible evidence.

As I said, everyone, including the people you disagree with, are members of this society. They have as much of a stake in this society as you do, and therefore they are wholly entitled to their views. They are also entitled to enact laws based on those views. If others agree with them, those laws are enacted.

    Those are THEIR rights.

  • I would whole-heartedly agree with you if in fact there was any basis for a wrongdoing of any kind at all whatsoever, we are talking about two adults in love with the desire to be married. Where does one find any wrong with that? Seriously, give me one logical argument against two adults being married. I will point out also that religion and civil law are mutually exclusive, so a religious standpoint is invalid.

  • umm equality isnt a belief its a right just because you think that your religion is correct that means you can take away the rights and freedoms of another human why dont you just shove your close minded ideas up your ass oh yeah and if you think being gay is a choice try to be gay for a day i bet you cant

  • That isn't a valid comparison. Of course people who are homosexual feel the pull toward the opposite sex. But sometimes when my friends go out partying and drinking beer, I want to go. But I don't, because that's illegal (I'm underage). It's kind of the same thing, if you're a Christian. One might be kind of interested in the same sex but recognizes that it's a temptation and calls on God to help. I really didn't mean to start this up, though, so I'll just be quiet now.

  • Your choice of religion is something that you may very well grow out of, as you said you are underage. But people will live their entire lives as outcasts and criminals because you and people who think like you condemned their love, if they could chose who they love it might not be so bad. Think first as a human being, then think as a member of a religion second. You will always be human, but you may not always be christian, make sense?

  • I'm sorry, Lauren. I honestly didn't mean to start anything up- I didn't realize anyone would reply to my comment. I won't be offended if you delete my comments!

    -Camille

  • Why would I delete your comments? Thank you for being nice. I just think the world would be a better place if everyone had equal rights, and I think it's sad that there are people who don't think so, who are keeping that from happening. Marriage would make so many people incredibly happy, but that right either doesn't exist for them or it's being taken away.

At the end of the day, we're all sinners. I'd just like for us to be happily married sinners who never did anything but love others. :)

  • I believe that God instructed a man to love a woman and vice versa. That does not mean that I think I'm better than anyone else- I don't. I simply think homosexuality is a sin. I sin every day! One of my best friends is gay, and I don't judgfe him for it. Because I sin too. If you don't believe the same thing, it's absolutely fine. But please don't tell me I'm idiot because of my beliefs.

  • I agree.

I am a Christian, and I believe that Homosexuality is wrong, and I don't agree with it, but I love the people and I don't judge them.

Like, I live the gay people, but I don't love what they do.

  • I'm sure youtube comments isn't the best spot for a question like this but (coming from an open-minded agnostic,) how can you love somebody but believe that their existence is a sin? Maybe you could give me your thoughts on this? Not trying to be hurtful or anything, just...curious.

  • sure I'll try my best. Has your best friend ever done something to hurt you? But you still love them because they are your friend and you still care about them? It's like the same thing. I love these people because they are humans and deserve my love. But I do not love the ACTION (that's important! temptation is not a sin, the ACTION of homosexuality is) that they decided to do. Does that help at all?

  • Laure, you are just wonderful. I want to be you. Kristina will tell you I said that a lot when she was here.

I wish I could party at wrockstock with you all, but I hope yuo ahve a wonderful time. You look beautiful by the way, as do your walls.

  • Oh wow, Evanna Lynch is part of it? SWEET. Wrock 4 Equality sounds like a great idea. Huzzah!

  • I wish I could go!!!!!
