A baby cries at the slightest discomfort as it is the only way it knows how to communicate. A baby not crying, when it is being cut with a scalpel and no anaesthetic, indicates that the baby is feeling pain so intense that it has gone into shock. That's why some babies are mute or don't cry much at their bris. It's very sad.

as far as suppressing stimulation, it was mainly so people way back when wouldn't have to touch their penis when they pee.
and also, foreskin provides a kind of sheild against HIV and herpes, among the less pleasant STD's. i wouldn't trade that for prevention of an infection that cranberry juice and a week of antibiotics could clear right up.
but that's just me.
plus, i hear we have more pleasure. you know, being intact and all that.

@Wiitiko All i can say is, soap and water can go a long way to. I've never had any infections of urinary system. No one is against any man deciding to cut his foreskin off if he wants to. The point is people are making choices for people out of religious beliefs that have life long effects of which they may not agree with when they grow up.
