There is no possible way it would have been a touchback. He cought the ball 3 yards or so in front of the n zone and went backwards from momentum into his end zone. If he was tackled, it would have been put at the 3 yard line or whatever. He stepped OUT OF BOUNDS, therefor a safety.

Right, I don't understand what happened there @ 3:30 - the defender intercepted in his own end zone and held the ball, that's a touchback, right? He didn't try to return it. So how come a Safety score was awarded..?? Was there a defensive foul or something that we didn't see in the vid?

He went out of bounds after entering his n-zone. No matter what that's a safety unless there's a penalty.
