I just don't believe Rosebaums story about how the blue danube came to be used. He clearly has an agenda but Kubricks wife says elsewhere he specifically wanted to use a waltz for this sequence and listened to many in order to choose the right one. The idea its just playing by accident and all his assistants mention how great it works is just the opposite of how Kubrick is said to work.
Is the woman in black at the start of this the same woman who can be seen next to Nicholson at the end of the shining?
