He valued his reputation and legacy over the welfare of poor children. He made his choices and he reaped what he sowed in the last few months of his life. I won't rejoice in his death, say he deserved death from a terrible disease, but i do take solace in knowing he got to see it all crumble before him before he went. Now let's just hope the justice system does the same to Jerry Sandusky.

He feigned ignorance, he feigned being an old man in caught in a situation he didn't understand. All the while running a program with an iron fist, knowing every single detail. Men like Paterno know everything that goes on in their program. You don't stay as head coach for that long without doing so. This is a man that at 80 stared down the board of a university and forced them to back down from firing him. He was no confused old man caught in a situation he didn't understand.

I don't rejoice in his demise. But I also won't ignore all the damage he did. This is a man that did a lot of good, but lost perspective of what good is at some point. Pride led to his downfall, pride in his achievements. A pride that led him to make some terrible choices that in hindsight led to tarnishing his legacy forever.
