You catch cold from other people who already are suffering cold, its caused due to rhino virus which is transferred from a diseased person to a healthy person through coughing, sneezing etc.

@daredevil0906 also consider that a person who harbors the rhinovirus can be contagious for 2-5 days during incubation, before they even start to show symptoms. You may be spreading disease without even knowing it.

That means you would have to avoid the CIVILIZED people too. :P

My science teacher last year said that is because the flu virus changes shape so there is no way to "cover" it. That is the way she explained it.. She said that other sickness/disease or whatever stay in one shape so the cure is able to take it over.
