Can't tell by this movie, but if this wall has a curve in it (even a slight one) you wouldn't use a line and you'd plum every block just as this guy is doing! And there is a curve on the 8" wall on the end. My problem is with the guy in the white shirt not telling the labor to give him some blocks were he needs them, instead he just walks them 10' down the wall.
Yup. That sure is a long stretch of wall to be using levels instead of a line. wonder what they're building out there in the desert? ... The ping of that trowel sounds like it's made of cheap Home Depot steel.
@bonanzatime betcha $100 when you eyeball down that wall,its a rollercoaster. Ive got nothing against a cheap trowel ,but I'd wanna get some block laid with it . I miss it .Ive been disabled with a ruptured disc in my back for 6 years .
I'm sorry to hear about your back. 'ruptured disc' sounds alot worse than a sprain. As far as 'cheap trowels' are concerned, I hate em. Those Home Depot Marshaltowns melt away like butter in the mortar. I'll never buy another one.
@bonanzatime All I can tell you is take care of your back .....don't pick those 12s up with one hand only and stay bent over if your back is hurting ,,,,,take a few seconds and sit down ...just a few seconds will take the pressure off . See now I have so bad of problems ,I have to catheterize when I pee and wear depends ..all from my back injury ... Oh yeah ...hence the name " MIKEYSBACK LOL
@bonanzatime really you dont like Marshaltowns there pretty expensive here in Australia and one of the better trowels around i use one, what do you use in the states?
Marshaltown does make good trowels, and they're expensive. They also make bad trowels with inferior steel and sell them cheap at the big box, so-called 'home center' stores in the USA. They're probably good for sitting on a shelf in the garage but not for masonry, at least not for long, they wear away fast.
Pay the extra money for a GOOD Marshaltown; or Rose. 'Rose' makes some damn good trowels.
