I apologize for my poor english, and my comment. If you forgive me, even the english language is a germainic language, the germam is a derivative of latin language. So, you will find many words derivate from latin in the english language. I speak portuguese-br so latin is very easy to understand, albeit english is easiest to lear after learned latin. Conclusion: latin is a bridge to reach other languages that came from the old world.

There are advantages because of the use of latin in scientific terminology. As well as the many english words which have a latin base. These things become more easy to understand as a result.

Latin is not a truely living language but due to its kinship to the romance languages it is said to make learning these other languages easier.

Having learned (a very little) Irish, which is of no use to me, I can say that it can be fun to learn a thing which yeilds no material gain.
