  • Jack was a great guy. I sure hope Craig Scott can fill his role

  • CUPW IS SHIT....They are fascists if you don't agree with them.

  • In his later years Jack became everything that Rick wanted him to be...

  • Rick Mercer is an ego maniac

  • If Jack helped you off the horse, would you help Jack off the horse?

  • Jack would never have gotten elected PM.Once Canadians got a good look at this communist they would have turned away in droves.Outside of Quebec they showed very little improvement and those flaky Quebecers are a joke. They will vote for any nut case that shows up.The NDP will be reduced big time in the next election, its a shame Saint Jack won't be there to be the fall guy.

  • @russfromdodge you are an imbecile. You have no idea what communism means. FYI communism=capitalism. Under both systems you have a small group of people who end up controlling the whole country for their own financial and economic benefit. North Korea, Cuba, Libya, Egypt, Albania, Romania, Congo are or were at some point controlled by one very powerful& rich individual living a privileged life while the rest of the country suffered. Put it this way; Kevin O'Leary would thrive in communism.

  • @terentesangre LMFAO,you don't know Jack.......He preached bike lanes and took a limo everywhere. He and his wife ,both highly paid elected officials their entire adult lives yet they lived in subsidized housing.Jack and Olivia were #1 and #2 for MP expense spending in the year before he died (well over $1million).He was a typical champagne socialist,no amount of taxpayer cash was too much when it came to his life,he spoke of his love for the ''common people'' but held us in utter contempt.

  • @russfromdodge Dude, the point was not Jack. You may dislike or worship him. I don't care! Yes he was a socialist, but not a communist! Communism, (at least in the way it was applied so far in history) is a vile, totalitarian, self serving ideology with one and only one goal in mind; to protect and enhance the social status of whomever is at the top. Socialism on the other hand is what we have in Canada or in Sweden. socialism is a humanistically derived form of government that benefits us all.

  • @terentesangre That is not communism... it's warped ideology that makes it seem that way... Pure Communism will never be possible because it is not compatible with human nature.... and if you think Canada follows socialism today, you must be living in a time machine. Our current government is leading us as far from socialism as possible.

  • @markuskeats Yes, I agree with you

; Canada is heading in the wrong direction. But in the end it is all a matter of perspective: When compared to Denmark, Canada may remind us of Argentina of the 80s. however, when we measure ourselves against our southern neighbour it would be safe to say that our policies are quite socialistic.

  • @terentesangre Well, will you ever see a Canadian wrapped in a flag, holding a cross, crying and singing O Canada? We're not nationalisticly delusional enough to become as traditional as the United States, and thank god for that. The US has been tilting farther to the right since after WWII, started sliding with the sudden Christian influences on the Republicans in the 1980s, and came flying into a building after 9/11. The Democrats in the US are farther right than our Tories.

  • @terentesangre This being said, If you were an avid voter of the Reform Party in the 90's, and you agreed with Manning's views like "homosexuality is destructive to the individual, and in the long run, society" or that "I oppose any immigration based on race or creed or designed to radically or suddenly alter the ethnic makeup of Canada". So If you don't like Socialist policies, like Universal Health Care, Free Public Education, Gay Marriage, etc, then Move to the United States.

  • @TheRimDoctor Dude, You either must be profoundly stupid or you lack the ability to comprehend written language. Where did you get the idea that I'm a conservative? my personal philosophy is as far removed from the right as it can go without falling into extremism. You are fa fucking moron, I have a feeling that you must be one of those guys high on poppies who ODs during the occupy movement.. Because of guys like you our credibility is eroded...

  • @terentesangre I only read your response, and a little further back with you calling Jack a Communist. That being said, re-reading the poor punctuation says that the other guy was calling Jack a Communist. Either way, I'm in Newfoundland battling a large windstorm atm. DOnt fgive a fuck anymore

  • Irony: Jack Layton, a very rare, competent politician, finally becomes Canada's hero, and finally gains enough strength for his party to start making real change. Then, he dies.

Rest in peace Jack. We all miss you.

  • The only thing that ever kept the NDP down is the Conservative Party's ability to convince Canadians to *feel* better about our society's shortcomings and simply accept them... Delusion is more fiscally prudent than actual problem solving!

If candidates were only allowed to talk about their own position's merits, and they weren't allowed to discuss the downfalls of those of their opponents, the Conservative Party of Canada would be the ONLY party with nothing to say.

  • Johnny Doe says Jack Layton was in many ways to Canada what Ron Paul is to America.......men elected by the people working tirelessly FOR the people. RIP JL

  • @johnnydoesworld PLease don't insult Jack by mentioning Ron Paul in the same sentence. Ron Paul is clueless, doesn't believe in Global Warming and is with the Tea Party, possibly why he was elected in Texas. Also the opposite of Jack Layton.

  • CHRC File Number: 2010 0504. Canada is SHIT. Stephen Harper is SHIT. Mark Carney is SHIT. CUPW is SHIT. CANADA POST IS SHIT. Peace.

  • I'm proud to say I voted for Jack

  • Jack was the best prime minister we never had.

  • please watch my video tribute to Jack Layton..RIP we'll always remember you :)

  • Jack was anything but dull.

  • interesting how things changed in a few years, from people having no idea who jack layton was, to a whole country mourning his loss. goes to show how much he redefined the NDP into something respectable enough to be the official opposition, and Canadian poitics in general into something worth paying attention to.

  • rest in peace jack, as a person - i respect you, in terms of politics. we were obviously different.

  • I dont really like the NDP but R.I.P.

  • Apparently you were dead wrong Rick.Canadians want a class act who answers questions directly (except when YOU are trying to frame him saying/doing something ridiculous on YOUR comedy show).Jack's popularity was based on him avoiding the negative distractions of politics and actually voting on bills and proposing new ones.Being an a**hole or a whiner does not get results.Long live nice guys.

  • @donomanx1: I completely agree. God Bless.

  • @donomanx1 Rick's rant doesn't reflect his own opinions always and are meant to be taken lightly. Watch the episode where Rick tours Jack's house, they get along famously!

  • @donomanx1 We have to remember that Layton was a politician. Sure he was a nice guy in general, but he still lied, made rash promises, and threw dirt like the rest. He is a kind man who will be missed but he is not Saint Jack. Remember him yelling things like "Where is it? Under your sweater?" Not the noble man above all cheap, immature political games after all.

  • @MrRedtubelover He was a lot more honest than the rest of the the "leaders" put together.

  • @BoredomCorner He had a unique kind of honesty. They made stupid, wild promises that sound good to the public but would be impossible to carry out (or bad for the country if they did). Difference is, if elected Layton would have tried to do every one of those things he promised, even though he knew that many were poor policy.

  • now there is only before May 2nd and after May 2nd.

  • Comment removed

  • Rest in Peace, Jack.

  • 1 Year Later...

  • Bahaha the Irony of this!

  • @Corbiel I know man!!! Do you think Rick sees this and thinks "Holy SHIT!!"

  • Comon vote NDP this election! Let's see what they're made of!

  • Jack for PM

  • @YumeWire Vote For The Internet. Right Now Its With The NDP. Lets Give Him One Chance & See How He Does.

  • jack layton is the bubba gump of canadian politics and mikel igantief is Forest.

  • @viper10011 You should probably have some sort of spelling and grammar standard when insulting the intelligence of others.

  • It is so true. Jack is almost too nice.

  • @iamguitarhero It is hard to believe someone is, "almost too nice" when he and Olivia are sitting in publicly subsidized housing while homeless are dying on the streets of Toronto.

Maybe this is just my opinion!

  • @mikefastener

maybe? you mean you aren't sure if that's your opinion ? rofl

  • @dartanya2 Actually no, I am saying that perhaps I am the only one that holds this opinion.

(There are so many weirdo left-wingers on this site, I may be the only normal person.)

    Clear now?

  • @mikefastener Well, our poverty rate does keep rising as Harper continues to slash those corporate taxes!!

  • @NotjustGrey Actually our poverty rate went through the roof under the lie-beral government.

So glad that corporate taxes are reduced! Are you saying that lie-beral Dalton McLier (who is reducing corporate taxes) is wrong?

Love painting left-wingers into a corner!

  • @mikefastener I think that we need a competitive corporate tax rate, not the lowest. Our low taxes are not the only thing that attract business to our country. Free health care, for example, is a huge one. I'd think that lowering corporate taxes was fine if it actually correlated to an increased # of jobs, but it has not been shown to do so. If these cuts were applied to small and medium sized business, it would help, but giant corps are just banking all of their savings!

  • @NotjustGrey I do agree with you! I would prefer a more graduated corporate tax rate (while it already exists, it is not aggressive enough). Small and medium sized businesses should get a better break that giant corporations.
