Eh up bud as you know iv tried a laser and i prefer a gud lamp, i find there no good for scanning fields and the rabbits were more spooked than using my ledray, they might be better for close quarter rat shooting....TnF
you see lads that why i watch all your vids unbyast streight talking no crap honest opinon we need more lads like yourselfs well done on a another grate review
Hey Malc, I have the ND30 lamp which is a cheaper chinese copy of the ND3 and the pressure switch has broken. Do you know where i can buy a new pressure switch (the ND3 one will fit)
I have been using the smaller ND3 and have had this for 3 months taking several Foxes and rabbits from around 60yrds to 140 yrds, as you say it does the job for the price.
I totaly agree about the mount system it seems to move from side to side and the locking bolt becomes lose, I also added extra black tape to the unit to hold it solid in the mount. Great Vid's Gents keep up the good work. Happy hunting from a Fellow shooter.
@CountryPursuitsTV i have an ns 50 its brilliant when you know the areas your shooting in because its very difficult to judge distances but other wise very very good
@kylethequadman know exactly what you mean about range finding at night it is very difficult. I have the NS50 and 200 I cant wait to get out there with them =)
great review malc...and true..craig has one of these, and the mounts are bloody terrible..swayed me not to buy one, which is a shame,as its got a good range and qaulity laser...top notch.
Holy Crap - when Tharek "demonstrated" the shortcomings of the mounting system at 8:28, my mind was made up on this thing. As long as Laser Genetics keeps putting budget tires on a Rolls Royce, there is no way they will get my green-backs. I have been on the fence re: the ND5 SZ for many months.....I am now off that fence. Thanks guys! I really appreciate the "point - counterpoint" feel to your presentation. Looking forward to more. ted.
@EdgunUSA Hi Ted, budget tires on a Rolls Royce LOL Brilliant! I love that! why did I not think of that line.... Tharek what am I bloody paying you for? Oh yeah I don't pay you do I... LOL I think you have put it in a nutshell it's all about the mount. The laser is very very cool and looks amazing through the scope but if it is pointing in the wrong direction what good is that? I have heard that they have revised the mount though I guess we'll have to see.
Nice video lads and as always I like the balanced opinions for good and bad points. Something else for me to consider adding to my list...lol Keep them coming!
Good review guys, and I look foward to the next. you both look perished, now that is what I call dedication, hope it will be warmer for you next time around.
@MultiLongacre Perished LOL! We were cold and bloody knackered alright it was a long couple of weeks getting this to work on camera. So pleased it's over though as I am looking forward to using my new NiteSite and Pulsar N550 in a head to head video coming soon...
@Plainy97 Hi Olly it was £350 when I bought it of E B A Y I think they have come down in price now just make sure you get the SubZero version if you are getting one.
I tested my nd3 sub zero with the rats and they wouldnt stick around! Shooting max 25 yards. I prefered the button on the back over the pressure switch. I sold mine, had a hard time shifting it. Think there to much for what they are! And dont even come close to nightvision! But still crisp clear like you said. Good vid thumbed plink
@PLINKINATOR I thought you did OK with yours Plink? If you think you had trouble using yours imagine what it was like using the 50mm version with the beam quite tight to get the video shot? We were nearly setting the rats on fire with it LOL
Nicely done Malc as i have never managed to get footage of lamping rats or rabbits with my wee JVC camcorder, its not very easy to get camcorder, lamp and rifle scope all focused on the one spot at the same time and still get a good shot off.
@HuntersVermin You need the NiteSite NS50 or NS200 David it will let you do it easily. Let me know if you would like to borrow my setup and I will send it over to you for a week or two.
Hi Malc you gone have to start sent me the videos youtube never did it :( but know i saw it and i have to say you guys make a great team congrats, great video and subject to:)
I think it may be the first ratty vid as you say. I been looking on google often and what I have seen elsewhereof hog shooting looks fake to be honest.
As a posh lamp setup this looks very much up to the job however, personally, I think I will save up for nv as the rabbits on my shoot are lamp shy.
@mrploppy73 Thank you Ploppy I think your right the other stuff I have seen looks like it has been engineered. If you have lamp shy rabbits the night vision reviews we have coming up next should be of interest to you.
i have a cheaper chinese version of the green laser and i concur that in order to film you have to pull the beam really tight and it doesnt show anything near the great quality of the laser i also noticed the rats were aware of the tight beam but not the wide beam, having said that i prefer my nitesite all the way and look forward to the review from you guys..
@VerminHuntersTV Thank you Si I think the are lots of people waiting for the Nitesite review. We used it last night for an hour and I like what I see. Would love to come and join you at your rat permission with it so you could give me your views on it?
@CountryPursuitsTV I think most of the shooting world would like to visit Si's rat permission mate, so get in the bloody queue !. lol. Another top film mate, ad it looks like a new double act has been born !. lmao.
@jacquesone100 Thank you Jacques. I am using my new video lights in this video and I am using the Magic Lantern hacked 550D with a Rode video mic and the18-55mm at f/4.0 The shots through the scope were filmed with the Canon too ;)
nice vid to you both, i have noticed myself that once you close the beam in tight the Rats did take more notice of it, also using the unit on Rabbits id say 80% of the Rabbits didnt take no notice of the strange green beam. all in all they have there place in the shooting world. nice one malc, ATB john
@bigjohntightlips Thank you for the comment and input John. We experienced much the same as you have. When shooting where there are lamp shy rabbits this did give the edge but would still unnerve them. When shooting rabbits that had not been under lots of pressure from lamps they seemed unaware of its presence. Superb bit of kit, bloody awful mounting system! I have looked at your FAC PM just not had time to reply due to video schedule ETC.
