@DTommy12345 Go the classics albums like Space oddity, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And the Spiders From Mars, Aladdin Sane (all cover tunes), Diamond Dogs (one of his most underrated albums) and of course the Berlin Trilogy(look it up if your not familiar with this) PEACE AND HAPPY LISTENING
Space Oddity was the first song I ever learnt on guitar and It was by ear and took me 2 days to learn. It was him who got me fascinated in the music industry, he's the reason I became a musician. Along with Billy Joel and Pink Floyd. One of my life dreams are to meet david and the others. ^_^
Find the bass tone and playing quite annoying... but then again I was brought on ZS&tSFM, it's like a story in which it won't be the same with a single word changed.
I like this version better than the original. Garson can be heard on piano in the background - not with Bowie until Aladdin Sane and Gail is the best bassist he has ever had. Drums are the best he has had also - OK Woody Woodmansey was pretty good....but, this drummer is outstanding.
@MrMAHBOI1 You are right. That band was very good - anyone on the Spiders were very good. I personally like the line-up on Station to Station or this line-up. A bit of the old (Garson, Slick) and a bit of the new. They do justice to the Spiders on this one.
@wpollock1 yeah, i'd have to say the worst backing band he had ever was on the Glass Spider Tour, no offense to him, but he butchered a lot of those songs on that tour.
Simply great! They should be singing this in every church every Sunday ... "There's a starman waiting in the sky He'd like to come and meet us But he thinks he'd blow our minds There's a starman waiting in the sky He's told us not to blow it Cause he knows it's all worthwhile He told me: Let the children lose it Let the children use it Let all the children boogie" Thank you Bowie!!!! We hear your message loud & clear here in Brasilia!
People/parents teach your children well. Let them know the true artist of their favorite music. My son was smart enough to love and learn Bowie on his own.
David is really a private person. Due to his past he chooses privacy. He had friendship with John Lennon of the Beatles at time of John's death. Exposure of these artist made them vulnerable . Mr Bowie moved out of of crimes way. He was not a saint, but has resurrected himself to be the artist he is today/ Senior fans know this 2b true
Sometimes I wish I'd never heard Bowie so I could hear it all for the first time again. A fan since 1973 and more so each following years. I've been lucky enough to see him live 3 times, Once on this tour....
@JVRWi I SECOND THAT! To me this particular song really suffer without that distinctive, muscular tone that Ronno had. You heard his guitar and you KNEW it was Mick. "Man Who Sold the World" is another song that isn't the same without Mick; really any from that period without Mick are missing something. Ronno left a huge impression, God bless him.
@15275657 Every once in awhile, when David is playing the song, you can still see Ziggy, in tiny glimpses! You have probably noticed this , though. Your comments on Bowie are intelligent. Btw, in my opinion, The Spiders took glam to it's pinnacle!
NOOOOOO! i missed his birthday thanks to concentrating on college work, ah well bought his reality tour the other day so was listening to it Saturday :) happy birthday LEGEND!
no where near it yet; no where. And they are one of the world's best at the moment; which reflects that the golden era of contemporary music has passed. Maybe Coldplay are ahead of muse even. But to put Muse in the same category as Bowie doesn't resonate with me; but you may be right; in the end muse may become that but i strongly doubt it because there has to be a window open in the sky and the window is closed now.
I once said he's the coolest man ever, minus the bisexuality and cross-dressing. I've aged to the point where I can even reconsider those moot points.
@lucs6060 I hear ya; he is the greatest something; probably not songwriter as i would put lennon in that position. But his performances is other-wordly. When Bowie, Waters, McCartney, Gilmour, Plant, Page, Bono, jagger, Knofler etc. go the magic will go too and music will decline and something else will became an expression of interest or we will keep listening to past music; because our poor kids get X factor; "people out there are turning music into gold."
@danelandorbust You werent ready for the message. Bowie has a way of transforming the unaware into something else. After having had a close encounter I can see where he comes from. The Creator sends information through many channels, David is one.

But be glad you did. Some people go their whole lives without ever discovering his incredible music.
WishesLost 1 year ago
@danelandorbust Doesn't matter. The important is that you found him. For me it took 35 years to finally
admit there is no greater musician in history than Bowie. In fact to tell you some truth: he is not human.
So he may be gay, bisexual, ... This of no importance. David is like a witch, sorcerer,...
I know him since 1975 and to be honest: I never listened more to his songs than in 2010...
