As a former Marine I can say the corps has never respected there 'special ops guys" now they finally enter socom and have the stupid name of marsoc very gerneric name. They should have come up with a name that instently tells the one hearing oh they are marine special ops. When you here marsoc marine you think ok what do they do peel potatios? @liltanman16 hey man, not all jobs are combat but remember every Marine is a rifleman first. If you go up to a Marine recruiter ask him about the DEP (Delayed Entry Program). They will work with you and you will for sure drop the weight if you follow what they tell ya.

If you want to do the same work really just with lousier tech (not much), go Force Recon not Div.That's my opinion. 1. Helmet cover...Every pic ive seen of MFR / MEU / MARSOC, they dont wear helmet covers

2. If im looking at it correctly, the helmet looks like a PASGT. MFR / MEU / MARSOC uses the MICH 2000.

@darksamuari You have to go to SOI to try out for Recon. There's Recon Div and Force Recon. Don't know how you choose between them.

MARSOC requires you to have two years of service and be at least an E4. You can have any MOS, but I'm sure Infantry wouldn't hurt.

Be aware that it's tough for some to stay motivated as 0311s. It's rough on E3 and below, and physically demanding for all.

You can do anything you set your mind to. Take it step by step, push yourself hard, and stay moto. Semper Fi

you gotta get into recon 0321 first and put in the work. you have to be in recon for at least a year before you can go out for MARSOC. infantry is the best path. infantry is the Marine Corps, everyone else is grunt support.

MARSOC does not belong to the marine corps, although they are marines, for their little 5 year stint in MARSOC they are directly under USSOCOM. and yes, there still is a force recon, the are just under tier 3. the rangers and marsoc are tier 2, and delta force and seal team 6 are in tier 1. and they are all part of USSOCOM and frequently run joint ops together. so if you idiots read this again.... now you know.

Force Recon used to be the "semi-special forces". They conducted high risk operations at the light infantry level, but they were never given their separate logistical and intelligence support.

However, due to the War on Terror, Special Operations and CT units are in high demand. So the Force Recon has been scrapped and nearly all of its soldiers have been phased into the MARSOC.

MARSOC is the first real Marine Special Forces.

MSOB DASR operators are the marines contributed to SOCOM command. Most came from 1st and 2nd Force Recon Companies. At the moment the first class just graduated from the training this year. Recon marines provide intelligence ops basically to the MEU levels. If you need any more clarification feel free to pm me.

Yes, MarSOC and part of Force Reconnaissance falls under SOCom,. However USMC also has what is called SOC(Special Operations Capable) which include the other elite marines, like Scout Sniper and Recon Division. The only SF(Special Forces) within the marines is MSOAG(Marine Special Operations Advisory Group) which is under MarSOC, the rest of MarSOC and Force Reconnaissance are SOF(Special Operations Forces).

I am a Cadet Sargeant at the Marine Military Academy and i want to be an officer as pilot or as recon. But i dont know exactly how to get there.
