They've made noises about remaking this film, but I don't know how they could cast it any better than this. And I think I heard they filmed the whole thing in 3 weeks.
Not so fast guys: nice film but it was taken from a fine book. Does anyone know what Higgins thought of how they treated his book? Too bad there are so few interviews anywhere of George V Higgins. This movie would never have been without his great dialog.
I loved the description of Jordan's Foley in the Time magazine review - "exudes the dank and oily atmosphere of a basement" where you can't tell the cops from the criminals. Describes the whole movie - great flick.

@rob9641 They are making another Boston based Higgins book into a film "Cogan's Trade" starring Bard Pitt.

Richard Jordan is excellent. Very few actors can hold their own against Mr. Mitchum, but Jordan was most certainly one of them.

Brilliant film, thank heaven it's finally out on DVD. And Foley never called anybody, the slimebag. Eddie never has a chance.
