Yeah, WBZ was New England's first TV station. You would think that considering it's history, BZ would've had a little bit of a look back. Then again, from what I've seen, BZ hasn't been the same since it went from NBC to CBS.
They don't have their priorities straight: the Clark Rockerfeller case, say what you want about the coverage: but should the crawling Chyron be stating what the changes to had occurred in the following minutes? never mind they cut in ether yesterday or Thursday in the middle of soaps. And they are a CBS O&O, and that's a no no (sorry for a pun not intended). WABC did warn viewers when they cutover at 12:30pm yesterday, sametime as BZ,
Not to diminish the historical importance... but the stations likely figure if they do it with as little fuss as possible, it won't add to the confusion.

Because Boston is bunch of ignorant, laymaned people, never mind the management at the local stations, too are so damned dumb that they don't know the difference between hyper local blogs, to DTV, to MOS or XML for that matter...
RIP, WBZ-TV channel 4!!!

Had digital cable not been installed in my house, I would have provided some footage of the analog-to-digital transition from where I live.

Exactly. I figured that BZ was going to switch off their analog system with style & polish, given their long broadcast tradition. A lost opportunity.

Where was this recorded? My god, I forgot what analog OTA looked like - it's been so long!

I'm about 20 miles south of Boston, but I don't really have a great antenna for Low VHF TV. The antenna used for that was my APS-13 FM antenna.

Heh. At least KYW-TV aired their first test pattern from 1932 (!) when they turned off their tx.

And they were sister stations since the beginning. That must had been special to see,

Or at least when WBZ signed on back almost 60 years ago.
