Do you live in Mississippi ? Seems like you are a major fan of this guy and with good reason, It would be amazing to see him live - when I get into an artist, I tend to go overboard and this guy is having that effect on me :) I am a " little old lady " ( lol) and this guy is the best I have heard in many years. I agree. This guy should have been signed years ago and should have had a couple of platinum albumns by now. However, the music industry is fickle and would rather have non talents that cant sing, synthesize them up in a recording studio and appeal to the little tiny kids who buy the music (Yes, who said Keisha and Beiber, Gaga and so many hideous artists that rap and make a noise but cant sing a note) than to promote a huge talent like Michael Grimm.

Perhaps people who are in the business don't think he has longevity due to the genre he sings but I love it! Can't wait to buy his CD and see some music videos. He sounds better than Bolton. Ray Charles, Otis Redding, some Patsy Cline...he'll bring it back..plus he writes his own..can't wait to hear all his songs too. I am happy he won and happy for his grandparents too. @oldikins I think you need to give Michael Grimm another listen!! Bolton has no where near the soul or gutrenching passion in his voice that Michael Grimm has!! This man has the most amazing voice I've eva heard!! He gets in your soul, gives goosebumps, make you wanna dance, cry,................Seen him live in Mississippi, and he played for 2 1/2 hours!! Best show i ever been to!! And I've seen some greats. He is one of those singers who sound just as good live as on a cd. Hes been signed Epic

Michael Bolton in his prime ( he is 59 ! ) turned females into puddles . This guy is truly AMAZING but since he has done SO MANY Michael Bolton covers , I have to believe he was strongly influenced by him - both have a lot of talent .

He actually has never said that Michael Bolton was one of his influences, he always mentions Otis Redding, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, and George Jones as his biggest influences, lol, but I could definitely see why people who think that because he does cover ALOT of the same tunes as Bolton does.

Well, it may be more accurate that both Bolton and Grimm were inspired by Otis - Etta James may be the best female singer who ever walked the face of this earth with Aretha ( in her early years , singing the standards ) as a very close second . Personally, I would never put George Jones in a class with the other three but I know he has a HUGE fanbase for 50 years so who am I to say ? These are some pretty awesome people to have as musical role models .: )

lol yes very good points... I think the reason why George Jones is one of his influences is because he said he grew up in a country backround and I guess he used to listen to a lot of George and Travis Tritt growing up; as he got older he started listening to those true soul artists who then became his main influences. lol but i agree I wouldn't put George Jones in the same category as Etta, Aretha, and Otis, lol.

Just checked on amazon -seems Jones has over 700 cds ,most rated 5 stars so maybe we are missing something :) I prefer Travis Tritt myself - lots more bluesy Southern rock . My mom played Patsy Cline night and day so guess we love the music we grew up with but as time went on I also found Etta , Aretha ,Otis , Little Walter , so many more greats . And now Michael is right up there with those icons - cannot get enough of this guy !

I saw Michael Bolton live 25 years ago when he was about Grimm's age and believe me ,there was plenty of soul and gut wrenching passion at that concert too : )

THis is not to discredit Grimm- I am " new" to hearing about him ( do not watch AGT ) but from the youtube clips, I agree that he is an outstanding talent and I would buy his music in a heartbeat .

I worked, most of my life, as a professional musician (in Las Vegas and elsewhere) and "sgrifiiths" - an entertainment lawyer and poster here - makes an interesting point. How on earth has he not been signed, previously? This kid is so incredibly talented that one almost wonders if he's schizophrenic, or, has some other sort of bizarre baggage that has derailed his career. This sort of talent it, plain and simple, remarkable. I wish him well - his voice is one that moves the soul.

The boy is Ray Charles made over and beyond. This boy's voice and talent is going to sweep the nation, now that he is getting the exposure that he needs, on Americas God talent show. He is going to put Mississippi on the map.. We are proud of you Michael, and remember your grandparents son, they love you, and they have been there for you when no one else was. The first time I heard Michael was his audition for America's Got Talent! Now as I walked by the TV I thought it was a brother and my amazement. Well you know the rest! This guy made me stop and listen and I thought the same thing. Why is this cat not signed? Hey Justin Timberlake, BabyFace, Clive someone needs to get this man signed. Okay, this guy is so ridiculously good that I'm actually angered that he isn't signed. I'm an entertainment lawyer and know how this business works. Either Michael has resisted signing in the past for some reason and/or labels don't think they can market this music, because there is no way he hasn't been signed due to talent. If this guy were properly produced in a studio with a good cross-over song with radio play and some strategic marketing, he'd make millions. Just my thoughts.

And also a news program, that he was on around July 4th, where he alluded to something about his I Am CD release being his own type of independence statement, I think specifically alluding to not being signed and it was his own CD release/label. So I think it might be what you say, that he has resisted signing.

The world has changed and signing only limites your options and gaurantees you're going to get screwed out of the money you deserve. He's achieving fame and selling his CDs through CDbaby will net him almost 4x the money for each. Now if all an artist needs is a recording studio and promotion. Labels are obsolete.

@hfs450 The show is not only for amateur performers, but unknowns that have been performing for years. Many of the acts have been performing in Vegas, etc., including the kids Future Funk. Haspop has been in an Usher Video, Alice Ridley has been in an off=broadway musical, and that's just a few. Anyone this talented is going to be using that talent somewhere. This show gives them their chance after years of paying dues. I for one am grateful I got the chance to hear this awesome talent.

I love that he has such soul in him. When he sings, he makes you feel the words. His voice grabs your heart and makes it hurt....in a good way. There is just one problem with this video.......it ended to soon! LOL! Also, I can't believe there were so many people talking. I know that it's a restaurant and all, but, I can hardly breath let alone think when he sings!
