i made a shitty bottle cap scale and tried doing this and my black powder was sorta slow but VERY powerfull i did test of just under a gram and it was a huge ball of fire and burnt my hand

i think it might be my sulpher its garden sulpher or maby my charcoal i made it from some random hard wood in my garage

@molywhopx4 Hey man, parts are the ratio in weight between the chemicals, so for 100 grams you want 75 grams of potassium nitrate, 15 grams of charcoal, and 10 grams of sulfur...

@molywhopx4 Hey mate, sulfur is like a million times better than sugar, first sulfur lowers the temp at which gunpowder burns and makes it easier to light, it gives gunpowder that firework smell that we all love :P and it serves as a fuel and makes a powder that burns faster than with sugar, i started out using sugar but i got way better results when i got sulfur, hope that helps

A ball mill will get you better black powder quicker and of better quality and larger quanity. But I think every pyro has started out with a mortar and pestle, Good video btw.

you dont really need to buy pine charcoal...just burn some pinecones on a grill or someting and let it cool...then break the black stuff off of it and thats it..thats what ido

if you want the fastest black powder, willow or balsa charcoal is what you need, pine charcoal is more for a spark effect or a trail effect, you can buy it off the net, or you can make it yourself. i personally like making it my self as i mix different types of woods to see what different typs of effects i can get.

i buy my balsa form my local model airplane store, and i cut branches off my willow tree in my backyard. I have seen some willow charcoal on Ebay but i havent tryed it yet, hopefully that helps
