I never heard or seen this actor before The Walking Dead and I knew something was off about his accent in the show. Now, I know why, the guy is a freakin brit. I'm not American or even a Westerner; but, I used to live in the south for 4-5 years. I can distinguish and imitate 5 different types of southern accents. That's how good I am now with accents. I'm like that professor guy from the movie 'Oscar' lol.

people... you don't realise how half easy for a lot of people from western countries that aren't the USA to pull of an American accent. We are so exposed to American content for all of our lives through TV and Movies... it becomes second nature for a lot of people. What more interesting is how an American could pull of an english or Australian accent... now that is harder. As an Australian, I can always tell the difference.
