  • sucks

  • Wow! I remember as a child seeing this before the solid welded rail came thru our town in Stuarts Draft,Va.I have often wondered just how much rocking a locomotive can take before its comes off track????

  • this shyt sucks slap yo self

    binite

  • Hello Jack. I love the the sound of them alco's. Keep up the good work. When people bitch about the way you do a job it is probably that they are jellous because they can't do as good a job themselves. Highiron110 Richard.

  • @highiron110 Thanks! Glad you, and MANY others enjoy it. If stuff like that bothered me, I would just disable the comment feature. But sometimes I just like to hammer the idiots back, and leave the post so they can make ass's out of themselves. Take care...

  • what kind of horn is that?

  • I've been on far worse track than that LOL! Nice video though.

  • What's a train?

  • what kind is the 2nd engine

  • @RC1135 its an RS23...

  • YEAH THEY SHALE MORE HERE

  • LOL swaying back and forth is ok its when they start bouncing and jumping up and down thats bad means they are derailed

  • what?

  • lame

  • HOLYSHIT the track was bad... They are going pretty darn fast consider the condition...

  • I hope he was rushin to see a pretty woman cause the engineer is ridin on those bad tracks like fuck it!!! LMAO!!!

  • I think it's a great video - with some luck involved too - like the little white butterflies!

  • I hate to think what the trolls would say about my lame videos. This is a good vid. Love trains and their horns. Can't wait till the day when I lay my keychain cam on the tracks.

  • is the second unit an s-12?

  • Who would have thought you could get sea sickness on a train?

  • woah they were goin pretty damn fast for track like that!

  • How could anyone dislike alcos, and it wasn't bad filming, it's better than mine!

  • wow, phukn azz holio

  • Nice! Interesting seeing the rocking.

Always show train enteringrade crossings in case some idiot gets hit.

Then you likely can sell the video to the media and show everyone what happens.

(I would video from beyond the crossing to captureverything.)

  • @1jackdk !!! U'da been far better - writting the video's title ..as ?

All train crews NOW to be issued with Sea Sickness Pills --- after too many sickdays "lost" to alternating rail joints...

    (or something to that effect)

  • @Boss302fan Which is exactly WHY- in places "like" New Zealand, Australia & Britain- Railways have COMBINED rail joints (both rails are joined- at exactly the same linear spot) Such that the ONLY effect- is that of AXLE JUMP- occuring at severely LOW joints

Unfortunately this also allows for "weight attritutable" WHEEL POUNDING to occur on BOTH rail joints at the same time- creating severe stress on their fishplates such that MANY of these crystalise & BREAK

    (often with severe consequences)

  • trains dont have seat belts.

  • "Ward, the boys are fighting again!"

  • seat belts for what?

  • I look forward to the day when train vids on here are labeled correctly. Also look forward to people not constantly playing with the zoom when shooting trains. Won't hold my breath though.

  • @sjtom57 Oh! Wait! How many videos do you have posted? Oh, I know! NONE - O - NOTHING - ZILCH - NATTA !!! LOL Thanks for watching!!!

  • @1jackdk You did forget to say ZIP though! Thought I would help! LOL! Great video! And by the way, for those people who are criticizing you, 1jackdk, about your title mentioning seat belts, I would like to let them know that you were being funny. I thought it was obvious, but apparently not! Although, I wouldn't put past the railroad companies power-that-be to make them mandatory one day...along with airbags and all! Keep up the good work, criticism or not.

  • @armoricain Thanks for looking, and the comment! Yes! I guess I miss calculated the knowledge of most that read the title, and view the clip. Oh well! No big deal!

  • @1jackdk Don't you guys know not to feed the trolls? There's always gonna be haters. This is a good video but I couldn't help thinking that the cars sound like a model train near the end.

  • @sjtom57 there is NO PROPER WAY TO FILM A TRAIN

  • Are train crews really that fragile that they need seat belts for that little bit of movement? I dont think so. Its stupid to say you "hope they have their seat belts on" !

  • AWESOME CATCH SWEET

  • I'm sure your wife makes for a more bumpier and rougher ride than that. You must be a proud man kind sir.

  • @DetroitLove4U Ah .. but at least the "floor" in his wife's bedroom .. ain't as uncomfortable .. as ten ton of gravel & erailway roadbed .. shoved into an upside down loco cab ???

  • Love the infomercial at 0:47

  • nice horn action. i wonder what the cn high-hood rs-18's sounded like?

  • RS3K RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!! GREAT VID!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice RS3K

  • 0:14 scared the shit out of me to

  • @MrPaki1996 What scared the shit out of you? I just see some rocking on a low speed branchline. Pretty typical for short lines or low tonnage operations throughout the world.

  • @Boss302fan Um. No- NOT actually, as throughout the world, (unlike the Americans & Canadians) some actually put some thought into the effects of ALTERNATING rail joints causing TWIST & CANT (THE AMOUNT OF INCLINATION OF ONE RAIL "ABOVE" IT'S OPPOSING RAIL & said CANT- is spelt with an A not a U).

UNEVEN CANT directly relates to causing trains to ROCK & SWAY such that IF the effect is severe- trains can ROCK completely off the rails (& as a "cab" quickly FILLS with gravel- seatbelts are useless)

  • @QUIX4U There are many countries outside of N/A that employ stagger joints. There are pros and cons to both approaches. But yes, "some" did adopt the even joint approach as you say.

My comment was just that rocking of this nature on low tonnage, low speed branch lines can be found throughout the world. Everywhere? No. In many cases lines like this are simply abandoned. But in many countries I have visited, included where I am in Eastern Europe right now, the approach was uneven joints.

  • 0:14 scared shit out of me

  • that was pointless

  • I guess there is a certain speed at which these cars rock out of control, have they tested what speed that is?

  • I hope the were holding on tightly to their coffee or it's on the floor of the cab now. Love those old Alcos, but the Alcos and the old GEs never did ride very well. I'd still take the rough ride just to be onboard an old Alco.

  • best part is the sound, thanks, jd

  • I'm a veteran of bad track (SP) but that's ridiculous at that speed1

  • @DeserTBoB93535 Oh...compared to some of the SP track I ran on in the past this isn't all that bad...and the speed certainly isn't ridiculous.

  • If my life ever succumbs to filming and posting such crap, please come and shoot me.

  • @MrThisIsMeToo Fortunately for you I have a gun....and given that you have succumbed already to something far more pointless than this video, I can put it to good use for you!

  • Nice audio especially at the end when he's accelerating away.

  • That train looked like it was rocking side to side. Didn't look safe to me!

  • @FCannova Welcome to branchline railroading. I've ridden far worse.

  • @FCannova It may not look safe to you, but undoubtedly you are not experienced in judging such things. This is not unsafe at all.

  • this is probably one of the most dull videos i have ever watched on youtube, good work

  • OMG thats a long train :p

  • F.Y.I trains DON`T have seatbealts.=) =)=)=)=)

  • @demeandr121 THEY DON'T??? I'M DEVASTATED!!!! I DIDN'T KNOW THAT!!! LOL

  • @1jackdk haha, maybe the designers felt a seatbelt was irrelevant when you can just charge through anything in your path.

  • @demeandr121 OMG they don't (?) Next U'll be saying TRAINS don't have steering (note- I only said steering- not STEERING WHEELS- just in case U thought I didn't know).

And yes- U'll START to say- NO- they don't HAVE any steering.

But that's where U will finally BE WRONG.

As it is in fact the "effect" of having a bevelled FLANGE on the inside of ALL train wheels- which allows TRAINS to have a "steering" effect- which- via friction (amongst other things) gives TRAINS the ability to TURN CORNERS

  • @demeandr121 some of osr's loco infact did have seat belt, I was one of there diesel tech for over 9 years thank god I'm not anymore what a jack ass boss (J.W) they have and there VP is just as bad if not worse (B.J)

  • Soo this is a short line, to which railrod owns the short line??

  • A typical Yard Run.

  • Ive seen an engine do that before, but from front to back, and much worse. It looked rather un-natural, sorta like a head-banging locomotive..

  • so much for the mainenance of way keepin up with those tracks, dangerous

  • @dascooker Not dangerous at all. Just branchline trackage.

The fact remains that for many short line operations there just isn't the money available to keep up track for higher speeds. So for short shuttle operations moving tonnage at 10mph with a bit of rocking is just business as usual.

  • um ok did not get it

  • Out of service because of a crankshaft failure? Dam, that doesn't happen too often does it?

  • like the little switcher behind the loco :)!

  • What the hell it didn't hit anything!

  • Nice! I painted one of these for MSTS.

  • umm why u say hhope they gots theyr beltz on?

  • Why do you hope they have seat belts on? Those engines dont even have seat belts. What is going on? Nothing unusual happened.

  • cool switcher.

  • happy ending ^^

  • ...that train is not for persons...

  • spam did you see the truck???

  • Awesome horn and power! Gotta love the old power! Keep up the great work man!

  • is this all you do is take videos of trains.... epic

  • Always makes me nervous when im sprayin "on track" and see one comin head on or up besides me doin that lol

  • Cool zoom modes :) and cool train

  • there is a shortline RR in Little Rock and its just like that they have to go really slow cause the condition on the track!

  • what make is the switcher that they have dead in tow? It kind of looks like a baldwin switcher to me but i really cant tell for shure

  • @bassman34516 i see now its a S12, 13 or A T6

  • @bassman34516 i think its an s unit,the t6 had nose contours

  • You could have watched paint dry! Or maybe watch grass grow. Sorry you lost 56 seconds of your life. I hate when that happens. Life is to short as it is... Thanks for watching anyway!!!

  • @1jackdk

I was just havin some fun.

Hope i didnt offend you. Everyone to their own ect ect.

  • No problem, and no offence taken!!! Take care, and have a good day... Jack

  • Thanks i like trains

  • @1jackdk

    Thanks 1jackdk,

    Another fine USA Railroad video!

-No problem, the train in question is transporting milk -To be frothed at the destined 'milk-shake-makin' factory!!'

But seriously, Those very primitive segmented section rail lengths result in only one thing: Bumpy, Wavy rides!

In Europe they've attempted to rectify the problem, with some gains, some losses...

Railways are the future, But how ???

  • @guthywoodry In North America many low-tonnage branch lines are run this way. Short, slower trains move the products from small towns or factories to mainlines where they are then assembled in to high speed long distance trains. There's not much like it in Western Europe. Just a difference in the way nations evolve.

For many types of traffic in many nations railways will be there for the future. It's a very clean fuel efficient way to move tonnage. But it won't work everywhere.

  • @Boss302fan I live in France and there's still a good deal of lightly maintained branches out there, beside those which have been closed between the 60's and 90's. One branch runs from my hometown (45,000) for 10mi. to a chemical plant.

Operating speed is limited to 10mph, usual daily consists include a handfull of cylindrical covered hoppers trailed by a lone diesel.

    Trains aren't all TGV's in Europe ;-)

  • @061369317 Thanks for the info. I have never been to France and seen French railroading firsthand. Good info. Thanks for passing it on.

Branch line (short line) railroading is very common in many countries and have had a lot to do with preserving rail service to small communities. It's not always the answer, but I've seen it work throughout the world.

    Again...thanks for the info!

  • @1jackdk Thank's great vid :)

  • thats how to reply to a comment!

  • @1jackdk youra dick to ppl who are idiots...i love i... we would get along!!

  • @turb047123 Nahhhh...you wasted more time typing out this little whine of yours...so now you are really in the hole! Try the sesame street videos...they should be easier for you to understand and relate to.

  • The second engine is a switcher unit!

  • I JUST LOVE THE HONNNN!!! Thanks for putting this up. Try putting more videos with TRAIN HONNSS! IT WILL BE AWESOME AND SOOO COOOLL!!

  • Dont you mean horn not honn. just use the search feature that youtube has.

  • Man that was a long wait! (whew)

  • thst would be fun but also dangerous and locomotives dont have seat belts do they?? love the vid

  • @DrivenBlack THANKYOU!!! Thankyou very much for watching. Glad you enjoyed it. LOL

  • awesome taping some of the big video production companys can learn a thing or 100 from you 5+ stars

  • @rvrjr7

  • :D Rock`n Roll

  • Damn i'd be puckered up

  • OMG the track is crap!

  • That's a long ass train!

  • This is nothing....

You should see the Kelowna Pacific line, they never fix shit.

  • lol thats smooth, come up north

  • 2 engines for 3 cars?

  • That's a little minor harmonic-rocking. I've driven worse ... at much higher speeds.

  • Does the company posess such a thing as a tamping machine?

The locomotive rocks because the track settles at the joints. The cure is to lift the track slightly & re-pack the ballast under the ties.

  • dude look how much it was tilting like it would have tiped over

  • so how does this title have to do with a traib going by a railroad crossing?

  • if you actually took notice of the Loco's rocking side to side you'd understand

  • Nice sound while it is driving away from you

  • That was a pretty sweet catch. Great video!

  • That train looks like what my car does driving down any shitty highway here in Pennsylvania!!!

  • try goddamn Quebec

  • ooo thats sooooo not good very worring :-(

  • first grain car= OMG its gonna tip!!!

  • wow...thats a derailment waiting to happen

  • Got tamp?

  • Excellent! Lovely horn!

  • really...2 engines to pull 3 cars...

  • There's an interchange in town with the Goderich & Exeter and a fair bit of traffic goes that way. They may have handled more cars in town, and may have hauled more into town on the inbound trip. At any rate, they usually use two engines on their freight duties and train sizes can vary from just a couple cars to a dozen or more.

  • Lovely horn, but the wobble is a li'l bit scary.

  • Yeah, gotta be a speed limit on that stretch.

  • That railbed needs work.

  • For the speed and tonnage it's moving....seems ok

  • It's 25 MPH max, but the line is only a distance of about 10-15 miles in total. It's strictly a shortline local switching operation.

  • Absolutely. I ran a branch one time with welded rail and good for speeds up to 60 or so. But I ran the line at 25 max as it was only about 10 miles to the interchange.

Lower speeds meant far les regulations and inteference with the FRA. And the cost on crew time was basically so small as not to be a factor.

In many cases when you see a line that looks like it needs work, in reality the tonnage and speeds just do not call for upgraded track and the associated expense.

  • gotta love that horn

  • NIce video , i like that horn . Like the train too

  • i love this video !! keep it up man!

  • liveley ride

  • Nice! Thanks! There is no locomotive or railroad video that I dislike.

  • nice product placement @ the end :p

  • beautiful horn!!!

  • I think I saw Bruce Mercer and Brad Jolliffe holding hands in the cab....

  • Actually I quite like it, but I think that your name is gay as hell.

  • You Cunt! You've just opened Pandora's Box. You might as well close down your channel, and piss off

  • What? Why are you mad, I apologized for the comments.

  • Nobody cares about you...

  • so it seems

  • What kind of horn is that?

  • either a K3L or K3H. They both play the same cord but just different manifolds.

  • how many RS-18's do they have? 3,4?

  • They have a few, don't recall how many. But a few weeks after I shot this video, this 18 had a crank shaft failure, and was sidelinded. Don't know if its been repaired since...

  • that sucks, they look too nice in that paint to be left in a shop for who knows how long.

  • Thats one hell of a lash up too. Great video!

  • Sweeety the video!!!

  • nice horn 5 stars

  • I was hoping for a BANG clatter, clatter, clatter.... smoke and flames engine shit.

  • Jeez, at least that isn't a 40mph-max-speed mainline. We were passing a mixed CSX heading westbound into Russell and it looks like one of the tracks (or the bed under it) is lowered in front of the coke plant. Someone might want to try and fix that. The cars had to have rocked at least as much as these.

  • I live close by a rail road track, I see that happen to the train everyday. Everyday, as it pass by, I pray to god it want crash.

  • Time to get the tamper out

  • nice osrx they r kool i lived in guelph for most of my life

  • Excellent! The truck "at work" going past was just awesome for timing.....

  • ALCO'S! YEAH!

  • tracks need to be shimmed......

  • SHIMMED???????? where the hell are you from?? tamp the track not shim it...foamer

  • love the horn nice and mellow

  • Rock 'n' roll !!!

  • you dont see that every day...a switcher in the mix....

  • yea thats pretty rare!

  • Regardless of the permanent way, that's a nice Alco chug.
