wasn't this ride sponsored by the old Eastern airlines back in the 80's?My first time to WDW was in 1986 and for some reason,I seem to remember this ride being sponsored by eatern airlines that of course is now out of business.Am I right or wrong? Thanks for any help and info.
gah! This was my FAVORITE ride at disneyworld when i was little...stupid people had to take it away and but buzz lightyear there :( This was so much better
While I like Buzz..this ride was like a perfect way to begin my day at Disney because to me, I used my imagination and it had that Disney "magic" on the attraction. Imagine watching the wing walker or the outer-space scene in HDTV! lol Thanks for putting this up for us.
I was pretty young when I rode this back in the mid-nineties. I am unsure as to wether or not they had a gift shop of any sort...As I remember it, the ride was very Peter Pan's Flight-esque sans Fantasyland buit far better.
This was replaced with Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger's Spin.
While I miss these old rides, I love the new. I loved dreaming of flying off too far away places, and now I enjoy trying to beat my hubby's score without out doing my son lol.
I'm with you! We used to ride this for the short line (no line, usually), the A/C, and the relaxing nature of it. I liked it a lot, but Buzz Lightyear is a blast.
What I hate is when they replace a classic with something that falls short of the greatness of the original. I used to LOVE the World of Motion attraction, and I've never thought the replacing attraction, Test Track, was as good as it was intended to be. Oh well! You win some, you lose some!
@vigo894 Yeah!! What was that smell! I distinctly remember it from when I went in about 1992!!! It was like the smell of clouds! lol!!! What was that???
This is another older Disney ride that I didn't like as much as what replaced it. Sure, it was a classic, but Buzz Lightyear was the first arcade shooter ride, and it still is a blast even though there are other rides similar to it out now. It's nice to see what it was before though.
I have video of WDW and Ebcot from 1986 1992 and 1995. The rides then were a olt better than they are now. I think I will upload them. I went last year with my kids and it was not the same, they took out all of the rides I use to love and altered some. It kind of ruined it for me. My kids loved it none the less. I guess I just wanted to see what I saw as a child and was let down.
I remember going on this when it was still called "If You Had Wings." I think that was sponsored by Eastern Airlines...now those were the good old days of WDW. I've been going to this resort practically since I was born and have seen the changes. People who have never been there except recently really have no idea what they missed back then. The old Horizons (gone now) and Universe of Energy are other great examples...thanks for the posting!
I loved this ride so much. Then we visited and it was called Take flight, and then that TOOK flight and it was Buzz lightyear. Meh. We need a YESTERDAY land with all the old good rides!
Thank you so much for posting. I love the old rides at Disney World and I remember when I went one year and this was gone. I love what I guess are the diorama-old-school rides. I could remember being little and being in there. Also, these are what I called the "Downtime" rides. When it was too hot, there were no lines and you could sit in the air-conditioning. Thanks again. It brought back so many memories.
omggggggg thats such a fuckin awesome idea and time.
What a fuckin lucky person you are! too bad i was ages 5-11 while this ride was still alive and was too young for mind enhancers, but i can surely imagine how you musta felt.
man I miss this ride I wish they kept it this was such a great ride and it brings back so many childhood memeries I was abouut 5 and 6 years old when I rode this when I found out that the toy story ride replaced it thanks for posting rip delta dreamflight 1990 - 1998 but oh man buzz lightyears mistake spin I mean space ranger spin replaced it big mistake
Thank you for posting this. I rode Dreamflight on my first trip to WDW when I was 7. Didn't remember anything about it, except going through the jet engine. My lil brother got really scared but I loved it. Good memories of years gone by :(.
This brings back memories from my childhood. I love Disney World but I hate how their constantly taking away all of the classics. I miss this ride along with Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Body Wars, Cranium Command and 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.
Hey when did you visit USA? I remember all the old classics too :-) The first i ever went was back in 1994 (i think). Been hooked ever since ! visiting again this september. I am so counting the months, weeks, days hours minutes and yes, seconds !
Ive always loved thrill rides but my mother hates them and this is the one ride that she really looked foward to ridind. The ride which we all gladly rode together. I hate that they replaced it. Im pretty sure that they had space to add build a new location for buzz, instead of replacing this one
oh my god... this seriously almost puts tears in my eyes. This was the single most memorable ride for me when I went to disneyworld. Im only 25..but still, this was my favorite. the atmosphere, the smell of the air and music are what made it amazing..thank you so much for posting this.. brings back SO MANY MEMORIES
Im so with you on that one. im 23 and i rode this like 20 times one trip when i was in first grade, now when i go back i still feel like that first grader when im there and all the memories come rushing back
i loved this ride when i was younger then like in 2003 or 04 it was gone i was sooo upset i think buzz lightyear was there . i nearly cried lol. just cuz i felt like it was a part of the park . and my dad was a pilot on delta so it was a fond memory of mine , thank you soo much . for the memory recap
Thank you to the person who posted this video. This was one of my favorite rides at Walt Disney World. When the park was getting ready to close, I would ride it as many times as I could. I was so pissed when they took the ride out. Thanks again.
almiriade - you aren't at all overreacting because I just did the very same thing... :-) Brings back some very special memories-i am going in September this year, and i am so excited, i keep logging onto youtube andthe disney website to watch videos... i cant wait :-)
I used to bring a cup of pennies into Dream Flight and my friend and I would throw them at the ride's characters. Never a line. You used to be able to ride DreamFlight over and over. The good ol' days.
Maybe I am a little overreacting but when I saw this video I cried, it was my favourite ride and reminds me of my vacations in WDW with my family. I hope they don't keep changing things the way they are doing lately!
Maybe I am a little overreacting but when I saw this video I cried, it was my favourite ride and reminds me of my vacations in WDW with my family. I hope they don't keep changing things the way they are doing lately!
As if us adults don't mean a thing. When I was a kid, Disney had awesome rides. Now, they make it better for kids in this day in age. Kids these days don't appreciate anything as it is. This is a ride they can turn back unlike world of motion or horizons. They should do it
That was because of its partnership cancellation with Delta, when they were about to sponsor the '96 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, thought you might like to know. I remember this ride, too; I rode it when I was little, but the scariest part was entering the inside of the jet engine. That scared the daylights out of me SO much, I buried my face in my mom's coat until the footage of the plane taking off appeared. The rest of it was nice and peaceful. It was a shame for it to close down.
first time i went on this was 94 came back in 96 then in 98 it was gone :( booooo and i havnt been back since. i loved it though im 21 now and would love to go back to wdw
My first WDW trip was in April 98, and this ride was already gone for good. After viewing this, I realize it wasn't at all wht I had pictured it to be. I love the Buzz ride, but this looked pretty cool too. It seemd like classic WDW. Thanks for the glimpse!
Thank you so much for posting this. This was one of our favorite rides. Buzz sucks! I miss this. I miss what Tomorrowland used to be...before it became "Character Land"
I still remember what was here BEFORE Dreamflight...anybody remember it? It was called "If I had Wings." (or maybe it was if YOU had wings). The good old days indeed. There was an actual ticket agent at the end of the ride to book reservations. I believe it was Eastern Airlines (maybe Republic)..it's been years obviously.
I remember this ride from way back when. I wish it were still around, I love Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin but I loved this ride more. Alot of my favorites at Magic Kingdom are gone.
Loved this ride....I also love Buzz Lightyear's Spin, I just wish there was a way they could've kept Dreamflight too. Unfortunately, many of my favorite past Disney World attractions have been made into new ones that are either thrill rides which are too rough for me, or rides that are mostly for young kids.
i ride it in 92, 94, 97 and in 2002 delta dreamflight was closed and updated by buzzlightyear the only thing that they keeped was the spinnig light simulating the flight!!!!!!
This was probably my FAVORITE ride as a kid. I's so ticked they replaced it with a Buzz Lightyear Shooting Gallery. (The stupid guns they give you barly even move, so it's next to impossible to hit the stupid Zs! There's not even a little laser pointer to help you know where you're aiming. Idiot Ride Designers.)
Great video. I used to work at Space Mountain in the late 90s and had many friends who worked the tomorrowland circuit of attractions (Dreamflight/Timekeeper/TTA/AlienEncounter). I was there the last summer for Dreamflight and took some last walk throughs before it was gone. I was very sad to see it go but I know from a business perspective, Buzz's ride is a bigger success. Ah, the march of progress. Again...thanks!
WOW man, this was such a chill & relaxing ride. I never minded when the ride was stopped for a few minutes. It'a a shame this is no more, the ride like takes you to another world. That was all the brilliant mind of Walt Disney.
Oh please I beg you don't confuse this any further. I am aware of Buzz's ride as I have finally achieved my 'Galactic Pilot' Status last week when we were there. I was commenting that I felt 'Delta Dreamflight' and 'If You Had Wings' were close enough to be considered an updated version. But it is only my opinion and not very important in the scheme of things.
Xadllas is right...they are completely different attractions. Just trust me on this...coming from someone who has been on this and the previous attraction MANY times.
i remember this ride when i was younger. i used to ride this ride every time right after i got off of the Extra Terrestrials Alien Encounter rides and this ride always calmed me down.
they took it out in '98, and replaced it with Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. I realy wished they didnt. I loved Delta Dreamflight, I miss it, I completely forgot about it for a few years until about 5 min ago then looked it up. Another good attraction they replaced was Extra Terrorestrial Alien Encounters with Stitch's Great Escape.... now I have never seen Stitch's Great Escape, but I refuse to... I miss my alien encounters damn it! lol
I am so excited. I go to Disney on the 17th. I've gone on TONS of planes before. But that's when I was little. Latley I've been developing fears for everything. So I am a little scared of planes. I'm such a loser.
This brings back very treasured memories of my first visit - 1994... have loved this ride since..... so sad it left..

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do we love flying?
(2) Why do children enjoy to fly more than adults?
(3) Why do we like to see the Disney cartoon characters to fly high in the sky?
(3) Why do we like to fly on a commercial aeroplane with our favorite Disney catoon characters?
(4) Will a Disney airline attractive to pasengers?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brsinatorm!!! :)

I had vague memories of this from when we went to Disney when I was six, so it's cool to see it!

Thanks for this one. One of my favorites from Disney-past!!

Dreamflight was a lot of fun. Its great to see it again. Funny how the Buzz replacement follows the same tracks and a few of the rooms are the same.

The ride was great but liberals truly suck.

Ah, denial is always fun.

I loved this ride also. However, I have got to admit that Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin is better.

I remember this ride! I rode it first when I was seven! (Born 1965). This is the "updated" version. Thanks for the memory!
FemmeDePunkRock 5 years ago
Um no, its not an updated version. You're talking about If You Had Wings which was a completely different attraction.
Xadllas 4 years ago
You don't think another version of a ride about flight is an 'updated' version? hmmmm
FemmeDePunkRock 4 years ago
the ride is now gone. Buzz Ranger's Space Ranger Spin current;y occupies the building.
bluebarryd441 4 years ago
Oh please I beg you don't confuse this any further. I am aware of Buzz's ride as I have finally achieved my 'Galactic Pilot' Status last week when we were there. I was commenting that I felt 'Delta Dreamflight' and 'If You Had Wings' were close enough to be considered an updated version. But it is only my opinion and not very important in the scheme of things.
FemmeDePunkRock 4 years ago
Xadllas is right...they are completely different attractions. Just trust me on this...coming from someone who has been on this and the previous attraction MANY times.

i really hate the new ride that took this one's place... the buzz light year thing is cheesy! It's the same track and everything. How lame.

When was this ride removed from the park? I don't remember it at all and I've been there 9 times.
danzin2it 5 years ago
they took it out in '98, and replaced it with Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.
