They got their name from the Omaha police department, 311 was referring to a code, I don't exactly remember what it meant though. My friend rages though how 311 is racist because 3 11's in the alphabet=KKK, lol fail
@RetracRegit the omaha police code for indecent exposure because apparently a couple of their members were arrested in a park or similar setting for swimming naked in a river and were arrested for indecent exposure and put into the back of a police car wet and naked
@xXxSilentHeroxXx 311 is an Omaha police code for indecent exposure. One rainy day, P-Nut and some friends went skinny dipping in a public pool. They were apprehended by police. One of P-Nut’s friends (Jim Watson) was arrested, cuffed (naked) and taken home to his parents. He was issued a citation for a code 311 (indecent exposure). We thought this was funny, so we took it as our band name.
@MarkBradshawMusic Its either a rhythm or lead park because theres another guitar playing higher notes just listen to the parts that Martinez sings it takes over the beat track and has sort of a funk style to it. You can see them play it when they performed live on Jimmy Kimble
Mark, don't even respond to the haters, bro. You rocked this song! When I want to hear this song around the house, I pull up yours as opposed to 311's. Too much psychedelic going on in that one anyway. ;)
@Badassified It kicks ass! I got it for about $700 (half price) from the Musician's Friend warehouse because it had a scratch on the BACK of the body lol otherwise, it was brand new....
@Mu5icB3ast Practice every day! Keep at it, it will all add up eventually and turn into some great skills no matter how difficult it seems at the time... Tim does use some interesting timing with his strumming, kinda choppy. I listen to stuff over and over until I can play the song note for note in my mind and just play along with it. That is something I love so I don't need a recording and have to screw with rewinding and replaying it. I can mentally go to any section of the song on demand.
Hey dude, posted the tabs on Ultimate...just updated it because I left out an F and forgot to give you kudos...new version should be up in a day or two.

@kittykatkitkat2054 thanks, I appreciate it! my shirt is from a band called Rufio! definitely check them out if you like my guitar work at all. That band (along with 311) is pretty much the reason I started playing guitar!
@MarkBradshawMusic niice!! i like the guitar work in that band, i can see where the isparation comes from :) great job keep up the good work on your covers and such.. Do you produce your own music??
@kittykatkitkat2054 yep! I have an instrumental EP on my youtube channel if you'd like to check it out! I write all of the parts for the other instruments in addition to the guitar, too.
Disregard previous...I watched how you did the bridge again and I'm still off...more work to do (I've only been playing 3 years so not nearly as advanced as you).
I tabbed the whole thing out last night on paper. I'll try to post tonight and would be interested in your feedback...the timing of the bridge was the only tricky part.
Well maybe I need a Octave pedal...I've been hesitant because I already have a distortion pedal which duplicates what I have on my amp (and frankly degrades it) and a DD-20 Digital Delay (GiGa Delay-dual pedal) which I don't even know how to use...I would have to take a course to understand the damn manual.

and yes, I agree, those two songs are better, but I still enjoy this one quite a bit. I will do more covers like this once the album comes out if you are interested!
Cool. Being the first is always uber important to getting views on youtube. Way to get the song down, recorded and uploaded in lightning speed...sounds good.
@sl9guitar the intro it is, but I don't have one. That's why I played the harmony the second time around in the lower octave to show that you can do it either way, depending on whether you have an octave pedal or not.
