Skyrim is the ONLY game that's out right now that justifies the $60 price tag with the size of the game and the unlimited things to do while playing. Most games (even big name games) aren't even worth $40. Shit, I'd pay $100 to play Skyrim.

There were 2 well designed and great games this year, protal 2 and bastion . Anyone who has played more games then Cod and fifa would tell you that, this is a bit of bitchy thing to say, but i think skyrim won due it been the first rpg that was "cool" to play, a few years back if you said you played rpgs in school youd be called a nerd, now gaming is becoming more accepted, and thus skyrim , while a good game, i think gets alot of its success from it been the first accepted rpg.

But what i meant in general was that, skyrim won the popularity contest, and gaming awards dont have the back bone (in general) to go against the grain, and give it to a different game, even if it deserved it.
I like MW3 but I have to admit Skyrim had alot more time put into develping it, i've been playing it alot over the last 2 months and I don't think it even has a end, it is a very well put together game the only thing i wish is that there was atleast a co-op 2 player feature so you could atleast have a friend play with you instead of followers which i tend to accidently barbacue. xbox live would have been nice maybe elder scrolls VI will have a 2 player option

@Whictimized look i do not denied that Bastion is a great game but Dark Soul give me the typ of challange i want... sure the game is on it own though but this is also a different of view.. over all i believe that Dark Soul is the better one because it draw me in and don't let me go easly here.. also those who be honest this game is pain but really good is not a 08/15 easy blow cake game.. so i really enjoy it.. but Bastion lag on something that i cosidering it to be nominee

Game of the year should have gone to The Witcher 2 then again these things are popularity contests a flawed method to find a good game.As much as i enjoy Skyrim there is no story line no impacting decisions or even a strong side character not to mention the bugs.Chuck in a open world fetch quests and people go crazy ask yourself.

Are there only boring fetch quests? No. Witcher 2 wasn't on the list for a reason. The Elder Scrolls series is popular for a reason. @masterpivot098765432 It seems you have no idea what a branching narrative is.In regards to the story line the Witcher 2 had shades of grey and you could effect the outcome of events it was not linear as Skyrim is.Skyrim does not even have any strong side characters to mention and the side quests are foolish fetch quests.I do enjoy Skyrim it is a amazing game but i feel The Witcher 2 was a better RPG.
