  • What's Cosmic Panda???

  • Fly's live longer than 24 hours. They can get trapped in the house for weeks before they starve.

  • I know. make the dog into a pillow. call chuck testa.

  • i dont mean this in a horrible way dan but from wot i can see your house doesn't really look homey

  • dude, you're thinking of mayflies lol

  • Flies live several days, not hours.

  • If you having fly problems I feel bad for you son, I got 100 problems but a fly ain't one, hit me!

  • Comment removed

  • hmm i got only 99 problems, but a biitch aint one

  • hey can you pls xplain me things about parallel universe.... they exists or not....wht r they....thnx...

  • He just sits there and talks?????

  • HTe vid stared buffering at 0:50 , exactly when he made that weird crying face.

  • Solution: Get a cat.

  • That is the cutest damn dog. Just saying

  • We humans tracks time in another way than animals. They just live their life, they don't could seconds.

Five seconds can "feel" like forever, since they have no track on time.

    But that's just my theory.

  • Yeah the dawg won't setle down. Just take out the garbage and the dawg will do that. Its annoying but funny when you can sarcastically say that you were only gone for 7 years! :P

  • Squishing it with your toes? EW DAN!

  • WHAT!?

  • You do tend to exaggerate with your video titles, Dan. :)

  • Dogs have amazing hearing, how do you know she couldn't hear you ?

  • the real problem is that you wear crocs...

  • FUCKING YOUTUBE i kept pausing and its playing still

  • You should put a security camera by your door and see if your dog does indeed bark when you're gone.

  • why is this called 100 problems ?

  • Everytime my mom leaves and I'll be in my room, my dog will think she's home alone because she doesn't know I'm home. From the moment my moms car drives off, she will sit by the front window and howl very loudly. It's so sad, but so cute.

  • You have way too much free time :)

  • I enjoyed your trail-crumb-like thoughts :)

  • love ur videos ... kudos

  • dogs think in sequencing order, but they have no perception of time, so

"Masters gone :(, ... food, ... nap... Masters back :D" all in lets say 1 day,

but to the dog there was no time lost in that sequence. which is why they can wait for their master for long periods of time and still remain very loyal,

  • if flies only lived for a day, do they sleep?

  • flies don't die in 24 hours, the avg lifespan is 20-30 days

i learned that from stumbleupon :D

    also einstein never failed math.

  • he took down the stuff wall

  • I love how you are using youtube to get help with your dog problems/answer your dog questions.

  • Have you tried leaving the TV on for the dog? OR you could even put your youtube videos on DVD to pop in for the dog when you leave.

  • The adult fly lives from two weeks to a month in the wild, or longer in benign laboratory conditions. ~ Per Wikipdia

  • SHOCK COLLAR!!!!???

  • problem is the relativity index of human life in relation to whatever other life being you mention, fly, dog, oahmeba. it's like the size relationship between human hands and fruit, such that most fruit in the world fits comfortably in the palm of your hand. that relativity size index is perfect for the most part...likewise the time differential btwn a fly, say, & yur life expansion is perfect, because: and heres the solution to your problem - the thinking capacity of the fly is proportional

  • time is something that our brain create in order to give sequence and order to things!

  • you should get a new dog to keep her company

  • the reason she's responding like that, is reliant on how you part with your dog. next time you go out, don't say goodbye, don't pat her, don't say stay... distract her with a ball or something, feed her (not a treat, dogs have a diffrent understanding of what a treat is, she'll think you're praising her, or want something from her.) and when she's distracted, sneak out. Then she will not bark while your gone. THUMBS UP so he can see. TRUST ME IT WORKS!

  • @hunter4hire Kinda like how we'd distract my baby sister when my dad would go out to work. She'd cry like mad seeing him go.

  • i was just watching around 1:10 when my mom heard "seconds" i had to find something related to math and lol i keep watching

  • now that i think about it you have a pretty nice house for only being 21

  • Hahahahaha "a net gain"

  • That's one more than Jay-Z

  • You said on your video Adorable Puppy that dogs have superior noses and ears so don't worry she doesn't bark the hole time you're gone only when she smells you or listen to you !!!!

my dog can scent my when I'm in a taxi so by the time I go into my house all my neighbours are awake !!!

  • I just caught a fly that has been in my room for the last few days and crushed it with my bare hands, im a ninja!!!

  • The average house fly lives for about 2 weeks. Your video is still interesting and relevant, but I thought you would like to know.

  • You could leave a camera recording... or you could just ask your neighbors...? But to calm her anxiety, you could leave a radio on at a low volume. There are also dog toys that you can fill with peanut butter and freeze it to keep her occupied. One other thing you could try would be to get a blanket or piece of cloth and rub your scent on it, then leave it with the dog when you go out.

  • LOL! You are great. :)

  • 100 problems but a bitch aint one.

  • @BramBREAKDOWN But a FLY* ain't one :3

  • how do you know shes barking the whole time? don't forget dogs have a great sense of smell and hearing so she might just start barking when she hears you coming home

  • Dan, the only thing that could make this stuff better is skipable ads.

  • Dan!! The dog knows when you are coming home.. Leave a recorder on at your home for the day on the computer to check if he is barking during the day. Dogs have a 6th sense and they know that you are coming. This has been studied, and nobody knows why but it is true. Make a check with your windows sound recorder etc. Before you take her to the kennel!

  • if you being gone for a couple hours is like a day to her then playing/walking with her for a couple hours is like playing with her for a day.

  • Dogs have a poor sense of object permanence. When you leave it's possible that they think you're never coming back. Some people alleviate this by turning on the tv or a talk radio show and leaving it on when they leave. Hearing people talking makes the dog think you're still there.

People saying to use a bark collar have a valid suggestion but I don't think it should be your first solution.

  • I'd like to compound @zippythewildone 's idea. Dan!!! You should plug a computer into some good speakers and play a playlist of your videos on youtube.

  • @pianomanIN2009 This is a good idea too!

  • I know the bark collars ounds mean and it would hurt, but all it does is vibrate on the dogs neck. She will stop barking trust me!

  • Buy a bark collar

  • bring him/her with you????

  • common houseflies live for about a month.

The 24 hour lifespan is a myth. Some species of fruit fly have very short lifespans, but even they live a few days.

  • After hearing so much about the fly, it was pretty depressing to hear that you killed it. R.I.P. Gef the fly.

  • you should read the short story about a flie written by knut hamsun

  • thumbnail reads "100 problems (and a bitch....

    ...is one)"

  • Why is Jay-Z one of your tags? Anyway, my dog is kennel trained and I think maybe that comforts her when I am gone. A kennel is a safe place for her and maybe she would benefit from that sense of security.

  • you dog probably wasn't barking the whole time. I know my dog barks whenever he hears someone outside. So that could be the reason ani was barking

  • Then cat are REALLy lasy, they can just be chilling in fron of the fireplace for a whole day :P

  • If you got fly problems I feel bad for you son. I got 99 problems but insects ain't one.

  • My 7 year old cat STILL does the same thing. I haven't got complaints about her thankfully. When I am walking up to the building after work and can hear her I think it's because she's used to my routine and knows I should be home any moment now and she's excited. She is also very needy since her mom was taken away from her and her siblings far too young so she never got to fully develope... I have NO idea what that has to do with your situation though! haha, sorry! record Ani while you're gone.

  • a fly's average life span is 2 weeks...just so ya know...

  • You have 100 problems? so the bitch was one of em?

  • Flies can live up to 30 days.

  • @jacobtribiani White blood cells live two weeks, and red blood cells live up to 4 months.

  • Ani can probably hear you or smell you or sense you before she sees you. Doubtful that she barks the whole time. Film it and lets see! ;D

  • record ur vice, just read a book, or anything, then put it on repeat for when ever u go out, and she wan't feel as alone

  • train your dog. that's what I did. Guid dogs for the blind FTW

  • What can you do? Well what are you trying to achieve?

  • This is the first video I've watched and enjoyed since the d3po start.

  • put on the radio. dogs like it sometimes.

  • My dog used to have that problem, but we found that putting talk radio on while we were gone soothed her.

  • every once in a while, i just need to hear an intelligent person talk. so i watch your videos, and im satisfied

  • 2 hours=14 dog hours

  • Dan, my dog is the same as Ani :) Ani probably doesn't bark the entire time you're gone. My dog(a Maltese/Bichon mixed aka one of those little dogs haha) can sense my mom before she's even out of her car. She would pull into the driveway(we also live in an apartment) and he would run to the door and start crying and pawing at it already. Ani just senses when her master is home :)

  •

  • There's this shirt called the "thunder shirt" that you can put on dogs suffering from noise and separation anxiety. It's an adjustable, tight shirt that swaddles dogs. It puts constant pressure on their nervous system which calms them down. It works really well on our Boston Terrier. =)

  • Flies can

  • Solution to your problem----->The Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan.

    ,.

  • A fly can have a life span of around 30 days!

  • Flies live for about a month, not 24 hours.

  • How could you kill it?????????? XD

  • You should make a Dan robot to keep Ani company while you're gone.

  • dan, one way to tackle the problem is to simply ignore ani, until she stops barking. don't even acknowledge her. but when she stops barking and jumping give her her favorite treat and give her affection. she'll soon get the picture, but it might take a few tries.

  • Dogs have no sense of time, which can explain such high levels of excitement to see you. You can be gone for 20 mins and it will feel like several hours or even days to them. My family has a dog that gets even more excited than Ani when I come home.

  • i got 99 problems but a bitch aint one

  • I thought you were like 30. Not cuz u look that old but cuz ur so mature

  • wait, moderator module don't work for me. Where is it?

  • well, a last resort solution for yyour dog would be to get another dog. Dogs are not stupid animals, they are social creatures and if she can't interact with you she could have something else to interact with. It worked wonders for all of our dogs. The biggest benefit is if you have her set the example of what to do, training the new one will be easier.

  • Hey Dan. I only just saw your vids, lead here by charlieissocoollike on youtubillionare. But all I can say is, I really respect you for attempting Dan 3.0..... It must have been hard, and I only really saw Dan 3.0 , I just don't have time to watch your life on youtube so far, but well done. Your a nice guy you know, and I'd just like to say, thankyou. You've really inspired vloggers , and I think it's really dedicated of you to do that. From an English Person in England.

  • thay can live to few weeks the 24 h is a myth

  • If the title was a binary joke Dan, it should only be 10, not 100.

  • @theryann222

    /whoosh

  • this was a very interesting video!

  • I'm just really disapointed that you squished the fly =(

  • @StargirllLauren get over it, its a fly theres a trillion more just like it

  • @StargirllLauren Gef didn't deserve to die...

  • @StargirllLauren flies spread disease and kill people sometimes even children.

  • @StargirllLauren dont tell me youve never killed any tiny insects in ur lifetime..

  • The Humane Society advises owners of dogs with separation anxiety: Don't make a big deal out of arrivals and departures. For example, when you arrive home, ignore your dog for the first few minutes then calmly pet him. Leave your dog with an article of clothing that smells like you, such as an old T-shirt that you've slept in recently. Establish a safety cue—a word or action that you use every time you leave that tells your dog you'll be back. Consider using an over-the-counter calming product

  • This is an odd phenomenon, but dogs seem to sense when their loved ones are near home. I don't know how it happens but whenever my Mum is out, about two minutes before she gets home my two dogs run around barking like mad.

  • I like your hair :)

  • ohmygoodness the cleverness of this title...i love it. =D

  • I never thought of that but its really stange to think about :)

  • one thing we do for our dog is put an article of clothing that someone has worn near the door, and so whenever we are away, and she comes to the door, she hopefully smells us and calms down

  • @Empororzod at first I though you were zed, so I would worship and agree with you, but you are imposter zed, so I strongly despise you.

  • So, yea. Your dog is annoying....

    Hum?...Turn on some music?

My friends kennel had a radio that always turned on at dark. For some reason the dogs liked it.

  • wait, do people actually use cosmic panda??

  • Adult: Once the adult house fly hatches from the pupal stage, it has an approximate life span of 15 to 30 days. Females are able to start producing eggs after two days of life and will continue to lay eggs for about a month.

  • I'm still trying to understand the moral here. :(

  • I think Ani is the cutest dog ever. :3

  • Time Jumps on the clock.

  • East coast Earthquake...

  • Dan, did you think about just moving to another section of the coffee shop to avoid the flies?

  • wait wait...did I miss something? did Dan move somewhere permanently? I knew he left San fran and was back in Nebraska...but where exactly is he, Brownies?

  • easy. get an other dog.

  • You're amazing.

  • Dear Youtube followers: I have no idea how to train a dog and never bothered to learn. I don't know who Cesar Milan is. Sincerely, Dan Brown P.S. House flies only live a day even though it takes longer than that for them to mature enough to mate. Please explain.

  • Talk about college.

  • @MKarvat He did talk about college. Search for An open letter to educators. It was a really big thing :)

  • Hahaha I like how one of the tags is handsome

  • Awww Ani is so adorable! My dog does the same thing whenever I come home from school. Try telling her to go find a toy, and play with her after she settles down. Usually works for me.

  • the top comments are so trollllllllerrrrrrrrrr

  • i just noticed this is a "responce" to 99 problems-JayZ

  • i have no clue.

  • Watch the dog whisperer AND LEARN SUCKUH!

  • So, Dan, if you really wan't to know does Ani bark all the time when you are gone just put your camera (-s if you got many) to record what Ani is doing, and leave for like an hour or something depending on how long your camera(s) can record. AND show it to US!

  • Hmmm... my puppy used to do that but I just ignored her and she stopped.

  • Dogs don't have a sense of time.

  • taking her for a half hour walk every day will help as well!

  • its separation anxiety. my dog really calms down when i use rescue remedy. you can buy it at most health food stores or online. i recommend the spray pump kind not the dropper bottle. my dog is small like yours so i would pump one spray on her nozzle before you leave & one right when you get home. REALLY HELPS!

  • eat the dog

  • passions back!

  • lol :D

  • make a video about Trollin or trollers!

  • hahahahahaa your sense of humor is exactly like mine you crack me up.

  • I think you should do some recon first. Set up the camera and record her while you are away and see how long she throws a fit or if she does at all. I did the same thing because one of my dogs would pitch a royal fit when I walked around the block but when I went to work she didn't make a peep. Research has shown that dogs can be well aware of there owners returning with out any obvious cues.

  • Im cruel to animals. im cruel to every animal. even humans. though i usually don't squash humans..

whatever animal who is creepy and small enough and slow enough, i'll kill. if it is in my room that is ^^

  • Make a voice recording of you saying her name and play it whenever your gone. Maybe just hearing your voice will calm her down a bit while your gone. Also, when you greet her, don't use a high pitched squeal-y voice. That'll only get her more excited.

  • techno

  • I would suggest another dog. Canines have a pack mentality

  • Awesome. Really liked this one, Dan.

  • Wow, flies... I never stood still about how time means something different to every kind of living thing on the planet. Also, you might wanna go to dog school if possible. And watch some shows of Cesar Milan's dog whispering

  • You killed a fly.. wtf, man.

  • Loved this video!

  • Things that I may not have thought on my own. Thanks Dan! :)

  • This was the Dan Brown I subscribed to!

  • It's called separation anxiety, a couple of pointers. If the dog jumps your legs like in the video, turn away from it and ignore the dog. In general giving attention to the dog when returning is a bad idea.

But doing a little reading on dog psychology and pack leadership would probably be a good idea.

  • You could turn the radio on when you are out so your dog doesn't feel alone.

However since it might be responding to human presence with the barking that might just make it bark for the entire duration of your time away. This one is a doosey.

  • watch the dog whisperer bro.

  • i'm pretty sure your dog doesn't bark the whole entire periods of time that you're gone. i think she may bark when she senses human presence or maybe even a familiar smell. when my dog was alive and we would come home he would immediately start barking as we entered the foyer ( and we lived on the second floor of an apartment in park slope so there was a good amount of distance and he could still hear that someone had entered the building).

  • @tehchickster but then again it is likely that your apartment window is near a sidewalk and many people pass so she could be barking constantly.... in which case i really shouldn't have typed all of this :(

but i find you entertaining so it was worth it. :)

  • your videos have gotten really boring.

  • Hey man, I was watching your blog and then i was drawn to wikipedia to read on flies and i got that:

The adult flies then emerge from the pupae. (This whole cycle is known as complete metamorphosis.) The adults live from two weeks to a month in the wild, or longer in benign laboratory conditions. (wikipedia on Housefly)

  • did you wash your arm after? since flies puke on things...yukky!

  • solution: get another dog! if a dog has a companion than they will be less dependent on you- simple as tht

  • so thats really what this video was all about?!? lol

  • I don't think she will stop doing that every time you arrive home. I have my dog for 8 years and he always jumps around and that when someone arrives. He also barks when we're leaving but he eventually stops. We talk with him softly saying for him to calm down and to not make so much noise and pet him. It works with him.
