I just noticed, you removed the antenna contact on this video, but in your online guide, you don't even mention it? so is it okay not to remove it anymore or do you have to remove the antenna contact to be able to remove the battery?
@ifixityourself what's a good test to see if I should replace the battery? I've been on for a 1/2 hour and already I'm down to 89%. On wi-fi, I read some email. Checked FB and viewed this vid and a couple others. Also, I had the phone charging all night, which I never do. Forgot to turn the battery alert app back on after checking my last email before going to sleep.
I dropped my iPhone 4 a few days ago and it's having issues starting up. I can't confirm what the problem is, but it will not turn on, and when I connect it to my computer, it will begin to start up but then quit. I'm unsure if it's a battery issue or something worse. Should I try to replace the battery? Also, will replacing the battery affect any of the data on my iPhone?
Does anyone know how long these batteries last before it starts to charge less than its original maximum capacity? I've had mine for about 7 months and use on average 2-4 hours a day of talk/app usage.
@izeezation You could take it to someone who is skilled at soldering and have them re-solder the connector, but it sounds like you're looking at buying a new logic board. Personally, because the logic board is kind of pricey (almost as much as buying the phone at the no-commitment price), I'd sell all the usable components (front and rear panel, battery) on Craigslist or Ebay and use the cash to buy a new iPhone. Sorry! <3 mj
I took it to a shop to solder the connectors but they couldn't figure out the reboot problem. It still doesn't charge & reboots like crazy! I tried disassembling it again to resell the white parts, but the logic board is stuck?!? So, I guess I'll contact apple & see if there's any hope to fix/replace it out of warrantee. If nothing works then I'll have to sell the parts & wait for iPhone 5. I learned my lesson T.T
Only problem with this is, that these spare batteries have a date of expire as well. So the day i will have to change my battery i will also have to buy a new fresh spare battery and since Apple deliberately changes almost everything on the next gen of their producst, i might not find one, because they went out of production. I mean a rechargable battery lasts about 1000-1500 recharge cycles, or roughly 2 years in which case this device is pretty much stone age by mobile phone standards.

I wonder how much a new original battery cost? And when I say originial it means a battery produced by apple.
