Having a sea of people go mental to a song I wrote would fuck with my brain. I wouldn't be able to deal with that much praise. Anything after that performance would be a massive downer.
Why couldnt Layne think of this concert everytime he thought about ending his life (I totally understand its alot more complicated than that) but its not like A.I.C. were washed up in any way.I no Demris deth had alot to do with it.But man what a comeback that would have been.Jerry seems to usely play the solo the same way every time,at least thats what ive noticed.
@DARRINCONNOR1 I agree. AIC will be with me 'til the last breath I take......they could've been the next Van Halen, Metallica, Pearl Jam....I'm happy I got to see them open for OZZY back in '92.......... peace+love2all.......
This appears to be the greatest rocknroll show in the history of the world, Save me. I even see Layne just laughing about the reaction and how they are like going wild. I think it influenced some changes in the song. The solo is note for note off the MTV cut. In the lead to the last Chorus Layne says "one more time guys" he loves to rock.
@USACCARTIRL Yeah, I saw this show on vhs tape like 15 yr's ago and it blew me away and I had not seen it since. Just the crowd reaction is freaking unbelievable the stomping up& down must've shook that stadium. The great thing about the vhs recording was that it showed the song before Man In A Box just slightly play into man in a box( chill's man). If you check out the video "byAliceInChains" here on youtube the one wit only 6,413 view it's much better quality and show's more of the intro.
lo mejoooooooooor!!! me da escalofrios escuchar al publico!! definitivamente los latinos -sobre todo los brazileños- son unos duros ! yeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaahhh (Y)
That was a very god gig, in a extinct festival named "Hollywood Rock", sponsored by a cigarette company. The crowd was astonishing, but, in fact, wasn´t a "brazilian metal scene".
It was a festival with the bands that, at these time, were in the top (Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Living Colour). So, the crowd knew the songs from radio, not because was a metal band.
Brazilian scene still underground, with a lot of difficulties, but always with good bands that keep on metal.
fucking goosebumps wen I see this video. The throngs of people just jumping up & down rocking to this crazy ass thump and singing along fucking unreal I even feel the stadium shaking. AIC must've blown away the other bands away with this performance. One of my biggest sadness not being able to see them when I could have. Dam it!!!
Wow, it really makes me happy to see so thousands of people giving Alice In Chains the respect they truly deserve. Thanks for uploading this awesome very great video :)!!
In other countries people think Brazil is the only pretty woman, beaches, football and carnival, but this is wrong, there are many rockers in Brazil, so that all concerts of rock bands embodied fill stadiums here, and certainly the public of Brazil is one of the best audiences in the world of rock, which more shake, jump, scream and are real fans

nunca mais haverá algo parecido, nossa, to realmente surpreso e embasbacado com esse vídeo. vi que o brasil não é tão ruim assim, pelo menos no passado!
a galera que tava ai realmente fez um show a parte. demais
No surprise at all! Brasilians are the happiest people i ever know! this is nothing, If you go to the MARACANA stadium you'll die! Saludos desde central ,PA. MOTO BOM DIA!
Jerry sang his heart out during the Tribute Song "Black Gives Way To Blue" in memory of his friend Layne last Friday night a the Key Arena in Seattle, it wan an amazing performance and the entire concert was recorded in 3D for an upcoming DVD that will be out sometime next year but you can check out my channel for live footage that I recorded.... Check it out!!.. RIP Layne!!..
Crowds aren't what they used to be these days. It would be nice if people were like these people in the crowd in today's concerts. People barely move anymore and the crowds are just emo and depressing.
Rio is THE BEST CITY to have a concert... crowd is awesome, all the time, being in the sun or in the rain... That video was in 93, but just check more recent videos of other shows, like Rock 'n Rio in 2001, or others... all of them ROCK!!! Glad to live here!!!!!!!! :DDDDDDD
@heldersekiguchi it truly was, now a days only the people near the front jump and go crazy. 90's were the best, because EVERYONE jumped and went crazy :)
@Spartan243742 i don't think it was so much the 90's as it was being in rio. those people love their rock and roll. like another comment said, we should be ashamed we don't see that here.
This crowd is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than a WWE crowd. 98% of the WWE crowd these days are like a heard of sheep taking a nap.
Rio de Janeiro is a city famous not only for the beaches, mountains, forest and Carnival. This city has the most amazing people and impressive lifestyle. It's like the whole Carioca ( born in Rio ) population is in party all the time. No wonder Rolling Stones, Rush and others gave the best show on their careers in Rio ...
man, brazillians are really something. I didnt know they were so intense about rock. I've only known rio as having a beach culture of people that liked to spend time at the beach wearing skimpy swimwear. I thought they only liked music with a more sexual beat. They've shown me another side of them. I'm impressed, I'm thunderstruck. how's the rest of the metal scene over there?
@horizon327 dude !!!! SEPULTURA, SOULFLY, ANGRA and some smalller bands not famous worldwide.....Anyway, the first two are more than enough .... CHEERS !!
@horizon327 Haha, we love rock'n'roll just like we love brazillian music. The metal scene over here is pretty good, actually. It's not as big as it is in USA or in european countries, but we've got good bands, like Matanza as an example.
@horizon327 Hi horizon! I´m from Brazil and we love rock n´roll! The crowd is something unbeliavable! All concerts usually fill up. The metal scene is strong. Always has great shows. The next big festival will be Rock in Rio 4 in late September 2011 (confirmed: Metallica, Motorhead, Chili Pepers, etc.).
@horizon327 hey gooid fella, I'm brazilian also, and I can say for , the metal scene like you said, the grunge , the rock'nroll, (classics until actually) a lot of brazilians like to listen , and when we have big concerts like this one, everybody would like to be more near possible of your favourite band, but really, there is that another kind of brasilians that you said, some guys prefer to spend then time in the beach wearing skimpy swimwear..... hugs fella!!!
@horizon327 : I´m from Brazil. Man by the time of this festival, MTV recently was arrived in Brazil, everybody was crazy on Nirvana, Soudgarden, AIC and Pearl Jam. We really like rock´nroll and metal. For me, watching this by tv opened my eyes, I was kinda 13 years old and watched this shows with man oldman, also played Nirvana, L7 and the Chilli Peppers this year !!! Nowadays, a lot of rock and metal bands get to brazil to record their Live DVD´s, cos the crowd is insane !! Be cool !
quem me dera viver nos anos 90, tenho raiva disso toda vez que penso
o ultimo disco de rock foi lançado em 99 californication do rhcp, foi a despedida!

:DDDDDDD

90s was the best decade ever
heldersekiguchi 1 year ago
@heldersekiguchi it truly was, now a days only the people near the front jump and go crazy. 90's were the best, because EVERYONE jumped and went crazy :)
proof is this video :P
Spartan243742 1 year ago
@Spartan243742 i don't think it was so much the 90's as it was being in rio. those people love their rock and roll. like another comment said, we should be ashamed we don't see that here.

Rio de Janeiro is a city famous not only for the beaches, mountains, forest and Carnival. This city has the most amazing people and impressive lifestyle. It's like the whole Carioca ( born in Rio ) population is in party all the time. No wonder Rolling Stones, Rush and others gave the best show on their careers in Rio ...
riotribunal 1 year ago 2
man, brazillians are really something. I didnt know they were so intense about rock. I've only known rio as having a beach culture of people that liked to spend time at the beach wearing skimpy swimwear. I thought they only liked music with a more sexual beat. They've shown me another side of them. I'm impressed, I'm thunderstruck. how's the rest of the metal scene over there?
horizon327 1 year ago 30
@horizon327 dude !!!! SEPULTURA, SOULFLY, ANGRA and some smalller bands not famous worldwide.....Anyway, the first two are more than enough .... CHEERS !!
Zacharius666 1 year ago
@horizon327, They have the best crowds in the world hands down.
PureRecklessness 1 year ago
@horizon327 Haha, we love rock'n'roll just like we love brazillian music. The metal scene over here is pretty good, actually. It's not as big as it is in USA or in european countries, but we've got good bands, like Matanza as an example.
NynLSB 1 year ago
@horizon327 Hi horizon! I´m from Brazil and we love rock n´roll! The crowd is something unbeliavable! All concerts usually fill up. The metal scene is strong. Always has great shows. The next big festival will be Rock in Rio 4 in late September 2011 (confirmed: Metallica, Motorhead, Chili Pepers, etc.).

wow u have just show how ignorant and oblivious u are
bigmaxuu 1 year ago
@horizon327 hey gooid fella, I'm brazilian also, and I can say for , the metal scene like you said, the grunge , the rock'nroll, (classics until actually) a lot of brazilians like to listen , and when we have big concerts like this one, everybody would like to be more near possible of your favourite band, but really, there is that another kind of brasilians that you said, some guys prefer to spend then time in the beach wearing skimpy swimwear..... hugs fella!!!
pedrinhocomtequila 1 year ago
@horizon327 : I´m from Brazil. Man by the time of this festival, MTV recently was arrived in Brazil, everybody was crazy on Nirvana, Soudgarden, AIC and Pearl Jam. We really like rock´nroll and metal. For me, watching this by tv opened my eyes, I was kinda 13 years old and watched this shows with man oldman, also played Nirvana, L7 and the Chilli Peppers this year !!! Nowadays, a lot of rock and metal bands get to brazil to record their Live DVD´s, cos the crowd is insane !! Be cool !

@horizon327 SEPULTURA.
oasisforever00 1 year ago
@horizon327 um hello... every heard of Sepultura? brazillian and were MASSIVE over there in the 90s.
Don't think the rock/metal scene over there is as big as it was in the 90's now though.

@horizon327 Sepultura and Soulfly are from brasil..dont forget about that!
