Whooaa! Hold up here, Mister. Alright. Just wanted to let you know that was probably some of the absolute best playing I've ever heard. You are so lucky to have that kinda talent. Carry on my good man and God bless.
Thanks a lot. I sometimes wonder about the luck and talent part, having spent a zillion hours working at this and still not being able to make much of a living at it. But... at this age, it's not just something I like to do, it's turned into who I am. I would be smart to take up selling shoes for a living, but who can turn their back on music and the guitar? I just keep plugging away, just as if it made a difference. Sure nice to hear from folks sometimes who think it's worthwhile! - John
@johnstandefer LOL I kept plugging away for years too and never even had the satisfaction of being able to play worth a damn. You have a great smooth easy style. Keep pickin!
@johnstandefer Ha! I don't know about that, Mr Standefer. The timbre of your speaking voice is pretty smooth. I'm willing to be you could croon with the best of them. If you are ever in Sydney, let's have a jam!
OMG do you have tabs for this john? i loved this you remind me of my grandfather exept he was a gretch guy didnt like acoustics i like acoustics more.
@trainmasterxxx Yep, I have a whole video class with TAB that I taught on this arrangement. It's on the store page at my site. Thanks for the nice words... JS
The video of Man of Constant Sorrow was captured by a microphone that is just barely out of the camera's view off my right knee - no pickup at all. I generally use pickups for live performances and mics for recording, although I used both the Baggs and a mic on the new Christmas CD (and it's tough to tell which is which!). - John
Aghh...watching this guy play makes me realize that life just isn't fair. So friggin good!

Why learn how to sing when you can just do the bass, rhythm guitar and melodic lines all at once? Great video.

@fuciledacaccia It's a Larrivee LV-10 that I won at Winfield. Really similar to yours and certainly a nice axe...
