The music was composed by Alan Thicke. He was instructed to make it sound like Hawaii 5-0. I pulled cue cards and ran the money volcano. Very first winning contestant was a woman in a Mumu. When I turned the money Volcano on, the Mumu went over her head and she wasn't wearing any underwear. The show was shut down until we found her a jumpsuit. We shot it at what was then called "Del Web's Kuilima Resort". Now Its "The Turtle Bay Resort". Aloha!
I was one of the contestants on the show. Bob Eubanks made the comment on air that if I was any shorter I would need a step stool to look over the tiki. lol
Do you happen to know where I can get a copy of that episode? I did win a dishwasher and trash compactor, but flopped at the next level. Aloha
If you know the Show number, like Show 76-012, it would help. Do you have any paperwork left?? Did you lose out on the Steps up to Diamond Head???Fishman-Freer Productions and Columbia might have copies, long shot though. Good Luck. Riley
It definately has that Hawaiian feel to it. It will have you dancing through the start of the game. To be the only game show to tape entirely in Hawaii, it needed to have a Hawaiian theme to it. While the rest of the game might not have been so hot the theme was good. It also seems it took inspiration from Magnum PI's opening. All in all, this theme was pretty good and fit in well with the show that's selling point is it's location. This music gets 4 stars.
A correction: the series actually aired in daily syndication (here in NY, it aired at 4:30 PM on WNBC, right after Somerset).

OMG, I so remember that show when I was kid. My wife and I were also married at the base of Diamond Head in 1986. We visit there often.

@whatcomskagit Fishman-Freer is dead, I think. I don't think Sony's shown the DHG in a while.
