I remember this group! I always used to get them mixed up with The Standells of Dirty Water fame. When I first heard this I thought it was an early Paul Revere and the Raiders track. LOL
@rhythmantic Although I do like The Monkees version, I thought the Raiders really had that rockin rebellious edge with Mark Lindsay's snarling vocals, while Mickey Dolenz seemed more like cake and ice cream with chocolate syrup just to be on the wild side. LOL
Wow !! What a great cover Sal. Spot on. I liked the quick ride beat. Were those 1/16 notes? Your fills on the cover are terriffic and really shows how dynamic the drumming is in this song. Very precise....This tune really epitomises the rock sound of the '60's...Nice !!!!!!
@readyeddy101 Thanks Nick, appreciate you well-informed critique. Yes, correct, the ride is a dotted 16th note pattern - the 1st and 4th notes played. You've heard this song before, have you? It was played on East Coast radio stations. I still have the single. Thanks. It's one of those covers after hearing it awhile I see where I could've done a better job of playing the exact fills as on the record,...oh well, that's the way it goes. Got more one hit wonders coming up.
@rhythmantic Oh yeah. I remember this tune from the '60. Always liked it. You did awesome on it. You drummed it like you were the studio drummer. Maybe better. You had the fell of the song throughout. A great video for anyone to learn to drum the song.
@guitardds Well, that's part of why I'm here...to turn folks on to music that is good but may be obscure. I have a few other bands who were "one-hit-wonders" in the 60s that I will be covering: The Count 5, and The Music Machine which were very interesting songs drumistically. and otherwise.
I love this sound Sal, sounding tops !!!

@rhythmantic I say "Kicks", that was some pretty grungy rock for it's time!! Have you heard the Raiders original version of "Steppin' Stone"?
SQDLVR 4 weeks ago
@SQDLVR Yea, Kicks. Yes, Steppin' Stone is happening, probably will cover that too

Awesome Sal. Have to have to admit, I've never heard this song before. Vocals a bit like Lou Reed. Love the energy.
