Miss, you have absolutely no understanding of the public school system. In order to register in a school system, you MUST first prove that you reside in the district. The only other way to enroll in a school outside your district is through a magnet transfer, and that is only for specified magnet schools. Also, the No Child Left Behind laws DO NOT lay down specific instructions for enrollment. Those are left to the states, since the school system operates under state funding (NOT Federal).

Mountain Brook is a privately taxed community, yes it is a public school, but there are regulations. You pay property taxes, and those go towards the school. Without owning any property, or paying for those taxes you are not allowed to go to this school, homeless or not. Our staff did nothing to you as you ignored everything they were trying to tell you. @thamrick86 After Belinda Treadwell refused to enroll the children and instantly and called the school board, I knew automatically there was going to be some kind of illegal activity or infraction of the law. If you notice, the video ONLY started after I was complaining about what I was told about the "notarized," statement. I had a brief meeting with her the office and when I came out, I told my daughter to begin videotaping with her Christmas camera. I think she did a good job.

Did you notice that I kept asking if it were a PRIVATE school opposed to a PUBLIC? Church of the Highlands is now on their 10th year, with their own complex, and they have around 10,000 people a weekend visit their campus. How is that hating God? For years, this school has been a meeting place for up and starting churches. They support outreach activities and have built homes with Habitat for Humanity every year.

@crobar982 I did my own research and it looks like to me they are receiving "state" funding. Nevertheless, I want my money. Miss, you have absolutely no understanding of the public school system. In order to register in a school system, you MUST first prove that you reside in the district. The only other way to enroll in a school outside your district is through a magnet transfer, and that is only for specified magnet schools. Also, the No Child Left Behind laws DO NOT lay down specific instructions for enrollment. Those are left to the states, since the school system operates under state funding (NOT Federal).

@jfer205 at that point, I didn't have to continue to tell him anything else. I had produced my hotel receipt, but I didn't have to do that when I read the law later. They continue to attempt to place us in one of the 11 district school in which they felt I should be placed contrary to the law which states that it was their duty to accept the children and that the children have access to the PUBLIC school. The "homeless" category was already established and I wanted to enroll.

Mountain Brook is a privately taxed community, yes it is a public school, but there are regulations. You pay property taxes, and those go towards the school. Without owning any property, or paying for those taxes you are not allowed to go to this school, homeless or not. Our staff did nothing to you as you ignored everything they were trying to tell you. If you notice, the video ONLY started after I was complaining about what I was told about the "notarized," statement. I had a brief meeting with her the office and when I came out, I told my daughter to begin videotaping with her Christmas camera. I think she did a good job.

@ZeppelinFan29 my daughter received a professional camera for Christmas. Being a masterful litigator in constitutional law, I was abreast of the Federal laws. Did you notice that I kept asking if it were a PRIVATE school opposed to a PUBLIC? I was attempting to identify if there were constitutional law infractions when they refused to enroll my child IMMEDIATELY. I knew that I could not be banned from a PUBLIC school to enroll my children.

@nancepn I don't see any kind of "stereotypes," here in this video. I see an intelligent BLACK woman with well dressed and clean children attempting to merely enroll her children in a PUBLIC school setting without the red tape. I see a woman who is very articulate and abreast of the law and who is not allowing a bunch of criminals to violate her rights. I don't see anything "stereotypical" in this video about blacks, but maybe White-Collar-Criminals who refuse to obey the law.

You call yourself a woman of God, then how about you start acting like one. It is clear you must have proof of residency to enroll your children into Mountain Brook Schools, so if your family were with in the city limits then I do not see what the problem would be with providing such a simple piece of information. Having attended Mtn. Brook Schools for my entire school education, I can personal say that each of these men are men of integrity and come highly respected in our community.

@MBalum517 if you would watch the video, you will see that Dale Wisely asked if I EITHER had a residence in Mountain Brook or if I were under the "homeless," stipulation. I told him, I must be in the "homeless" category (to paraphrase). He confirmed that I was in this "homeless," category in which the LAW states that I don't have to produce NOT ONE "simple" piece of information. Contrary to what you are saying here. They are not men of integrity.

I had to file for proof of residency to enroll in school when I moved to town. I think it is disgusting that you are teaching your child how to make a quick buck. Why are you homeless? What do are you trained to do for a living? Obviously you are not successful as a preacher, or you would not be in the situation you are in.

@michaelh95 you don't have to file a proof of "residency," if you are in the category of being "homeless." If one is living in a hotel and not have a permanent residence in the area, he or she is automatically considered to be "homeless." I was also surprised that I was placed into that category. I am trained by GOD to preach the gospel and in litigation as an "ATTORNEY PRO SE."

I rebuke you! They do not hate God! Did you know this school is responsible for hosting one of the fastest growing churches in the United States. Church of the Highlands is now on their 10th year, with their own complex, and they have around 10,000 people a weekend visit their campus. How is that hating God? For years, this school has been a meeting place for up and starting churches. They support outreach activities and have built homes with Habitat for Humanity every year.

All you are accomplishing through this video is upsetting and putting off people who need to hear the word. Because you identified yourself as a preacher of the word of God, more people, especially the people affected by this video will equate your intolerable actions with the of Jesus and that is unacceptable.

It might be just me, but as a graduate of this high school, I see this video as a waste of time. Clearly, the way this video is filmed is inadmissable in court. Good job on that first of all. Second of all, protocol in school should be followed. Maybe if you had not been so ridiculous and provocative in your manner then maybe the help would have been given. @crobar982 I did my own research and it looks like to me they are receiving "state" funding. Nevertheless, I want my money. The video and the public rebuke and humiliation is satisfying enough, but we need our damages for embarrassment, humiliation, anguish, INTENTIONAL INFLICTION OF EMOTIONAL DISTRESS. mountain brook is a public school, but instead of being funded by the federal government. instead, it is funded by property taxes, meaning you must be a resident and pay property taxes to be considered for enrollment. The fact that this woman also had her son carry in a camera to videotape this. She is obviously just trying to play the race card and draw attention to herself. This makes me sick

@pryanwall Mountain Brook has to follow federal laws, too. The 14th Amendment applies to the Mountain Brook Schools. Why do you think we have this amendment? The white racist bigots were eliminating black people under the disguise of they were not subject to the federal laws, but only local state laws. They kicked blacks out of restaurants, etc. If a person is "homeless" in the area, he or she has the right to register for the school of their choice which beats the system.
