the reason rugby got popular over in the northern hemisphere, he put it on the map.. and New Zealand have been showing us how its done ever since. Thank you New Zealand for introducing me to the game. And introducing me to once were warriors damn that was a habit when i was a kid .love from Scotland
When people say Jonah Lomu is Tongan they don't mean he was BORN in Tonga cause we all knoe he was born in NZ durr @_@ they're just implying that he's of Tongan'descent :D
Apart from speed and ability to plow through anything, it was the strength to immediately get up again after being knocked down or power through any trips or stumbles. He must have been super humanly strong like machine.
tongans are the most powerful ppl in the world if only they give up piss and live a more healthy lifestyle. I grew up with them they have the explosive power in them growing watching Jonah was he best thing
i watched the game with the thought that england at that time had one of the best teams , i cried with pain as we got destroyed but by god i was glad i saw such a magnificent player , my hat goes off to the power and awe that is Jonah Lomu
alot people say that if Jonah played in today's age he wouldn't be that gd as many players and wingers are not far from his size, however imagine if Jonah had been doin the same strength and conditioning programmes today's pro'd did, he would be even bigger, stronger and faster, he would still be as effective, both physically and mentally
no samoan player fijian player or tongan player would be as big as jonah.and yea brian lima hit jonah.but how many times has he run over lima hha.jonahs has been hit by heaps by of players.blind side hits and all that.but no player ever tackld him when he was in full flight.lima never tackled him in full flight.got put on his ass like 50 times.hha.
great player and a nice guy, but it only really lasted for 1-2 years max, after that everyone have worked out how to stop him, and aprt from his running and aggression, the rest of his game wasnt that good :S
I don't understand this video at all.... Why is their footage of the 2003 rugby world cup all blacks doing the haka, when lomu wasn't apart of that team. I don't know if this video is about lomu or not????
can someone put up the manu samoa test with the all blacks in 1998 and see what happen to the "most powerfull player," in that game. this powerful player was playin hide n seek from Brian Lima. Belive me its true if anione can put it up or just have a lok at it yourself...its funny coz no one uploads it coz its totally a differnt story yes it is the truth...Sumtime I thougt abut that tv show calld THE LOST TAPES
@mystyJoel Yeah well they don't call Brian Lima the chiropractor for nothing. That was a good game back in 1996 with the All Blacks vs Samoa game. But yeah I remember watching the game and Lima tackled Lomu front on and left him on his backside! we were excited lol. I think he's over-rated too.
@ninjabastard2 I think you may be right.Jonah was influential because his size, speed and strength were unmatched during his time but rugby players have really bulked up in the last decade and there are so many Lomu-like players now. If Nonu, SBW or even Hosea Gear played during the 90's with the form they are now, they would've been just as big if not bigger names then Lomu.
@givemethelotion He had Kidney issues all his life so specifically avoided all performance enhancements, including the legal "Creatine" that many rugby athletes were using at this time (and still use)
I've only been playing the game of rugby for 3 years (since my junior year in high school), and I've been hooked ever since. I was also told by one of my ex-teammates that I reminded him of Jonah Lomu with my running style & size, so I searched him up,and needless to say, it's a great honor to have ever be mentioned in the same breath as such a runner!

He had a build of a brick wall, supreme strength, sheer power and lightning pace. He also towered above his opponents. "A bull in a china shop" was like watching him play, just how he destroyed teams. Thanks for the memories Jonah.......

I am an english rugby fan but I still watch his 4 tries against us in the 1995 world cup. It shows how talented and gifted he was, even as a young player he was already a club and country rugby legend. The phrase "Impossible is Nothing" has been brought to life. He had a build of a brick wall, supreme strength, sheer power and lightning pace. He also towered above his opponents. "A bull in a china shop" was like watching him play, just how he destroyed teams. Thanks for the memories Jonah.......
