you mentioned that it's up to us to be able to either drive or shoot. My shot is just around average, but my driving skills are next to zero. What are drills and exercises I can practise to improve my ability to get to the basket??
By the way, I've purchased your vertical jump manual quite a while, and i've just started, i'm super excited! Thank you so much for your help.
@MrAddddyyy We have many videos on our channel for you to use to learn to attack the basket. Check them out. We are pleased to hear that you have the V.J. Handbok. Please let us know how it is going after the first 4 weeks.
What i love about the jump handbook is that u guys dont really care about making money. You care, but other handbooks sell for $50, but u sell for only 4 dollars Thanks a lot
@samxyx Well we are not into full length videos on any topic. That is not what we do. We will, however be adding the defensive elements as we go along and you can put them together.
@doodlehead94 we'd probably have to see a demonstration of what you're talking about. On pump fakes, you don't want to be in motion or in the middle of taking steps. You'll get called every time. It's a stationary fake that gets the defender up in the air or off balance and then you can go by them.
lol im just a slasher, im good at mid range, free throws, but i cant make 3point shot, becouse i cant get my legs into the shooting. And its not that bad to be just a slasher, by the way im a smallest point guard on the team but quickest, and when i drive to the basket, i blow by my defender and help comes to me and they try to block my shot, that means his man is open and thats how i get lots of assits, if no help - easy score.
@sudzius9 that's great, but we ALWAYS encourage players to develop a very well-rounded game. The more options you have, the deadlier you'll be. Work on your shot! Getting your legs into it is really more of you telling yourself to do it and working on that a TON!
Hey shotscience how do you know which way to go by if they are playing you tight? Left or right? From what I've gathered always attack the leading foot... Is this correct? Or do you have any other suggestions? Thx shortscience!
@jyap9675 You can attack with either foot. It makes no difference, BUT make sure that you go Hip-to-Hip with them when you attack. This can cause them to foul you on your drive.
When i play 1 on 1 it is a wonder.I can shoot,dribble and finish.But when i play 2 on 1(me) or more i cannot shoot and finish well.Whats the trouble ?
As a defensive player, I absolutely hate guarding close at the outside-mid area.. I just kinda go side by them when they start dribbling, cos Im skinny and not that powerful to stop them!
So mid defense is best for me cos I can reach and put pressure on the ball, and Im also read for any drives etc. If they shoot, Ill jump and wave my hand or do something distracting like stomp my foot as i reach forward etc
Wonderful tip guys, even tho' I know I have a lot of work to do with my shoot and drives I'm going to use this tonight thank you!
Also put up the Medium pressure tips because I am not to sure what to do when someone is guarding me with medium pressre and I'm not in the triple treat position.
@HeroDelta Well we refer to this TT position as Catch and Address! In other words we catch the ball and we are ready to shoot it first. If it's not there we choose one of the other two choices. If the have medium pressure y0u could use the Jab Step to create an opening.
Aye, please do a med defense. It's used a lot. I assume shot-fake to bring them in then go by or jab step then pull up. Anything else work good for med defense?
@77smeagol Yep, it's a little less clear, which is why we thought it was a little more than a tip. You're definitely on the right track with the shot fake and jab step though!
kobe does this well too reading the guy whos on him.......... oh yeah and shotscience you should make a full length vid of all three it would help. :)
i hate medium defense because its hard to explode by, i work on my speed as a track athlete but its still hard to just blow by or use a cross. i have an amazing shot but i dont want to just shoot if i dont have enough space or something
@ndnplaya36 yep, that medium pressure is a little less clear. Try using our videos on the "Shot Fake" and the "Jab Step." Those should help you get them to bite a little and then go by them. Good LUCK!!
@MightyMices Well if they use a staggered stance instead of a "Square-up Stance" the common method that is taught is to attack the fot closest to you. In reality, if you were to use our "Long-One-n-One Attack" you can go either way. Check out our video on this attack.
@Denielgunz Well, we would like to offer such a video, but our focus is on all the parts of basketball. We will continue to follow this formula and include defensive information in a smaller format. We hope you will continue to watch our videos as we appreciate your comment and interest.
What about if the defender is forcing you one way. Also when do u freeze the defense and step back and when do you create space with a crossover or in&out etc. Also when you blow past your offender what are tips for finshing without getting blocked from behind?
@davidkisiel23 In reality, you cannot place a day count on your improvement in ball handling. If you work on it every day for at least 1/2-1 to hour you will be surprised how quickly you improve. It is all about spending the time to practice and make sure you are practicing good fundamental skills. Check our videos for some ideas.
@Mojoe12321 We have pretty much dedicated our efforts to breaking down the game of basketball into short videos and will not be doing any full ones. Thanks for your interest and we hope you will stay with us on our channel in the future.
@tpainfan689 it was just a couple weeks and we had done a TON in one week just before that! We made a video on making the school team. It's called "MAKE THE TEAM." We have over 80 videos, so you should have a lot to work on between our videos. We'll be putting out videos every week though ;-)
I'm 13 and am not confident in my 3pt and that is where we run our offense, from outside the 3pt line so if they are saging off I don't want to shoot cos I'm sure I will miss but I can't drive because there ready. Should I do a dribble pull up or what? Please help me on what I can do and great vid I have watched every single one... :)
@nicksjustchillin you HAVE to work on your shooting and shooting confidence. It's that simple. If they can, the defense will play to your weakness. If they know that you're not going to shoot the long shot, they'll play off and let you have it while shutting down your drive. You have to get your shot going so that they HAVE to respect your shooting abilities. That will put them in a situation where they have to play you halfway on everything and you'll have the advantage. GET TO WORK, Nick!!!
@UrielJanoach yep, but sometimes it's better to have it laid out so that you know why and then you can work more easily on the how! Thanks for watching!!
I watched your video since 2009, when I was 14 years old ......and I am now 17 years old. Three years it has been passed, and in three years, all your videos that i watched has helped me play basketball even better and more experienced! thank you very much for helping me! i'll never stop watching your videos ! keep it up !
@Chandasouk Why? Why need explain for all 3? Med is hardest to attack on. I think it this way. If somebody is playing med defense against me I use dribble move or jab step ect. to get their farther or closer. They have to react it somehow. One good is few agressive steps towards basket, then step back without taking ball to 2 hands. Then look what defender do, if he bite, shoot it. If he comes to challenge your shot, push ball and attack.
@ShotScience What bas means, should it be bad or what? Anyway I think if defender is mid make he come at you or take a shot. One simple move like step back can give 3-4 meter separation, if defender is about 1 meter front. Using that with speed you should get more than enough room for shot.
@BecomeB Oops, typo! Yes, it was a good response. The medium pressure is a little tougher and you have to test the water or get them to respond before you make your move. Good one!
@BecomeB I just enjoy things in depth is all. I know the other two are the easiest to play. I'll try to work on using more head fakes and hesitations for those medium range defenders.
@MrPhatkool we have other jobs and editing the videos takes a lot of time. We just want them to be great for you guys. Hopefully we'll be able to post one or two videos a week starting now ;-)
