Lucy the elephant was built by my great uncle James V. Lafferty! I visited her for the first time in 1977 when she was in such disrepair. We have pictures of us kids standing infront of her back then and then everytime we visit her we get more pictures. Last time I was there was in June of 2005. I just Love Lucy!
Funny, I grew up near Lucy. I never thought it was anything special until I grew older and learned all of the history of Lucy. Now every time I pass by I take a look and smile at our little part of history.
I spent 18 yrs. behind her running a bar called REDS. I had too look at her fat ass for 2 decades.
