@Blueser66 - thanks very much. You know....I have got a 58 LP CS as well but so far I did not manage to get the tone that I want to, which is exactly the way you sound in this video. Please tell me more, what pedals and/or what settings did you use for the video? BTW you are a great guitar player, Excellent!
@Italicorum3500 thank you :)...what can i tell you about my settings in this vid? sorry but not much because i made this vid about 2 years ago :D. but i think i used the same seetings as today. for overdrive i usually use my okko diabolo. it is handmade and a bit expensive like all handmade pedals :D but it is every penny worth. and it is also importanat not to use too much gain. i hope this was a bit helpful for you .
@Italicorum3500 I agree with you, this guy's tone is pretty awesome. I note that he doesn't use alot of gain (as he mentioned), but I think a lot of his smoothness and dynamic control is due to his use of his fingers rather than a pick. His phrasing is awesome, and his bends are all 100% on pitch. He's very good, that's for sure.
@Italicorum3500 Another thing must be mentioned: He's playing this Les Paul with his fingers, and this changes a litle the sound. Sometimes the tecnique you choose changes the sound.
@Italicorum3500 Another thing must be mentioned: He's playing this Les Paul with his fingers, and this changes a litle the sound. Sometimes the tecnique you choose changes the sound, this is a fact.
Great playing, and Iove that tone. I've moved over to fingerpicking recently and I'm converted. Fingertips > guitar > amp > a little reverb or delay = all I ever need. Great sound, and I've never felt more connected to my instruments.
I keep checking out different pickups for some of my guitars ...and my '58 V.O.S's pickups, especially the bridge, is just to insanely awesome. They're very very versatile pickups. The neck can get a tad muddy at times, but man, they're great. They say '59's are the best, but I can't get away from the '58's.
That was great. Beautiful guitar, great tone, and very good playing. I like your finger-picking style. The way you switch from usual finger-picking to pick-style finger-picking. Very nice.
nice note, nice playing, nice feel, mix your plucking with other picking styles and it will improve the dynamics of your sound like you did towards the end of the clip.
don't do it, you've got the original rock amp man, you will regret giving a Super Lead Plexi away even if you like your new amp, nothing can replace that marshall grunt
Thanks for answering! The r8 I can get here is kinda cheap.. But my problem is that if I get it, I won't be able to buy a stompbox I want or think about an amp. On the other hand, if I get a Standard, I can think about a stompbox and even getting an amp.. What you sad is true, if we got a good guitar, like a Standard, and a good amp the differences aren't big.. Well, let's see what gonna happen. Best Regards!
Man, what a tone and playing, great! I'm thinking about getting a Gibson Standard or a R8. Well, of course the R8 is better, but do you think a normal standard is already a good choice? In my country the Standard costs 5500 and the R8 8000. Does this price difference worth it? Cheers!
THX. well i got my one very cheap...i payed about 1900 euro...for a new one, whcih is extrem low...i like the R8 and R9 more cause they sound of course better...but if you got an good amp it is not that important which les paul you play^^...the diffrences aren´t big
I love the tone.. and your playing is really nice..
I have been looking to buy that particular guitar for a couple of months now, but i haven't made up my mind yet.. I mean.. i WANT the guitar.. im not sure which finish tho. Did you also go through this process, and are you happy with your washed cherry? right now i think the WC is too red.. the Iced tea to "anonymous".. haven't seen the Faded tobacco yet. guess thats why i haven't bought it yet. I want to see all colors before i buy.
im getting the faded tabacco next week!! anyway you should play them and find on you like the sound of ..or so they say..i just ordered the colour i wanted but im going to play it first..p.s. you cant tell anything by pics and vids from the web they always look different in person..
Damn that was great...!
